The University of Virginia spends $20 million a year on its 235 DEI staffers, including a woman who says the spike in premature deaths in Appalachia is due to the ‘toxicity of whiteness,’ a damning report says.

Open the Books, a spending watchdog, says the flagship public college in Charlottesville drops $15 million on salaries and $5 million more in benefits to its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) team.

They include Rachel Spraker, an ‘equity and inclusive’ officer, who calls Appalachia’s wave of premature deaths a sign of ‘white toxicity,’ and the school’s diversity chief Martin Davidson, who pockets nearly $600,000 a year.

Email reveals that Ottawa told Canada’s top soldier not to call budget changes ‘cuts’

OTTAWA — Canada’s top soldier was told he couldn’t use the word “cut” in a memo to soldiers about the federal government’s budget plans for the military, newly disclosed documents reveal.

The emails late last summer between Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Wayne Eyre’s office and the Department of National Defence (DND), obtained by the Star under the Access to Information Act, highlight the bewildering semantics — and the tension — between Canada’s soldiers and its politicians when it comes to defence spending.

DND is expected to have almost $2.6 billion in its budget “reallocated” over the next three years as a part of the Liberals’ broader exercise to redirect $14.1 billion in spending over the next five years, according to plans tabled last week.

German Police Conduct Dawn Raids On Homes of Suspected Internet Misogynists

BERLIN (AP) – German authorities carried out raids Thursday across Germany against people suspected of posting misogynistic hate speech online.

Police raided homes and interrogated 45 suspects in 11 states early in the morning, German news agency dpa reported. None of the suspects were detained.

The raids were part of the annual “combating misogyny on the internet” day of action, which began in 2022 and comes one day before International´s Women´s Day.

Outgoing Special Presidential Envoy for Climate (SPEC) John Kerry claimed that people would “feel better” about the ongoing war in Ukraine if Russia would “make a greater effort to reduce emissions.”

“If Russia wanted to show good faith, they could go out and announce what their reductions are going to be and make a greater effort to reduce emissions now,” Kerry said during a foreign press briefing on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., his last as the SPEC, as he departed from the position Wednesday to reportedly join President Biden’s presidential re-election campaign.

“Maybe that would open up the door for people to feel better about what Russia is choosing to do at this point in time,” he said.

Problems with the Canadian navy’s new patrol ships have led to significant flooding causing excessive corrosion while other defects have resulted in mechanical failures involving anchors, sailors have revealed.

The flooding is centered around the area where the anchor cable comes into an enclosed deck on the Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ships or AOPS.

That problem resulted in an incident on board HMCS Harry DeWolf that saw severe flooding and the creation of a “salty sauna” environment that led to excessive corrosion, the Royal Canadian Navy sailors noted.
