Adidas puts Kanye West Yeezy deal under review

Adidas says it is reviewing its Yeezy partnership with Kanye West days after he showed a “White Lives Matter” T-shirt design at Paris Fashion Week.

The company did not mention the controversy but said “successful partnerships are rooted in mutual respect and shared values”.

The rapper and fashion designer responded on Instagram, claiming the firm “stole” his designs.

That post now appears to have been deleted.

McGill investigating tweet by instructor who allegedly promoted violence against Iranian protesters

McGill University says it is investigating one of its instructors who allegedly called for the death of people participating in anti-government protests in the streets of Iran in recent weeks.

Members inside and outside the McGill community are accusing the staff member, Soroosh Shahriari, of promoting hate speech and inciting violence. They also say the university is acting too slowly in holding him accountable and plan to hold a protest on campus Thursday evening.

Soroosh Shahriari – an instructor in the Jewish Studies program. That’s some exotic Diversity Kool-Aid they must drink there.

Russell Brand calls out Hillary Clinton, liberals for branding Trump supporters as ‘Nazis’ and ‘fascists’

Comedian and commentator Russell Brand roasted Hillary Clinton and other liberals on Tuesday for tarring people they don’t agree with as “Nazis” and “fascists.”

In a new YouTube video posted to his channel, Brand spoke about Hillary Clinton’s appearance at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin, where she compared a Trump rally in Ohio where his supporters raised index fingers in salute to the Roman salutes at rallies in Nazi Germany.

The firing of a New York University (NYU) professor who was the subject of a petition from students who said his class was too hard continues to stoke controversy, as some parents and teachers say the incident points to a lowering of academic standards.

Maitland Jones Jr, a professor of organic chemistry, was fired by NYU after more than 80 students from his 350-student course signed a petition complaining about grades, teaching and help received during the Covid pandemic.

OTTAWA – Chief of the defence staff Gen. Wayne Eyre is ordering an immediate halt to all non-essential activities in favour of boosting military recruitment and retention, with the Canadian Armed Forces facing an unprecedented personnel crisis.

Eyre issued the sweeping order to senior commanders across the country on Thursday, saying dramatic action is needed to ensure the military has the troops it needs to respond to growing demands and threats at home and abroad.

Russian forces shot comrade trying to surrender, says Ukrainian soldier

A Russian soldier in Kherson tried to surrender but was shot in the back by his comrades, a Ukrainian soldier has told The Telegraph.

“One of them fell to the ground at the sight of us and shouted ‘just don’t kill please, I want to live’,” said Oleksiy*, describing the moment he came face to face with Russia’s forces. “His guys started shooting from behind his back, hitting him.”

Oleksiy, a 20-year-old from a small town in Luhansk whose name has been changed for safety reasons, is fighting on the frontline in Kherson as part of Ukraine’s fastest advances of the war so far.

Able Seaman Triss Smythe told the hearing that he must be innocent as being demisexual meant he needed to form a strong emotional bond with anyone before he could even begin to think about sexual contact.

Arrests are ‘futile’ to curb crime, B.C.’s attorney general says

More arrests are “futile,” British Columbia’s attorney general says as he rebuffed criticism of government policies on repeat offenders and violent crime across the province.

Murray Rankin told the legislature on Tuesday that increasing arrests is not the answer to battle crime.

His statement comes despite a recent government-commissioned report citing police and probation officers saying repeat offenders “are emboldened to continue offending, deteriorating community confidence in the justice system.”
