TMU student union suing former execs for alleged fraud, mismanagement totalling $250K

TORONTO – The undergraduate student union at Toronto Metropolitan University has launched a lawsuit against five former union executives, alleging fraud and financial mismanagement that it claims has resulted in major financial losses and a huge hit to its already-damaged reputation.

The Toronto Metropolitan Students’ Union filed a statement of claim this week seeking $900,000 in damages after alleged wrongdoing by members of the executive team from the 2021-22 academic year.

Conservative commentator Steven Crowder claimed on Friday afternoon that the controversial footage of him berating his then-heavily pregnant wife was “misleadingly edited” — and announced plans to unseal all related records in the state of Texas.

In the disturbing Ring footage from June 2021 shared by Yashar Ali on Thursday, Crowder can be heard telling his wife, Hilary, to “f–king watch it” and accuses her of refusing “to do wifely things.”

China is reportedly recruiting former air force pilots from the West to understand better how Western military aircraft and pilots operate. Up to 30 former UK military pilots are believed to have traveled to China since 2019 to work as instructors in the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

“They are a very attractive body of people to then pass on that knowledge. It’s taking Western pilots of great experience to help develop Chinese military air force tactics and capabilities,” an unnamed Western official said. “Money,” he added, “is a strong motivator.”

More than 90 per cent of non-essential workers in the largest group of striking Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) workers took strike action during the first week of the labour stoppage, according to new government figures.

An average of 71,000 employees from the core public administration group of 120,000 workers were off the job, according to figures released by the Treasury Board.
