The rape of America’s century-old hardwood forests… stripped bare to provide wood pellets for European energy plants – in a deluded bid to meet climate goals

Environmentalists warn that hundreds of thousands of acres of forest are being torn down each year in the U.S. southeast to make wood pellets to fuel European power plants in a deluded bid to fight climate change.

The Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC) and other groups say logging in woodlands stretching from Texas to Virginia is ravaging a biodiversity hotspot, including century-old hardwood trees that will take decades to replace.

More than two dozen pellet mills operate across the so-called North American Coastal Plain, which has already lost some 70 percent of its historic vegetation thanks in part to a $11 billion global industry that is set to grow to $20.5 billion by 2030.

Liberal minister Steven Guilbeault says he doesn’t know what ‘woke’ means. Here’s a primer

Insane person

In his first speech to caucus as new Conservative leader, Pierre Poilievre denounced the “radical woke coalition” running Canada – a reference to the Liberal-NDP agreement to keep Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in power until at least 2025.

When asked by the CBC about the term “radical woke coalition,” Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault responded “frankly, I don’t know what it means to be woke.”

Ottawa has lost control of $150M program for reimbursing veterans’ cannabis: audit

An internal audit by Veterans Affairs Canada suggests the federal government has all but lost control as it shells out hundreds of millions of dollars for veterans’ medical marijuana each year without proper oversight, direction or evidence of health benefits.

Quietly published this week, the audit’s results come amid an explosion in the number of veterans seeking reimbursement for their medical pot, from around 100 in 2014 to more than 18,000 last year — with no end to the surge in sight.

No one ever gets fired for being incompetent. I can see why these public servants merit a holiday Monday.

Harvard Tells Students: ‘Using Wrong Pronouns’ Constitutes ‘Abuse’

Welcome to Harvard!

“Fatphobia” and “cisheterosexism” perpetuate “violence.” “Using the wrong pronouns” constitutes “abuse.” And “any words used to lower a person’s self-worth” are “Verbal Abuse.” Those are just a handful of the things the school told all undergraduate students in a mandatory Title IX training session, according to materials reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon.

‘Ridiculous’: Murder victim’s sister told to remove recent photo of killer from Facebook

There is still no sign of the man who murdered a Moncton teenager in the 1980s after he breached his parole and disappeared almost two weeks ago.

Now, the victim’s sister says she has been told she can’t post a recent photo of him on social media.

Laura Ann Davis was just 16 when she was shot and killed by Patrice Mailloux at her family’s store on George Street in Moncton on Nov. 14, 1987.

Because coddling criminals has worked out so well in Ontario and Saskatchewan.

Canada’s federal holiday to mourn the Queen leaves a patchwork of confusion

On Canada’s east and west coasts, schools and government offices will be closed on the day of Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral. But in the two most populous provinces, employees will be at work – unless they are federal employees. Banks and other federal industries, however, have been given the option to close – or to remain open.

On Tuesday, the prime minister, Justin Trudeau, declared 19 September a federal holiday. But the ensuing chaos of determining who qualifies for the holiday has left workers confused across the country.

Why do business owners get to decide whether you take this as a holiday.

Don’t believe a man can have menstrual cramps? You may be a dangerous right-wing extremist say experts!

International, Canadian experts warn right-wing extremism is becoming increasingly mainstream

Right-wing extremism is becoming increasingly mainstream, with the COVID-19 pandemic serving as an accelerant to that process, Canadian and international experts warned Tuesday.

… Prof. Carvin, an associate professor at Carleton University focused on national security, said at the conference that it seems gender-based violence and anti-transgender activity are increasingly what’s motivating people to join the far-right – or attracting them to it.

The usual garbage from the same sort of people who believe children should choose their gender.

With Poilievre’s victory, some Liberal MPs hope party will pivot to the centre

Be Butch like Justin

Some Liberal MPs say the party needs to refocus as it prepares to go head-to-head against a new brand of Conservatives — including being “less woke,” according to Radio-Canada.

A handful of MPs spoke to the French-language arm of CBC — most on the condition that they not be named — as the party gathers for a caucus meeting in the coastal resort town of Saint Andrews, N.B.

The meeting is meant to underline the party’s priorities ahead of the fall sitting, which will see a new face leading His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition: Pierre Poilievre.

Defying Markets to Promote Organics

In the midst of historic inflation, the Department of Agriculture is pumping millions in taxpayer subsidies to support the overpriced, overhyped organic food industry.

Advocates of President Biden’s 2021 American Rescue Plan touted the $1.9 trillion-dollar stimulus bill as a vehicle for various goals—to fund a national vaccination program, stop Covid-19, and reopen schools. Who could be against any of that?

Those who questioned the price tag back then would like to direct you to the White House’s American Rescue Plan webpage, which now celebrates the bill as “one of the most progressive pieces of legislation in history.” The reality is that the Covid recovery bill is being revealed for what it was always intended to be: a slush fund for Biden administration pet projects, giveaways to narrow special interests, and ideological wish lists. The scope of the bait and switch legislation is becoming more evident as the Biden administration continues to dole out those taxpayer dollars.
