A female IT boss on £90,000 a year sued for sex discrimination after complaining her male colleagues had Nerf gun wars in the office.

Sarah Longman described a “laddish” workplace culture where members of staff in the department she managed used the children’s toy blasters to fire foam pellets at each other.

Ms Longman, head of information systems, also complained that they threw rubber chickens at each other as part of a wider “sexist” environment where her team regularly took part in “childlike” and “immature” pranks.

Florida girl awarded $800,000 for McDonald’s Chicken McNugget burn

A Florida jury has awarded an eight-year-old girl $800,000 (£622,000) in damages after she was severely burned when a McDonald’s Chicken McNugget fell on her leg.

The “dangerously hot” McNugget burned Olivia Caraballo in 2019, then four, as she opened her Happy Meal in the car at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Tamarac, Florida.

Her family had sought $15m in damages.

A jury in May found McDonald’s and its franchise liable for the injury.

A convicted sex offender living on the same property as a summer camp for children with autism in Essa Township was arrested, along with his wife, in a human trafficking investigation two days after Ontario Provincial Police issued a rare public advisory about him.

Lauriston Maloney, 42, and Amber Maloney, 36, were taken into police custody on Wednesday morning and charged with multiple offences related to recruiting, exercising control, exploitation, assault, forcible confinement, and financial benefit from committing a crime.

The Dean of Canterbury has defended a tattooed priest appointed to the city’s cathedral.

Celebrating her new role, the cathedral tweeted a photo of Reverend Wendy Dalrymple in a short-sleeved dog-collared dress that revealed her religious tattoos.

But she was targeted by online trolls who branded the Anglican cleric as “prideful” and “vain” for “the peacock display”.

Porn sites have asked not to be regulated under the federal government’s Online Streaming Act, arguing that they don’t advance the legislation’s aim to enrich and strengthen the cultural fabric of Canada.

In a formal submission to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission, MindGeek, which owns a portfolio of explicit adult sites including Pornhub, Brazzers and YouPorn, says the sites should be granted the same exemption as video games.
