Lies, Defamation, & Hypocrisy: CBC, Ottawa Citizen, CTV Reporting of Ottawa Police Settlement in Detective Grus Parental Complaint

Yesterday CBC, Ottawa Citizen, and CTV – all government-subsidized news outlets – published reports of a settlement between the Ottawa Police and mother of a deceased infant who complained of privacy violations but did not file a lawsuit.

The timing of this monetary settlement was clearly a strategic decision by the Ottawa Police Service (OPS). The OPS faces imminent embarrassment and exposure in today’s December 8, 2023, Divisional Court Judicial Review application filed by Detective Helen Grus’s defense lawyers.

Brewing truth: Climate doomsayers’ cooked up coffee crisis

Every day, people across the world wake up to news about climate change affecting their lives.  With the seeming randomness of a roulette wheel, the doomsday clique of the climate world daily selects a fresh topic to sow seeds of anxiety among the populace.

Popular things easily recognized — even cherished — by people are continually identified as being at risk of being damaged or destroyed by climate change.  Coffee, for example, is a commodity experiencing a surge in popularity, and there are no prizes for guessing what climate doomsayers are saying now.

Not Even Woke College Students Want To Hear Dylan Mulvaney Give Lecture

Dylan Mulvaney, the notorious man-child who pretends to be a girl, gave a guest lecture at Penn State last week–and it was a bigger bust than “The Marvels” because the auditorium it took place in was at least half empty.

Net Zero Sperm Count: CBC plugs nut who had himself made sterile over climate grief

I got a vasectomy due to climate grief. Now, I’m compelled to let go of my backup plan

“Darryl,” my then-partner called out from a few rows back on a crowded flight. We’d originally been seated together, but I’d relocated so a mom could sit with her kids. When I looked back over the packed seats, amidst the roar of burning engines, she smiled at me and mimed a scissor-cut with two fingers. “Yes,” she finally said, in a gesture understandable only to me.

For about a year and a half, I’d been offering to get a vasectomy, to do more than just talk about how the world didn’t need any more humans. In and around our old Nova Scotia house, I’d periodically make that horizontal scissor mime to reiterate my offer. News of rising temperatures on the kitchen radio? Finger snip. Atlantic Ocean looking more and more disturbed? Finger snip. Even back then in 2007, the North Atlantic hurricane season was intensifying due to climate change. Snip-snip.

Residents to vote on bylaw that would force Alberta town to remove its Pride crosswalk

Residents of Westlock, Alta., will vote in a plebiscite in February on a proposed bylaw that would force the town to remove its only Pride crosswalk, painted last summer.

Town council voted unanimously Nov. 27 to hold a municipal plebiscite on a proposed “crosswalk and flagpole” bylaw which would ban crosswalks or flags that support “political, social, or religious movements or commercial entities.”

The proposal aims to keep public spaces politically neutral in the town 90 kilometres north of Edmonton.

German government begins razing the forest that acted as a backdrop for many a Grimm’s fairy tale, to make way for wind turbines

Say “verabschiedung” to the magical woodlands that inspired the backdrop for many a Grimm’s fairy tale—or I suppose more appropriately given the shift in demographics, “مع السلامة”—as the German government has officially commenced a controversial deforestation initiative.

My colleague Monica Showalter wrote an excellent and in-depth analysis almost two years ago on the government’s proposal to axe large swathes of Germany’s most famous, and “1,000-year-old”  forest to make way for wind turbines—which you can read here—and the project has finally commenced.

He’s Got $250 Million to Spend on Communist Revolution

Fergie Chambers – spoiled rich kid with no boundaries

Nestled into the mountains of the Upper Valley in New Hampshire, up a semi-paved road in a house next to a tiny cemetery lined with white picket fencing, Fergie Chambers, 38, leans over his kitchen island, worrying over his commune.

“It feels like we’re throwing the same half-assed solutions at this over and over again and hoping it will yield something different,” he groans into his iPhone, which is on speaker. Fergie’s slight, but buff, on account of his multiple times a day martial arts training and competitions. His hair is cut short. A silver boxing glove dangles from one of his ears. He is covered in tattoos, including a double portrait of Stalin and Mao inked onto his thigh. He looks as if the phrase “Fuck you, Mom and Dad” were a person.
