Women will be allowed to participate in Japan’s ‘naked man’ festival next month for the first time in its 1,250-year history.

A group of 40 local women in Inazawa, in the country’s Aichi prefecture, will join the annual Hadaka Matsuri at the Konomiya shrine after petitioning organisers.

The event sees thousands of men strip down to loincloths and clash in a huge scrum as they fight to touch a completely naked man who is designated the shin-otoko or ‘god man’, in the hope that it will bring them good fortune for the new year.

National Defence has brought in a new and unprecedented shroud of secrecy around a controversial warship project now estimated to cost taxpayers more than $80 billion.

After withholding documents for almost three years, the Department of National Defence has released nearly 1,700 pages of records that were supposed to outline specific costs and work done so far on the Canadian Surface Combatant program.

The Rupert Murdoch-owned New York Post had some fun with the weekly ratings report, underlining just how badly CNN did in the last week. Despite the attention around the Iowa caucus, CNN came in 10th most-watched channel on cable, getting beat by Hallmark, The History Channel and INSP, a South Carolina-based channel founded in the late 1970s by the Christian televangelist Jim Bakker that now runs mostly Westerns.

How nitrogen gas kills: Untested execution method that’s too cruel for animals will be used TOMORROW on an Alabama hitman in world-first

The first-ever execution by nitrogen gas is set to go ahead in America tomorrow using a method so cruel and painful the UN calls it torture.

Alabama hitman Kenneth Smith, 58, was sentenced to death for killing a woman on behalf of her preacher husband in 1988 and was due to be executed by lethal injection in November 2022 but survived after it was botched.

Alabama – one of only three states to have legalized nitrogen executions – ruled that Mr Smith would be put to death via nitrogen instead.

Liberal MP says he thinks Trudeau should face a leadership review

But the MP for Avalon said he wonders now if the Liberal leader is doing his party more harm than good.

“I think Atlantic Canada is much the same as the rest of the country. There’s almost a hatred out there right now for Prime Minister Trudeau,” he said.

Woman, 32, who fatally stabbed her date 100 times in weed-induced ‘psychotic break’ is sentenced to just 100 HOURS community service – as judge says she ‘had no control over her actions’

A California woman who stabbed a man she was dating 100 times and killed him, before turning the knife on herself and her dog, has been handed 100 hours of community service.

Bryn Spejcher, 32, was given the astonishingly low sentence following psychiatrists’ ruling that the tragedy was ‘100 percent’ caused by cannabis-induced psychosis, which she suffered after taking two hits of the victim’s bong.

The judge ruled that Spejcher ‘experienced a psychotic break from reality’ and ‘had no control over her actions’ when she killed Chad O’Melia, then 26, on Memorial Day weekend 2018.
