The fallout from CTV News’ airing of an altered clip continues, as Bell Media Vice-President Richard Gray faced a barrage of questions from a House of Commons committee on Thursday.

The contention stems from an edited clip that aired on CTV News last month that misrepresented what Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre had said in the House of Commons, leading to a blanket Conservative boycott of the Bell Media-owned news network. After two CTV News employees were let go, and two public apologies from the broadcaster, Poilievre lifted his boycott last week.

Suspected trans protesters release hundreds of crickets to disrupt gay rights conference

Four suspected trans rights protesters attacked a gender-critical conference by releasing hundreds of live crickets into a packed auditorium.

The stunt threw the annual LGB Alliance conference into chaos, as a room of about 600 people had to be evacuated on Friday afternoon.

A protester, described as a 17-year-old girl by witnesses, who had been sitting in the crowd, dropped a bag of the insects as one of the final talks of the day was about to start.

Second gentleman Doug Emhoff says claims that he “forcefully” slapped his then-girlfriend in 2012 are a “distraction” – but did not deny the allegations in a new interview that aired Friday.

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough gave Emhoff an opportunity to respond to several “tabloid stories about your personal life.” Reporting from the Daily Mail has claimed Emhoff slapped his then-girlfriend during the Cannes Film Festival more than ten years ago, with sources telling the outlet he hit the unnamed woman so hard that she “spun around.” The story, which is based on claims from several of the unnamed women’s friends as she declined to speak with the outlet, suggested he may have hit her in a moment of jealousy after he believed she had been flirting with a valet.

Hidden camera, internal memo reveal how unqualified truck drivers are getting onto Canada’s roads

The system for testing truck drivers in Ontario has been compromised by bribes, forged documents and rigged testing, says a memo leaked to CBC’s Marketplace by an industry insider.

A subsequent hidden camera investigation by Marketplace reveals that the training students get ahead of that test can be just as problematic.

Ontario’s DriveTest centres are managed by a company called Serco, which oversees operations and logistics for a variety of organizations, ranging from air traffic control for the Canadian Armed Forces to employment services for the federal government.

In these progressive/woke times, it has become increasingly concerning to observe how no stand is taken as certain words, once laden with profound significance, are co-opted to serve agendas far removed from their true meanings. It is as if Orwell’s doublespeak has come to life in 2024 instead of 1984. Remember how he wrote how the powers that be insisted that War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength, and 2 + 2 = 5?
