Large Number of Prison Escapes in Canada Linked to Federal Healing Lodges: Report

Federal healing lodges account for a considerable number of prison escapes, according to new data from the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC).

Over a span of four years, there were 56 recorded prison escapes, 43 percent of those having happened at healing lodges, according to a CSC report obtained by Blacklock’s Reporter. Among these incidents, one-fifth were at two Prairie locations: Willow Cree Healing Centre near Duck Lake, Saskatchewan, and Buffalo Sage Wellness House in Edmonton.

English River First Nation on Tuesday announced the discovery at the site where Beauval Indian Residential School stood for nearly nine decades.

Meta uncovers world’s ‘largest’ spam campaign to boost China

Facebook parent Meta said on Tuesday it had shut down a so-called “Spamouflage” campaign to covertly boost China’s image on its platforms.

Meta said it removed some 7,700 Facebook accounts plus hundreds of other pages, groups and Instagram accounts that pushed pro-China narratives online.

The accounts typically praised China and its policies in Xinjiang, and criticized the United States, Western foreign policy, and individuals critical of Beijing, including journalists.

A lawsuit filed by sorority members at the University of Wyoming to block a transgender woman from joining has been dismissed by a judge — despite allegations the student was a “sexual predator” who got physically aroused around them.

Since the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority bylaws do not define what a “woman” is, Wyoming US District Judge Alan Johnson ruled he could not proceed with the lawsuit and dismissed the matter on Friday, according to reports.

“With its inquiry beginning and ending there, the court will not define a ‘woman’ today,” Johnson wrote.
