Toronto may have to scale back on FIFA World Cup budget after provincial ‘crawback’: Chow

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow says the city is facing a nearly $40 million shortfall in money needed to host six FIFA World Cup matches next year, after a new report revealed that a substantial amount of funding pledged by the province will be used up for various services.

Chow said the city did not anticipate service costs — including “beautification” of transit stations and security — to absorb nearly one-third of the $97 million contribution pledged by the Ontario government.

“The city cannot afford to pay more than what it can pay now. We can’t go and find any more cash, we just don’t have it,” Chow told reporters at a news conference ahead of the city council meeting Wednesday.

What a scam.

EU Spends €650 Million of Taxpayer Money on Policing ‘Hate Speech’

A new report reveals how the EU is spending more on censoring speech than curing cancer—using taxpayer money to crush dissent.

Ever since the withdrawal of USAID, people have started looking at how the EU spends their money—and each week seems to bring new shocking revelations of the absurd waste, corruption, and socio-political engineering that Brussels has been financing.

Now, a new report from the conservative think tank MCC Brussels, released today, sheds light on yet another troubling trend—taxpayer-funded “research” on so-called “hate speech” and “disinformation,” described by the author as a key part of the EU’s efforts to control the narrative of public discourse and crack down on dissenting voices.

‘Totally unacceptable’ that IDF fired shots near Canadians, Carney says

Prime Minister Mark Carney says it’s “totally unacceptable” that members of the Israeli army fired shots near a diplomatic delegation, which included Canadians, in the West Bank on Wednesday.

The federal government confirmed Wednesday that four members of a Canadian delegation were part of a tour in the city of Jenin when members of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) fired in their vicinity. Two were Canadians and two were local staff, Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand’s office said.

Carney picked a side. And now this. The future looks ugly.

Israeli Embassy staffers Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim ID’d as couple fatally shot by terrorist who yelled ‘Free, free Palestine’ near DC’s Capital Jewish Museum

Shooter was once linked to the Party for Socialism and Liberation — a far-left group that regularly posts anti-Israel rhetoric on social media.

Keep the Dog …

Asylum seeker brings dog to Britain by small boat

A German shepherd has become the first dog to make the perilous journey across the Channel in a dinghy after landing with its owner on the south coast.

The animal’s owner is believed to have been housed in a hotel for asylum seekers for the past four months since arriving from France, while the dog has been held in quarantine.

Discussions are believed to be under way about officers adopting the dog, whose breed can be easily trained, as an official Border Force dog, according to The Sun.

They should have tossed the illegal alien back into the channel.

McLELAN: Liberal pipeline policy needs a driver, not a backseat full of activists

Brian Burke, the famously blunt former NHL general manager, once told team ownership in a job interview, “There will be only two hands on the steering wheel, and they’ll both be mine.” It was his way of telling the billionaire owners that he would be calling the shots and taking full responsibility for them.

That quote is starting to feel more and more relevant to national pipeline policy under the Carney Liberals. Except in Ottawa, it’s not about one person with two hands. It’s more like a guessing game of whose hands are even on the wheel — and whether anyone in the vehicle has a valid license.

Conrad Black: Spain’s Massive Blackouts a Cautionary Tale for Canada

Three weeks ago, all of Spain was startled by a complete electricity blackout without warning. Air traffic control could not contact airplanes, trains stalled in stations or stopped on their tracks mid-journey, telecommunications were knocked out, and a national emergency was declared. These blackouts spread into southern France and Portugal, conveying the regrettable and apparently unsuspected message that if one nation mismanages its grid, it takes its neighbours down with it.

Is AOC’s Engagement Off?

Is she or isn’t she?

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Workers’ Paradise) announced her engagement way back in 2022, but it’s three years later now, and questions have begun to swirl around her marital plans. This is not just a matter of leftist schoolgirls dreaming of emulating Comrade Heroine, or even of disappointed young blokes who yearn to take the place of the beta schlub AOC apparently plans to marry. It actually involves serious ethics violations, which just a scant few months ago Democrats could commit by the bucketload without fear of the slightest consequences beyond a few curmudgeons grumbling at Frontpage Magazine. Now, however, it’s a different story.

LILLEY: Toronto Police document accuses Israel of ethnic cleansing

The knock against the Toronto Police Service over the past 19 months is that they have engaged in two-tier policing. Specifically, when it comes to policing protests that are pro-Palestinian, in many cases outright pro-Hamas, that TPS takes a hands-off approach – that is when they aren’t delivering them coffee and donuts.

Granting one side exclusive rights to present their narrative as the only truth is a not policing it is the handiwork of those who use the police as private mercenaries to silence dissent.

Abolish the speech laws

One racist tweet wouldn’t ordinarily generate so much discussion. On Elon Musk’s X, they’re now 10 a penny. But Northampton childminder Lucy Connolly and the 51 words she posted in the wake of the Southport killings last summer – in which she said ‘set fire to all the fucking hotels full of the bastards [meaning migrants] for all I care’ – have become a key test in our commitment to freedom of speech, which far too many are failing.

John Ivison: Punitive taxes are killing the legal cannabis industry

If you want to be a millionaire, start with a billion dollars and launch a cannabis production company in Canada.

In the original version of his famous quote, British entrepreneur Richard Branson was highlighting the challenges and capital intensive nature of the airline industry. But a new report by consultancy firm Deloitte, due for release on Wednesday, paints a similar picture.

Biden officials hid deadly health risks of COVID vaccines, bombshell Congressional report reveals

The Biden administration has been accused of purposefully covering up potentially deadly side effects of the Covid vaccines.

A Congressional investigation found White House officials held back warnings about heart damage from Covid vaccines in younger people, even after getting early alerts from other countries, including Israel.

Internal emails and memos suggest that a planned Health Alert Network (HAN) message by the CDC regarding myocarditis was not released.

France Finally Admits Muslim Brotherhood Threat After Decades of Silence

An Islamic network grew in plain sight while the elites looked the other way.

For decades, mass immigration from the Muslim world was observed in France with a mix of ideological condescension and institutional passivity. Under the pretext of diversity and tolerance, growing signs of radicalization and Islamist infiltration were ignored—if not outright justified—leading to the formation of ghettos in the heart of major cities.

Today, French intelligence services are sounding the alarm over the insidious advance of the Muslim Brotherhood. They do so through a declassified report, submitted to the Ministry of the Interior and published exclusively by Le Figaro, which paints a portrait of a country undermined from within by an ideological and organizational structure that has operated with impunity for over half a century.

Canadians have more trust in Carney than they did in Trudeau: Poll

OTTAWA — Canadians have more trust in Prime Minister Mark Carney now than they did in former prime minister Justin Trudeau after he was first elected and during his last days in office, a new poll suggests.

The Proof Strategies CanTrust Index survey, conducted annually by The Logit Group, polled 1,250 Canadians between May 5 and 14.

That’s like asking who’s your favourite crook.
