Is it R.I.P. for the federal NDP? Not quite, experts say

The New Democratic Party’s devastating electoral losses do not translate to a death knell for the party but are an important signal that some significant structural changes are needed, analysts say.

“I don’t believe the claims that this is it for the NDP,” said Andrea Lawlor, an associate professor of political science at McMaster University.

“But for them it is the type of organizational crisis that is going to require a lot of attention and soul-searching in order to get back on a footing where they are viewed by Canadians as a really fundamental third option.”

Mould found in only half of the Royal Canadian Navy’s frigates

RCN Frigate “Mouldy”

Mould has been discovered in nearly half of the Royal Canadian Navy’s 12 frigates.

Cheryl Forrest, who speaks for National Defence, confirmed that mould has been found in five frigates, the most recent on HMCS Vancouver this year.

“Small amounts of mould have been reported in two areas of high humidity on HMCS Vancouver recently and were quickly removed and the areas cleaned,” Forrest said in an email. “This also resulted in enhanced inspections of similar areas of concern on the ship with no other mould areas reported.”

Building America‘s Future: ‘It’s Time to Take President Trump’s Southern Border Playbook to the North‘

“It’s time to take President Trump’s southern border playbook to the north,” Building America’s Future (BAF) makes clear in its latest campaign, reviewed first by Breitbart News.

The latest ad comes as an expansion of BAF’s original “Chaos at the Border” campaign, which saw the conservative non-profit spending nearly $2 million highlighting the serious consequences of the Biden-Harris administration’s open border policies.

In contrast, the new campaign ad, “Predator,” actually focuses on the northern border, which notoriously receives far less attention. Regardless, BAF makes it clear in this six-figure campaign that there are still criminals who are exploiting the loose policies of our northern neighbor, Canada.

The Star is concerned about Pierre Poilievre’s future

‘It’s an unmitigated disaster’: Conservative insiders debate Pierre Poilievre’s future as leader after election defeat

OTTAWA — Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is not the prime minister. As of Tuesday morning, he was not even an MP.

At the nexus of those two outcomes, which just months ago would have been nearly unthinkable, is a maelstrom of questions: How are Conservatives processing the results? Can Poilievre stay on as leader after failing to form government and losing the seat he has represented for more than 20 years? And how can he helm a newly expanded caucus from outside the House of Commons?

‘The west really doesn’t count’: Election called just as B.C. polls closed — again

Once again, a federal election call was made well before western votes had a chance to be considered, leaving some voters feeling disenfranchised, as if their votes don’t matter.

On Monday night, at about 7:15 p.m. PT, media outlets, including CBC News, projected the Liberals would form the next government.

That was 15 minutes after polls had closed in B.C., and not long after they closed in Alberta. The election call was made knowing only the early results of the more Eastern provinces.

Spain’s PM accused of putting net-zero ideology first after blackout chaos

Spain’s Socialist prime minister was accused of putting green ideology ahead of energy security after a massive blackout plunged the country into chaos on Monday.

Alberto Núñez Feijóo, leader of the opposition People’s Party, said Pedro Sánchez was covering up information about the cause of the power cut and that the prime minister was prioritising green ideology in his energy policy.

The prime minister is “saddling our energy system with a massive ideological burden”, Mr Feijóo said on Tuesday.

Pierre Poilievre was the right man for the moment. Then the moment changed – and he failed to adapt

Pierre Poilievre spent 20 years being a certain type of politician: the prosecutor, the pest, the attack dog. He’d bare his teeth when he sat in the government front benches, even when most cabinet members would tuck their tails and flip on their backs to defuse opposition attacks. That wasn’t Mr. Poilievre’s way.

That’s why he was so perfect for the political moment in late 2023 and 2024, when Canadians’ economic anxieties and frustrations about this country’s many deficiencies bubbled over. Mr. Poilievre became a vessel for that anger: someone who could give literal voice in Parliament to all the ways they believed the government had failed them. Canadians needed a pit bull, and Mr. Poilievre provided.

TDS on Steroids: Canada Elects a Prime Minister to Spite Trump

You think American leftists have Trump Derangement Syndrome? They’ve got nothing on Canadians, who just chose to remain on the path of national decline and self-destruction that they’ve been on for the last ten years, just to spite Donald Trump. Three people were killed in a shooting in the Swedish city of Uppsala on Tuesday, police said.
