Canada prepares to welcome thousands of Sudanese, but new pathway sparks questions

In the terrifying months after the war in Sudan erupted, Kholoud Abakar and her children abandoned their home five times, moving from city to city in the devastated country in a race for survival.

Now, her Canadian family is fighting to get her and her seven children to safety in Canada. But even as Ottawa prepares a new family-reunification pathway to help thousands of Sudanese reach this country, restrictions in the rules could dash the hopes of Ms. Abakar and many others like her.

On Tuesday, the federal government is set to launch a program for up to 3,250 Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor relatives in Sudan to enter Canada.

Gee, which Muslim state would would welcome Canadian refugees? Oh that’s right none of them.

They don’t even take their own.

Wild moment gunman wielding an automatic unloads on blacked-out BMW wounding four men in suburban Vancouver

Surveillance footage captured the moment a gunman wielding an automatic weapon unleashed a hail of bullets on a blacked-out BMW in suburban Vancouver.

The early morning shooting occurred at around 12:25 am PT on Thursday in Metro Vancouver’s White Rock, and left four men hospitalized in serious condition.

The video, obtained by Radio Punjab, provides a glimpse into the chaotic events that transpired as a gunman on foot opens fire at a driver seemingly attempting to exit a parking lot, leaving the SUV riddled with bullets on the driver’s side.

Ali said he has been using crystal meth on and off since he moved to Saskatoon in 2022. Now, the 23-year-old is working toward recovery but said mental health services in his language and culturally-specific health care are lacking.

This reeks of “Capacity building” – rent seekers looking for a tax payer subsidized sinecure.

And Ali should be sent packing.

A trans-identified male residing in Vernon, British Columbia, has been given sympathetic coverage by the press after two teenage girls reported that he had exposed his genitals in their presence while using the women’s change room of a local recreation center. Amanda Wilson, 67, whose given name has not been reported, was accused of stripping nude in the presence of two 14 year-old girls at the Vernon Aquatic Center on January 27.

Japan naked festival: Women join Hadaka Matsuri for first time

The sea of chanting, nearly-naked men tussle, push and shove towards the shrine. “Washoi! Washoi!” they yell – let’s go, let’s go.

It is scene that has barely changed in the 1,250 years the Hadaka Matsuri, or the Naked Festival, has been taking place at the Konomiya Shrine, in central Japan.
But this year there is a change – a big one.

Away from the men’s huddle, a group are about to become the first women to ever take part.

According to his tweet, Harper witnessed “an Israel scarred by the unprovoked horrors of Oct. 7, but also united in its determination to end the threat of Hamas once and for all.”

“Unprovoked.” “Ending the threat of Hamas.” Phrases being repeatedly used to justify the unjustifiable.

Harper’s ahistorical and disingenuous framing of what’s unfolding in Gaza reflects the extent to which what we’re witnessing from the powerful is an attempt to promote a simplistic viewpoint of “good” and “bad.”

A senior Health Canada official removed mention of a “high level of impurity” in mRNA COVID-19 vaccines in an assessment done by a colleague for the department’s chief medical adviser, internal records show.

The assessment was meant as a brief on recent findings about the creation of unintended proteins by mRNA COVID-19 vaccines.

Two senior Health Canada (HC) officials, including the one with final authority on vaccine authorization, expressed concerns about the conclusions written by the HC scientist tasked with producing the assessment.
