The Allison Pearson scandal is more sinister than you think

When the police knocked on Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson’s door last year, it prompted a justified national outcry. She was told by two officers on Remembrance Sunday that she was being investigated for ‘stirring up racial hatred’ – all because of a nearly year-old tweet, in which she mistook some British Pakistani protesters for pro-Hamas protesters and railed against ‘Jew haters’. That Pearson promptly deleted it soon after apparently made no difference.

DEI and the ‘Bigness’ Problem

For decades, the political left—and even parts of the right—have insisted that “diversity is our strength” and has striven to convince Americans (and other Westerners) of the importance and beauty of “multiculturalism” and other related social phenomena. Today, with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs and ideology under attack by most of the right and by the Trump Administration in particular, the left is howling that the nation’s principles themselves are being harmed and that we, as a people, are doing tremendous damage to the fabric of our society, sacrificing one of our most important characteristics on the altar of white privilege.

Trumping the bureaucracy

Workers at the U.S. African Development Foundation, a self-described independent agency, refused to let into its building the agency’s new acting director on Wednesday.

So much for the peaceful transition of power.

The agency has 55 employees and an annual budget of $45 million. USADF has been around longer than Fauci and it is just as useless and full of itself.

Is MAGA Wrong on Ukraine? Douglas Murray thinks so. I don’t.

I am hardly alone among conservatives in stating that I greatly admire Douglas Murray, a fierce opponent of wokeness, defender of Israel, and author of such must-reads as The Strange Death of Europe and The War on the West. And that is why his latest piece in The Spectator, titled “The MAGA Movement is Wrong on Ukraine” is such a disappointment that I felt compelled to respond (the article is behind a paywall, unfortunately, but I have excerpted the key selections below).

“How can the right be so wrong? Or at least portions of the right – especially the American right – when it comes to Ukraine?” Murray asks and then explains.

No one wants Ukraine to fall but those attacking the US should validate their concern by helping pay the bills.

Braid: Invading Canada would spark guerrilla fight lasting decades, expert says

An expert on insurgency says an American military incursion into Canada would be a disaster — for the United States.

A military move by President Donald Trump could eventually destroy America’s worldwide power, says Dr. Aisha Ahmad, an associate professor at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Ahmad has studied insurgencies and visited many conflict zones for more than 20 years. She sees a pattern of resistance that repeats itself every time.

The English city where a staggeringly high percentage of women are married to their cousins

Sir Keir Starmer has signalled that he would block any attempt to ban first cousin marriage, a practice which remains prevalent in some UK communities – despite the genetic damage it can potentially do to offspring.

In Bradford, one of northern England’s biggest cities, nearly half (46 per cent) of the female Pakistani community were in a ‘consanguineous relationship’ meaning they have a common ancestor, a 2024 study found.

Independent MP Iqbal Mohamed drew huge flak in December last year after speaking against former Conservative minister Richard Holden’s motion pushing to ban first cousins from marrying.

‘Low-cost’ jihadists are Europe’s new danger

There is a new Islamist terror threat in Europe that the French describe as ‘low-cost terrorism’. The expression was deployed in a television interview at the start of this week by Bruno
Retailleau, the Minister of the Interior. Warning France that Islamic State are ‘reconstituting themselves in Africa and elsewhere’, Retailleau said that the other menace was the individual acting on his own initiative. Unskilled in bomb-making and with no access to firearms, these ‘low-cost’ Islamists kill with knives or behind the wheel of a car.

One of these ‘low-cost’ extremists was last week jailed for life by a French court. In October 2020, Tunisian Brahim Aouissaoui murdered three Christians with a knife outside a church in Nice. It was a ferocious assault; one of the victims, a 44-year-old woman, was stabbed 25 times.

Pierre Poilievre claimed Amira Elghawaby’s job combating Islamophobia was ‘useless’ — And he was RIGHT!

Pierre Poilievre claimed her job was ‘useless’ — but Amira Elghawaby says her role combating Islamophobia is needed more than ever

OTTAWA–In a political landscape that appears to be retreating from an emphasis on diversity and inclusion, Canada’s point-person on tackling Islamophobia says roles like hers are now needed more than ever.

“Democracy stands for ensuring that every citizen has the freedom to fully participate, to fully contribute,” said Amira Elghawaby, the country’s special representative on combating Islamophobia.

Infection point: How vaccine mandates killed the Justin Trudeau brand

The Prime Minister didn’t create the acrimony that divided the Canadian population, but he did exploit it for cynical political gain

Two different Justin Trudeaus stood outside Rideau Cottage nearly five years apart, each version of the Prime Minister delivering an address that, together, defined the arc of his time in leadership.

The first Trudeau stood alone, but he had the support of his caucus, and his country, behind him. He had a beard and a slight wave to his hair. He was still married; he told Canadians that his wife, Sophie, had just been diagnosed with COVID-19.
