Compact magazine last week published one of the most disturbing yet culturally important articles of the decade. In The Vanishing White Male Writer, author Jacob Savage describes the cold war against male Caucasian fiction authors waged by the left-dominated publishing industry since, no surprise, the Obama years. Savage starts his piece with irrefutable proof of this outrage, citing the golden fleece for young novelists, The New York Times’ “Notable Fiction” list.

In 2018, I wrote a piece here at Bearing Arms about the dangers of the mob going after ideological opponents. At the time, left-leaning mobs were hounding any Republican they could find out and about, even if they were just trying to eat a meal. I was actually looking for something else I was sure I wrote here and stumbled on it, but it sort of felt important to look at it a bit in light of what we’re currently seeing all around us.
USAID, ISRAEL, SWATTING, & WAR:
Now, about that USAID rabbit hole I’ve been promising you….
Last week, my home was “swatted,” which is nothing less than attempted murder by proxy.
But why?
Let’s try to connect some dots. pic.twitter.com/ok7IyBPm6W

The family of migrants hiking across the US-Canada border under the cover of darkness through thick snow had apparently underestimated the harsh and unwelcoming forestland that links the two countries.
The parents had lost their shoes along the route, the toddlers were not dressed for winter.
Undetected by border patrol and with hypothermia starting to set in, the mother reluctantly made the call for help shortly after 3am.

In December 2024, after an offensive lasting less than two weeks that swept through much of Syria, a Turkish-backed Sunni militia led by Ahmed al-Sharaa ousted the Assad regime, which had ruled the country for 54 years.
From March 6-9 – unchecked by al-Sharaa’s professedly “moderate” interim government – his jihadist troops slaughtered an estimated 1,080 Syrians in 72 hours, apparently mostly civilian members of the minority Alawite religion. The Alawite sect, which split off from Shia Islam in the ninth century, is regarded by other Shiites as heretical. To people who practice Sunni Islam — the religion of al-Sharaa and Turkey — all non-Sunnis are infidels. Alawites are estimated to be up to 10% of Syria’s population, and the deposed Assad family belong to the sect.

This embodiment of globalism finds himself championing national sovereignty just as Trump eyes a North American union
Mark Carney is the very embodiment of the globalist ideal that ruled the world for a quarter-century after the end of the Cold War. Born in the mid-1960s in the far Northwest Territories, he grew up in Alberta in the kind of place previous generations would never have left. But the brilliant kid from a large Catholic family won a scholarship to Harvard and then took a masters and doctorate at Oxford.

Rachel DelGuidice at Fox News reports that Time magazine is upset that ICE has detained an illegal immigrant they touted in their “Time100” most influential people of 2017. She’s been caught up in “Donald Trump’s politicized deportation crackdown,” as if Time never politicized immigration under Trump.

Uber is trialling taxis without drivers across America – but how safe are they really?
The driver of the car beside me realises, too late, that he is in the wrong lane. As the lights change he darts forward, directly into our path. With a whirl of the steering wheel, my Uber swerves, just in time to avoid collision. It’s lucky, as it turns out, that there wasn’t anyone in the driver’s seat – I’m not sure human reflexes would have been fast enough.
I’m in downtown Austin, Texas, where I’ve spent the day trialling the latest revolution from taxi company Uber: self-driving cars.

Millions of people will have their DNA data put up for sale after major at-home testing company 23andMe filed for bankruptcy.
The company, which has tested more than 15m people’s genetic makeup using post-in saliva kits, including more than 250,000 in the UK, announced that it had entered US bankruptcy protection in an attempt to sell the company.
It said that data privacy would be an “important consideration” but added that it was seeking to “maximise the value of its assets”.

… During a March 8 interview with Breitbart, a right-wing U.S. media company, Smith said the Conservative Party of Canada was far ahead of the governing Liberal Party in polls before the trade war. But the threat of “unjust and unfair tariffs” had boosted Liberal support.
Smith told U.S. administration officials that she hoped “we could put things on pause,” so Canada could get through an election, she told Breitbart. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is more aligned with the Trump administration’s agenda, Smith said.
A “a right-wing U.S. media company”? The Pol Pot Post is probably to the right of CBC.

The left is already in a hissy fit over President Trump’s efforts to dismantle the Department of Education, and I’m sure they won’t be happy that there’s another despised government agency that appears to be targeted for downsizing as well.

MONTREAL — NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh opened the 2025 election campaign heading east to Montreal, diving into a region where his party has struggled in recent years, but once found historic success in the “Orange Wave” of another era.
It was part of a defiant tone struck by Singh in his opening act of the campaign, as he refused to submit to the judgments of national polls and a political class that suggested his party was in big trouble.
Soiled himself Singh made his own brand toxic.

Multiple incendiary devices were found inside a Tesla showroom in Austin, Texas, on Monday morning as nationwide threats against CEO Elon Musk continue.
Austin Police Department officers were called to the electric vehicle showroom just after 8am after an anonymous caller reported that there were bombs placed inside the building.
Authorities rushed to the scene and located multiple ‘suspicious devices’ at the Tesla dealership. The Austin Police Department Bomb Squad were also called to help.
This astute political analyst theorizes that Elon Musk is setting fire to his own cars for the insurance money.

They say that in politics, timing is everything. On Sunday, as the long-awaited federal election campaign finally kicked off, there was a funhouse-mirror quality to the way everyone played with the notion of time.
Liberal Leader Mark Carney made the ritualistic visit to Rideau Hall to ask the Governor-General to kill off this Parliament and send Canadians to the polls, and then he stepped to a lectern just outside the front doors to speak to the media.
