Euthanasia was Canada’s 5th leading cause of death in 2022

Despite promises of a “stringently limited, carefully monitored system of exceptions,” medically-assisted death is now the fifth-leading cause of death in Canada, says a newly-released report.

The report, released this week by Canadian think-tank Cardus, paints a bleak portrait of Canada’s medical assistance in dying (MAiD) regime, which according to the report has seen a thirteen-fold rise in participants since its 2016 legalization.

A Quarter of Employed Canadians Now Work For The Government

Canadian employment doesn’t look like it moved much, but under the surface was a giant shift. Statistics Canada (Stat Can) data shows the number of jobs virtually unchanged in July, growing 1.7% (+345k jobs) over the past year. As a result, the unemployment rate was also flat at 6.4%, adding 0.9 points from last year. Mostly boring until you dive into the details that show the public sector now accounts for most jobs, overseeing 1 in 4 employees in Canada.

Guy beats up a guy to win Gold in Women’s Olympic boxing

Imane Khelif wins Olympic GOLD after breezing past China’s Yang Liu in dominant welterweight final in Paris

A final opponent had been dismantled and there was a gold medal around her neck, but Imane Khelif was not done throwing punches.

The Algerian at the centre of a gender row, over whom questions will now grow louder after she completed a Parisian stroll to Olympics glory, came into the post-fight press conference swinging.

Here, there was no ducking or dodging, only more powerful blows, this time raining down on the critics who say she should not have been here, fighting against women, after failing a sex test last year.

Canada unexpectedly loses 2,800 jobs in July … Trudeau vows to double down on migrant import & civil service hiring to shore up vote bank and juice next months numbers

OTTAWA – Canada’s economy shed a net 2,800 jobs in July, as gains in full-time work were offset by part-time job losses, while the unemployment rate remained at a 30-month high of 6.4 per cent, data showed on Friday.

Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast a net gain of 22,500 jobs and the unemployment rate to rise to 6.5 per cent from 6.4 per cent in June. An increase in the unemployment rate was expected due to rapid population growth which the labor market was not able to absorb.

Ottawa’s Jewish community ‘blindsided’ by Pride group’s pro-Palestinian statement

A prominent member of the Jewish Federation of Ottawa feels “targeted and unwelcome” and fears for his safety due to pro-Palestinian messaging by Capital Pride in advance of its Aug. 25 parade.

On Tuesday, Capital Pride posted a political statement on Instagram related to the ongoing war in Gaza. “By portraying itself as a protector of the rights of queer and trans people in the Middle East, Israel seeks to draw attention away from its abhorrent human rights abuses against Palestinians,” the statement said.
