Insiders say Pierre Poilievre called Doug Ford for help — and the premier said he was too busy

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre called Doug Ford to ask for his help in the upcoming federal election campaign, but the premier told him he would be too busy governing Ontario, the Star has learned.

Federal and provincial Tory sources said Poilievre phoned the premier on Monday to belatedly offer his congratulations for the Progressive Conservatives’ Feb. 27 re-election.

The conversation — 18 days after Ford’s victory, which then-prime minister Justin Trudeau had saluted moments after it was official — lasted almost half an hour.

Canadian Journalists Try to Shut Down Reporting on New Prime Minister’s ‘Trans’ Daughter

This week, a Canadian conservative news outlet, True North, reported on an essay written by the daughter of Canada’s new prime minister for Yale University’s feminist magazine. The woman, Sophia Carney, who is now going by Sasha, is 24 years old, graduated from Yale two years ago, and stylizes herself as an activist and writer.

Yet Canada’s journalists are up in arms over True North’s revelations. They are refusing to report True North’s findings and are slamming those who even speak of them.

Why might that be? Why, of course, it’s because True North’s reporting, which discusses Sasha Carney’s (public) transgender identity, touches upon the topic of child “gender transitions.”

We blew the whistle on the Covid lab leak five years ago and were written off as cranks

If they’re supposed to be members of a band of truculent conspiracy theorists intent on disrupting the machine of the state, Prof Gwythian Prins and John Constable don’t exactly seem like it.

“In some sense we’re all classic establishment figures… but slightly to one side of it,” Constable says, an observation at which Prins nods vigorously. Turning up at a pub just off Trafalgar Square (where Whitehall meets Clubland and visitors to the country mingle with the people who run it) the two men are immaculately turned out and mildly uneasy.

Who Are the Shadowy Figures Defending Mahmoud Khalil?

The accused Hamas sympathizer is shrouded in mystery—and so are his supporters.

As it unfurls, the saga of Mahmoud Khalil—the Columbia agitator picked up by immigration enforcement last week—looks less like a complicated immigration-law dispute and more like something out of a John le Carré novel.

But inspect the details, and Khalil’s case gives us a glimpse a well-established network linking American universities, international progressive NGOs, and government agencies. This network places ideologues like Khalil in positions of power and influence and promoting radical policies that challenge both the will of American voters and our national-security interests.

Both the U.S. and Canada should try a little self-awareness

Sun Tzu and Machiavelli – two of history’s greatest experts on power – were of the view that countries or leaders could only achieve success if they had self-awareness of one’s strengths and weaknesses. “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. … If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle,” Sun Tzu wrote.

It is as valid a proposition today as it was in their times, and self-awareness is likely attained as rarely as it was in ancient China or Renaissance Italy. Indeed, neither Canada nor the United States get great marks for self-awareness today.

Palestinians: ‘We Are Dying Because of Hamas’

Palestinians are again paying a heavy price as a result of Hamas’s refusal to release the remaining 59 Israeli hostages (almost half of whom are believed to be dead) held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. On that day, thousands of Hamas terrorists and ordinary Palestinians invaded Israel, murdering 1,200 Israelis and wounding thousands others. Another 251 Israelis – alive and dead – were kidnapped to the Gaza Strip.

Since then, Hamas could have avoided much of the death and destruction it brought on the Palestinians by simply releasing all the hostages, laying down its weapons and relinquishing control of the Gaza Strip.

Almost 70,000 South Africans interested in US asylum

Close to 70,000 South Africans have expressed interest in moving to the US following Washington’s offer to resettle people from the country’s Afrikaner community, a business group has said.

The South African Chamber of Commerce in the USA (Saccusa) said its website received tens of thousands of registrations from those seeking more information.

In a February executive order, President Donald Trump said Afrikaners – descendants of mainly Dutch settlers who arrived in the 17th Century – could be admitted as refugees as they were “victims of unjust racial discrimination”.

Toronto: Prosecutors want Muslim charged with advocating genocide to be handled as case of terrorism

Crown attorneys pursuing charges against a Toronto man accused of promoting genocide against Jews and vandalizing multiple synagogues want the case prosecuted as terrorism.

He’s going to be released under house arrest on account he’s not a white person.

So Another Male Feminist Turns Out to Be a Social Media Perv

Give some credit to young Democrat hustle Harry Sisson, reluctant as you may be, for turning some small amount of social media savvy into a lucrative career as a progressive influencer — not to mention all those sweet young ladies that the 23-year-old professional Democrat has reportedly tried to con into sending him their most intimate photos of themselves.

Trump: America has been ‘raped and pillaged’ by Europe

The United States has been “raped and pillaged” by the EU, Donald Trump has said in a fresh jibe at European allies amid an expanding trade war.

Addressing his plans to reduce the national debt by imposing trade tariffs, the President claimed that America has been taken advantage of for years by its allies.

“For years, we allowed our country to be raped and pillaged,” Mr Trump told Fox News presenter Laura Ingraham on Wednesday night. “Much of it was done by our friends. Look at the European Union.”

As many as 80 Tesla vehicles damaged at dealership in Hamilton: police

Hamilton police say they are investigating a “series of mischiefs” after dozens of Tesla vehicles were damaged at a local dealership this week.

According to police, officers were called to a Tesla dealership, located at 999 Upper Wentworth Street, on Wednesday for a report of damage to some of the store’s inventory.

Vancouver International Auto Show removes Tesla over safety concerns

The Vancouver International Auto Show has removed U.S. electric carmaker Tesla from its event this week, saying its primary concern was the safety of attendees and exhibitors.

Tesla has faced numerous protests in Canada recently due to owner Elon Musk’s proximity to U.S. President Donald Trump, at a time when Trump has imposed 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian imports and publicly made threats of annexation towards the country.

Smells like terrorism to me.
