NCC to vote on new Sir John A MacDonald Parkway name after selecting Algonquin recommendation

Algonquin communities consulted over what to rename Ottawa’s Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway have reached a consensus and the new name Kichi Zībī Mīkan will be recommended to the National Capital Commission’s board of directors later this month, according to a letter circulated by one of the Indigenous groups involved.

A little odd given it’s a parkway designed for motor vehicles or did the Algonquin invent cars?

The billion-dollar search for immortality

There’s nothing noble about cheating death

In the pristine cylindrical atrium of Altos Labs’s Cambridge Institute of Science, under a skylight resembling a giant cyclopic eye, I ask the obvious question. What does the company actually do? “Cell rejuvenation,” replies the facilities manager. At least, looking back, I’m pretty sure that’s what he says. At the time, I hear something slightly different: “We sell rejuvenation.”

Conservative MPs furious after e-mails show federal officials worked on ways not to answer their questions

Federal public servants worked on ways not to answer directly opposition MPs’ parliamentary questions, admitting that doing so raised a communication risk, internal government documents obtained under access to information show.

Civil servants in the Natural Resources Department recommended the use of “limitation language” to answer the written Commons questions from Conservative and NDP MPs, internal e-mails show.

The good news is most civil service positions can be replaced by a small chip upgrade to toaster ovens.

The statistics presented by the President of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) Holger Münch and the Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD) counted 8,160 knife attacks. Official figures from Germany’s federal states and state criminal investigation offices have revealed that the real number of knife attacks is significantly higher.

New emails show COVID vaccine mandates were based on a lie

It is not uncommon for politicians or bureaucrats to lie. What seems to be unique, though, is just how common and consequential the lies were during the COVID pandemic.

On Monday, we got a bombshell. New documents indicate the entire justification for vaccine mandates was based on a falsehood — and that public health officials knew it.

In Canada, Asking for Evidence Now Counts as ‘Denialism’

Sensational 2021 claims that unmarked Indigenous child graves had been discovered in British Columbia now seem doubtful. But saying so may soon be a criminal offence

It’s now been more than two years since Canada was convulsed by claims that 215 unmarked graves of Indigenous schoolchildren had been discovered on the grounds of a former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia. No actual bodies or human remains were in evidence—just ground-penetrating radar data indicating regularly-spaced soil dislocations. But you wouldn’t have known that from the breathless manner in which the story was reported at the time. A Global News headline announced the “Discovery of Human Remains at Kamloops Residential School Grounds.” Another, at the Toronto Star, declared, “The Remains of 215 Children Have Been Found.”

‘Radically inclusive’ restaurant that offered ‘vulgar fine dining’ closes as woke owner faces sex harass claims

A “bold and brash” restaurant run by a queer, black chef in Oakland, California, closed amid claims of sexual harassment from its largely LGBTQ+ staff.

Hi Felicia — famed for its $195 tasting menu and “vulgar fine dining” — was created to be woke and “radically inclusive” but its owner, Imana, didn’t always promote those values according to former employees who spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle.

One employee named Dawn, a cook who identifies as non-binary, said they felt harassed after Imana allegedly made several comments about their body and genitalia, and said she was attracted to them.
