Cambridge causes bitter row by linking scientists such as Stephen Hawking to slavery

Cambridge University has become embroiled in a row over claims that scientists including the late Professor Stephen Hawking benefited from slavery.

The university’s Fitzwilliam Museum is holding an exhibition titled Rise Up, which covers abolition movements, rebellions and modern-day “racist injustices”.

It claims that figures including George Darwin, Charles Darwin’s son, were supported by investments in the slave trade.

Jack Mintz: The death of the carbon tax

Is the carbon tax dead in Canada? Yet-to-be-elected Prime Minister Mark Carney has not actually eliminated the fuel charge paid by consumers and low-emitting businesses, which only Parliament can do. But he has lowered its rate to zero. On the other hand, he intends to raise carbon taxes on big emitters. This week, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre upped his “axe the tax” ante to the federal tax on big emitters but would leave the provinces and territories in charge of their own schemes.

Conrad Black: Attempted cultural suicide

This column is prompted by the refusal of the Powell River newspaper, the Powell River Peak, to publish an advertisement for a talk to be given on March 30 in Powell River by Frances Widdowson, a contributor to the excellent book “Grave Error.” It was an honour to have been asked to contribute a foreword to that book, which was a carefully researched collection of learned and impartial opinions about the controversy in 2021 over the so-called unmarked graves of Indigenous children near the Kamloops Indian Residential School. The excuse given in writing by the publisher of the Peak, Kelly Keil, on March 17 for refusing to advertise this event was that “Grave Error” “appears to centre around the denial of well-documented historical facts regarding residential schools, which contradicts the overwhelming evidence provided by survivors, historical records and independent inquiries.… Our advertising standards require that we do not publish content that promotes misinformation or undermines established historical facts. This is not an issue of limiting free expression but rather of ensuring that our platform is not used to spread content that distorts history and may cause harm, particularly to Indigenous communities.… We cannot in good conscience facilitate the promotion of material it denies documented historical atrocities.“

University of Maine Flinches, Agrees To Protect Women’s Sports Following Trump Admin Funding Threat

The University of Maine (UMaine) system decided to “side with sanity,” according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), agreeing not to allow male athletes to compete in female sports following a federal funding threat from the Trump administration.

According to USDA, the UMaine system (a network of eight universities) will comply with President Donald Trump’s executive order that threatens to pull federal funding from schools that allow transgender-identifying athletes to compete in sports that do not align with their actual sex.

Canada’s Liberal government supports men raping women’s sports. Reason enough for Trump to invade.

A savage rupturing of our civilisation

They reduced Jews to ashes. In 2023, a fascist army burnt Jews to death. The Jews’ names were Ram Itamari, 56, a transportation manager, and his wife, Lili Itamari, 63, a schoolteacher. They were in their home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza in southern Israel on 7 October 2023 when the unit of anti-Semites showed up. The gunmen saw the Jews through a window so they set fire to the house. It burned at such a scorching temperature that when the Israeli authorities finally went in, they found not one trace of the couple’s bodies. It took archaeologists three weeks of sifting through the soot to discover a sliver of bone. It was DNA-tested. It was them.

US army veterans fight and die in the fields of Ukraine

The Americans were pinned down, lying prone among sunflower stalks as they took rocket fire from Russian positions across the fields. Then, mortar burst in the air above them. All seven of Delta Team were wounded, some repeatedly.

“I remember looking at one sunflower that was taller than the weeds while I was holding pressure on Dubs’ wounds, thinking we are all going to bleed out and die here,” said “Tango”, the Delta Team medic who was hit with shrapnel four times. One of the 24 shards that entered his body and sliced into the sciatic nerve in his leg.

Reclaiming Control of America’s Immigration System

In biology, the membrane defines the boundary of a cell, regulating what enters and exits to ensure the cell’s survival. Without this boundary, the cell disintegrates.

Similarly, a nation’s border defines its sovereignty, regulating the flow of people, goods, and ideas to protect its identity and security. President Donald Trump captured this truth when he asserted, “We do not have a state without a border.”

The Left Knew They Were Lying to Us All Along

For years, the left has advanced utter untruths for cheap partisan purposes that it knew at the time were all false. And now when caught, they just shrug and say they were lying all along.

Once it was known that the first COVID-19 case originated in or near a Chinese communist virology lab engineering gain-in-function deadly viruses—with help from Western agencies—the left went into full persecution mode.

They damned as incompetent, racist, and conspiratorial any who dared follow logic and evidence to point out that the Chinese government and its military were both culpable for the virus and lying.

American Women Are Giving Up on Marriage

After a handful of underwhelming relationships and dozens of disappointing first dates, Andrea Vorlicek recently called off the search for a husband.

The 29-year-old always thought she’d have found her life partner by now. Instead, she’s house hunting solo and considering having kids on her own.

“I’m financially self-sufficient enough to do these things myself,” said Vorlicek, a Boston-based accountant. “I’m willing to accept being single versus settling for someone who isn’t the right fit.”

The downfall of climate change poster boy Michael Mann

‘If Mann cannot even be trusted to tell the truth when he’s under oath & in court on pain of perjury, why on earth should any of us take him seriously on the subject of climate change?’

Even if you’ve never heard of Michael Mann, you will have felt his baleful influence on your energy bills. He is the inventor of the hockey stick chart, which shows a sharp increase in late 20th century global temperatures, like the blade of an ice hockey stick. It put rocket boosters on the climate change scare and was used as an excuse by policymakers to send green taxes, tariffs and regulations soaring.

Mann was an obscure academic who had just been given his PhD at the University of Massachusetts when his graph was published in the journal Nature in 1998. Within months – fêted everywhere from the New York Times to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) – he’d become the poster boy for the alleged global warming apocalypse. Never before had a scientist demonstrated the threat of imminent climate catastrophe so graphically or dramatically.

Why Canada’s housing crunch isn’t going away

In the past year, multiple federal and provincial politicians finally recognized one important reason why Canada’s housing shortage in the last decade became severe, rents soared, and home prices stayed at nosebleed levels: unsustainably high immigration rates, which recent minor reductions have barely begun to address.

In other words, the politicians finally figured out what any first-year economics student could have told them: markets have two sides — supply and demand.

FBI Arrests Former Anti-Trump Agent for Disclosing Confidential Info In New Book

A former FBI agent who played a key role in opposing President Donald Trump’s first term has now been charged with disclosing confidential information, raising serious concerns about the integrity of law enforcement agencies and their political neutrality. This troubling development underscores the pattern of misconduct within the FBI under previous administrations, where partisan bias has influenced critical decisions.

King Charles Is Rooting For Canada. You Just Didn’t Notice.

The King of Canada wants President Trump to back off. Just don’t expect him to actually say that publicly.

Britain’s King Charles III, who is also Canada’s head of state, is wrestling with an unprecedented diplomatic headache. The monarch wants to stand up for the largest country in his realm as

Trump talks about turning it into the 51st U.S. state. At the same time he has to honor the British government’s desire that he keep Trump, who deeply admires the royal family, sweet.

The result has been a master class in passive-aggressive pageantry from Buckingham Palace.
