Scientists to Study Pig-Organ Transplants in Brain-Dead People for Longer Periods

Perfect.

Extended studies could provide data for future research but raise ethical concerns because of delay in burial and closure

As part of long-term efforts to address the shortage of lifesaving organs, scientists plan to extend the duration of studies in which genetically modified pig organs are transplanted into brain-dead individuals.

The move could provide crucial data to help launch clinical trials of animal-to-human transplants in living patients—but it also raises ethical and scientific challenges for the doctors and families involved.

Twitter and Meta take down pro-US propaganda campaign

Twitter and Meta have removed from their platforms an online propaganda campaign aimed at promoting US interests abroad, researchers say.

This is the first major covert pro-US propaganda operation taken down by the tech giants, says a report by social media analytics firm Graphika and the Stanford Internet Observatory (SIO).

They removed dozens of accounts used in the campaign in July and August.

It is not clear who is behind the propaganda operation.

Is This The End Of The MSM’s Orgy Of Self Love? – Head of Bell says Lisa LaFlamme’s departure not related to age, gender or grey hair

TORONTO – The head of Bell Media’s parent company says the decision to end Lisa LaFlamme’s contract had nothing to do with her age, gender or grey hair.
Mirko Bibic, president and CEO of BCE Inc. & Bell Canada, says removing the longtime CTV National News anchor instead reflects massive changes to traditional broadcasting in Canada.

In a LinkedIn post, he says the days when viewers wait until 11 p.m. to get their news are gone and that change is necessary to ensure Bell Media can provide its journalists with the resources they need across all platforms where news is consumed.

What world do these people live in? Folks lose jobs with dire real-life consequences for they and their families every day but somehow LaFlamme’s exit is a national tragedy.

Nobody I know watched CTV news at 11.

Welsh Police Get The L Out At Pride Parade

The BBC’s account of events leaves you wondering who was protesting. Turns out Lesbians were protesting the parade participation of men who claim to be women. Is the BBC that afraid of Trannies? I took a screenshot of the BBC piece for posterity.

Pride Cymru: Cardiff Police asking ‘protest group’ to move goes viral

A video appearing to show a police officer asking a group of people to move on for safety reasons during a Pride Cymru march has gone viral.

South Wales Police said its officers were “required to engage with a small protest group who had assembled themselves on the route to block the procession” in Cardiff on Saturday.

The force said no arrests were made.

Organisers said a group interrupted the march, the first since 2019.

I had to search to find out who was protesting.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau described “climate change” as a threat to Canadian national security during a press conference on Friday in Cold Lake, Alberta, alleging that global warming increases Russian military “accessibility” to Canada’s Arctic north.

Intel officials to assess national security fallout from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago documents

The U.S. intelligence community will evaluate the potential national security risks stemming from former President Donald Trump’s possession of top-secret documents at his Mar-a-Lago residence, Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines told top lawmakers.

In a letter obtained by POLITICO and dated Friday, Haines told House Oversight Committee Chair Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) and House Intelligence Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) that her office will lead an “assessment of the potential risk to national security that would result from the disclosure of the relevant documents.”

Universities drop Chaucer and Shakespeare as ‘decolonisation’ takes root

This is for their own good, according to the many British universities, which have sought to “decolonise the curriculum” and liberate courses from the inequities of “white, Western and Eurocentric” knowledge.

The syllogism seemingly accepted across many university departments runs like this: Western knowledge is a product of colonialism; colonialism is an evil to be opposed; therefore Western knowledge must be opposed.

In this view, it is incumbent upon academics to change curricula – megalithic “knowledge” is to be replaced by pluralistic “knowledges”, and the “Euro-centric” canon is to be replaced by one that is more diverse.

The strange theory of Aleksandr Dugin and “child sacrifice”

Social media has been gripped by Dugin derangement syndrome

Dugin derangement syndrome. What else might we call the reaction to the assassination of Darya Dugina, daughter of nationalist Russian philosopher Aleksandr Dugin, coming from some quarters? The war in Ukraine has created a class of highly influential social media “experts,” whose analysis we might normally simply ignore if their collective reach did not number in the millions. But their latest idea is too odd to overlook. They have accused Alexander Dugin, her father, of having her killed in a ritual, esoteric sacrifice.

Insects could give meaty taste to food – and help environment – scientists find

Insects can be turned into meat-like flavors, helping provide a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional meat options, scientists have discovered.

Mealworms, the larval form of the yellow mealworm beetle, have been cooked with sugar by researchers who found that the result is a meat-like flavoring that could one day be used on convenience food as a source of protein.

NATO chief warns Canada that Russia, China have designs on the Arctic

Trudeau, Anand won’t commit to NATO exercises on Canadian soil

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg ended his trip to Canada’s Arctic on Friday by underlining the threats to the region posed by both Russia and China.

Standing alongside Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at one of the country’s principal northern fighter jet bases in Cold Lake, Alta., Stoltenberg cited a list of actions Moscow has taken in the Far North in co-operation with Beijing.

“Russia has set up a new Arctic command,” he said. “It has opened hundreds of new and former Soviet-era Arctic military sites, including airfields and deep water ports. Russia is also using the region as a test bed for many of its new novel weapon systems.”

Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes apparently interrupted by law enforcement on live show

Proud Boys founder and far-right agitator Gavin McInnes was interrupted and disappeared during a livestream last night, with allies reporting that he had been arrested – possibly by the FBI.

Mr McInnes, a notoriously misogynistic, racist and homophobic activist who pioneered a now-familiar style of violent right-wing organisation blended with internet troll-style intellectual posturing, was hosting his Get Off My Lawn show on Thursday when unidentified people apparently entered his studio.
