Liberals’ new luxury tax cost government $19M to collect less than $150M

OTTAWA — Canada’s new luxury tax on luxury cars, boats and private planes brought in $137 million in its first year, but it cost $19 million to bring in those taxes.

Conservative MP Scot Davidson tabled an order paper question demanding information about the new tax in the spring and received answers from the government when Parliament returned this month.

This suggests either evasion a legal loophole or Canada just doesn’t have much of a luxury market as the number of sales seems low. Is there a way to legally avoid the tax?

Diddy accuser’s lawyer claims ‘high-profile person’ was present while ‘pornographic’ acts were performed at rapper’s house

An attorney for one of Diddy’s accusers has claimed that a ‘high-profile person’ had been present during ‘pornographic’ acts at the disgraced rapper’s Atlanta house.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, 54 – who has been denied bail by a judge – was indicted for sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution earlier this month in New York City.

Ariel Mitchell-Kidd, a lawyer for one of the music artist’s accusers, appeared during Friday’s episode of Banfield on NewsNation and stated that someone had reached out to her regarding the ‘sale of one of the Diddy tapes.’

Germany: Police arrest man over arson attacks, van crash

Police in the western German city of Essen on Sunday said they had arrested a 41-year-old man for serious arson and attempted murder.

The suspect man was caught in a separate incident later in which a van crashed into two shops, a police spokesman said.

Essen Mayor Thomas Kufen on Sunday said the suspected arson attacks appeared to have been directed against members of the same family.

Several men detained the suspect, who was reportedly wielding a knife and machete, using shovels and poles, before police arrived to arrest him.

According to the police, he is a 41-year-old man from Essen with Syrian nationality.

We’ll have to wait and see if this was sudden jihad or the usual mental illness.

Court documents revealed that the mother-daughter duo’s trafficking scheme began in 2023 when they convinced two adults and a child fromHaiti to travel to the United States to work at Velida’s.

Indentured servitude? That was Justin’s plan to kickstart the economy by flooding the nation with migrants.
