Proving the Point: German Journalist Convicted for Free Speech Meme

Despicable woman

In a despicable attack on the freedom of speech, a German right-wing journalist has been sentenced to seven months’ probation for mocking left-wing Interior Minister Nancy Faeser.

In its verdict on Monday, April 7th, the district court in the Bavarian town of Bamberg also ordered David Bendels to apologise in writing to Nancy Faeser.

‘Quebec doesn’t have the capacity’: Bloc urges Ottawa to send some refugee claimants to other provinces

Amid rising numbers of asylum seekers in Quebec from the U.S., Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet is urging the federal government to speed up processing and distribute arrivals more evenly across the country.

“We need to act. We need to move much more quickly,” Blanchet said at a campaign stop in Ottawa on Tuesday.

EYRE: Pablum for the people, why the media is Poilievre’s greatest threat

If you want to catch Pierre Poilievre in any detail, you have to do it early — in his morning media scrums on 24-hour news channels — before the ‘cycle’ takes over, and his points and his audience have been clipped, cropped, and culled.

For years, pundits have paraphrased his words, scarcely showing him actually speak (even while occasionally praising his political prowess.) To get around the media, Poilievre has had to post videos on social. Now, he’s accused of avoiding the media and not properly getting his message out (et tu, Kory Teneycke?)

The Poverty of the Criticism of Trump’s Agenda

The left rages against Trump but offers no real alternatives on debt, trade, or immigration—just noise, while results quietly pile up.

Two strange phenomena now characterize the political landscape.

One, opposition to the Trump administration’s initiatives has reached a near-unprecedented fever pitch.

The frenzy is manifested in strange ways. At the bottom end, there is an epidemic of street terrorism, including the keying of Teslas, bullying their owners, firebombing dealerships, or vandalizing charging stations.

Anthony Furey: Millennials, talk to a Liberal boomer about your future

There is a stark divide playing out in the current federal election. It may not be dominating the headlines right now, but it’s definitely there — bubbling below the surface with the potential to erupt at any moment.

It’s the divide between generations, between the old, who are comfortable with the status quo, and the young, who are desperate to break free towards a brighter future.

Who really makes up the ‘Resistance?’

It was as though NPR had manifested itself in human form

As soon as reports began appearing from last Saturday’s massive “Hands Off” protests in the United States, the usual right-wing canards began to pop up as well: doctored photos, overstated crowds and, most stereotypically, professional paid protesters. Tweet after tweet showed the usual Craigslist ad, offering $200 for anyone who’d be willing to stand around with a placard for a couple of hours.

No one would argue that there’s a professional protest infrastructure in the United States, and that if you followed the money trail, you could trace a lot of the funding back to the kinds of NGOs that the government is trying to defund and shut down. The sinister invisible hand of the Soros family is dipping in there somewhere. But it’s ludicrous to imagine that they’re spending that money to buy protesters. They don’t need to.

The Liars Are Out in Force Thanks to the ‘Liberation Day’ Tariffs

Answers to Mrs. Hitler

This column isn’t what you probably expect it to be. I’m sure you read that headline and expected we’re going to be decrying the legacy corporate propaganda press and its ubiquitous fearmongering over the economic effects of the tariffs which went into place last week as President Trump seeks to rebalance the relationships between the United States and the rest of the world on trade.

I could do multiple columns on that subject. Instead, I’ll just throw in this X conversation…

Stephen Harper says Canada’s problems not created by Trump as he endorses Pierre Poilievre

Former prime minister Stephen Harper says Canada’s problems weren’t created by the Trump administration as he made an impassioned pitch for Pierre Poilievre to become Canada’s next prime minister and downplayed Liberal Leader Mark Carney’s role during the 2008 global financial crisis.

Mr. Harper appeared at Mr. Poilievre’s rally in Edmonton on Monday night to introduce the Conservative Leader to a crowd of thousands who packed into at a warehouse south of the city. The rally, which is the 11th of the campaign, was the largest one so far, with organizers saying upwards of 10,000 people registered for the event.

‘Smart Cities’ for a Supposedly Stupid People

Has the West Dodged the World Economic Forum’s Totalitarian Global Control?

Once upon a time, long before the Covid-19 lockdowns, the West pretended to be concerned about things such as freedom, the right to privacy, and the dangers of surveillance and data harvesting from its citizens. China’s surveillance police state was, at least publicly, mostly described as an abomination that threatened human rights — not an example to emulate.

Sadly, that no longer seems to be the case. For years, in the name of environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, safety and convenience, the United Nations and the World Economic Forum (WEF), led by Klaus Schwab, have been promoting global surveillance in the form of so-called “smart cities.” In China, already by 2018, there were more than 500 smart cities in place.

COVID-19 rules barring protests in 2021 were unconstitutional: Ontario’s top court

Ontario’s top court has ruled that provincial restrictions on gatherings that prohibited peaceful protests for several weeks during the COVID-19 pandemic were unconstitutional.

The Court of Appeal for Ontario made the finding today in a case brought by former Ontario legislator Randy Hillier, who faced several charges for organizing or hosting protests against pandemic measures while the rules were in effect in the spring of 2021.

Hillier appealed after the judge who heard his application found that while the limits on gatherings did infringe on his right to peaceful assembly, they were justified and therefore constitutional.

Bill Maher Had This Acute Observation About Trump

There’s a lot of chatter about Bill Maher meeting with President Donald Trump. The noted and vocal Trump critic accepted a private dinner invitation from the president, which the comedian and late-night HBO host graciously accepted. He doesn’t care if his liberal audience finds this a deplorable act, promptly saying these people could f**k off: it’s the president of the United States. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime invitation. You go no matter who occupies the White House. Maher reportedly came with a copy of every insult he hurled at Trump; he autographed it.

Alberta premier suggests Mark Carney has issues with ‘strong conservative women’

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith responded Monday to Liberal Leader Mark Carney using her as a stump speech punchline, saying Carney has issues with assertive women of opposing ideologies.

“I’ve noticed this with progressive men and how much they talk about how much they support women until they meet a strong conservative woman,” Smith said in Edmonton, responding to questions at an unrelated news conference.

WashPost Fawns Over Final Season of ‘Handmaid’s Tale,’ Ducks Moss’s Scientology

In a huge, five-page, 3,200-word spread in Sunday’s Washington Post, Style section writer Jada Yuan heaped more liberal bile on the grossly anti-Christian, anti-family, pro-baby death, and far-left crowd behind the show The Handmaid’s Tale ahead of its final season. As is usually the case with puff pieces on the show, Yuan left out that star Elizabeth Moss is a devout Scientology which, if there ever was a dangerous cult, that’s it.
