York University faculty group recommends defining support of Israel as ‘racism’

A York University faculty committee has recommended that the school henceforth define any acknowledgement of Israel’s existence as evidence of “anti-Palestinian racism.”

According to an April 5 “recommendations report” leaked to National Post, an official committee within York’s Department of Politics has proposed that any defence of Israel be viewed as “anti-Palestinian, Islamophobic, and anti-Arab.”

The BCF Settler Colonial Project claims rights to its ancestral lands on which York U is parked.

CBC getting $42-million in budget after warnings of job cuts

The CBC is gaining $42-million in the budget to help support its programming after declining advertising and subscription revenues, and warnings last year of looming job cuts.

The public broadcaster signalled last December that it may have to cut 800 jobs to address a $125-million projected shortfall for the fiscal year.

Catherine Tait, chief executive officer and president of CBC/Radio-Canada, prompted an outcry when, on the day the broadcaster announced the possible job cuts, she told its newscast that it was too early to say if executive bonuses would be cut.

Is political speech free in the capital of Europe? Incredibly, given the antics of the Brussels mayor and other officials over the past few days, the answer seems to be no. Pay attention: the scandalous events of the last week have massive symbolic weight for the future of Europe.

Yoram Hazony has been hosting National Conservatism (NatCon) conferences on two continents for the past few years. On Monday, the day before the April 16 kickoff of this week’s event in Brussels, the Israeli-American scholar, who runs the Edmund Burke Foundation which is sponsoring the conference, should have been busy putting the final touches on the gathering.

Idaho Governor Signs Forced Organ Harvesting Legislation Into Law

Idaho Gov. Brad Little has signed legislation into law aiming to ensure that residents are not unknowingly complicit in China’s state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting of prisoners of conscience.

As of July 1, it will be illegal in Idaho for health insurers to cover an organ transplant or post-transplant care performed in China or any country known to have participated in forced organ harvesting. The legislation (H 670), which was passed unanimously by the state Senate and House earlier this month, was signed by Mr. Little on April 10.
