Labour Islamophobia definition risks ‘blasphemy law by back door’

Islamist terrorism is the greatest threat this country faces, says former anti-extremism tsar Lord Walney

Just a matter of weeks ago, Lord Walney was serving in the heart of Government.

But then he had the disconcerting experience of being sacked by some of his oldest friends.

The peer and former Labour MP, who served for over four years as the Government’s independent adviser on political violence and extremism, was told in February by former party comrades at the Home Office that his job no longer existed.

I’m sure it will receive Royal approval.

Canada-U.S. Relations Continue to Reach Lows Over Tariffs and Annexation Threats

President Trump and Vice President JD Vance’s televised berating of President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine suggests that things could be worse between Canada and the U.S.

But when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau steps down in a few days, his successor will face the worst relations between the U.S. and Canada since the trade war of the Great Depression. Arguably they are nearing a nadir not seen since the 19th century.

After a week of confusing signals from the White House, Mr. Trump said he was committed to imposing potentially devastating 25 percent tariffs on most exports from Canada except oil and gas, which face a 10 percent tax.

Trudeau voices support for Ukraine following tense Trump-Zelenskyy meeting

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau voiced support for Ukraine after a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy went completely off the rails.

Trump and Vice-President JD Vance berated Zelenskyy at the White House on Friday as the leaders met to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, access to the country’s critical minerals and a potential ceasefire with Russia.

Both the Trudeau and Freeland posts are being ratio’d.

The Ukraine has a huge recruiting disaster on their hands.

People just will not sign up to fight and many have fled the country.

Unless and until the why behind the recruiting failure is answered it makes little sense to support Zelensky.

I suspect Ukraine became the Deep State’s replacement forever war having lost the Afghanistan trough.

Our treatment of gender-critical campaigner was ‘unacceptable’, police admit

Police have apologised over an investigation they mounted into a Newcastle United fan banned by the football club after expressing gender-critical views on social media.

Northumbria Police have told Linzi Smith that crucial elements of their investigation into claims she had committed a hate crime were not acceptable.

It said that while there was no misconduct by its officers, the way they handled her case and similar hate crime reports in future should be subject to further training.

Vance was bang on.

Mark Carney’s been branded a ‘globalist’ — and he’s just fine with that. Inside the world of the man who could be Canada’s next prime minister

OTTAWA — Not long after the Iron Curtain fell, Mark Carney found himself in the goalie crease of a Soviet-era hockey arena, taking professional-calibre shots from a cadre of Russian speedsters.

It was January 1993, and the young Canadian was in net for the Oxford Blues. The storied “ice hockey” club — with roots in the 19th century and a roster of alumni that includes Lester B. Pearson — had travelled from its prestigious British university to tour Russia after the collapse of the U.S.S.R.

A George Soros plot to kill DOGE… and the chilling media conspiracy to cover it all up!

Those getting all their news from the mainstream media may be forgiven this week for believing that there was a popular uprising underway against President Donald Trump’s assault on the federal bureaucracy.

‘Republicans Face Angry Voters at Town Halls, Hinting at Broader Backlash,’ blared a New York Times headline on Sunday.

‘GOP lawmakers confronted by constituents angry with Trump-Musk cuts,’ reported CBS News last Friday.

Prince Harry makes veiled attack on Trump and Musk

The Duke of Sussex has launched a veiled attack on Donald Trump and Elon Musk, criticising the “sickness in leadership” in politics and tech.

Prince Harry made an unannounced appearance at the Upfront Summit in Los Angeles on Thursday evening when he warned that “basic morals and empathy” have been “abandoned in favour of power and control”.

His speech at the annual event hosting more than 1,000 investors, entrepreneurs and leaders in tech, came just hours after Sir Keir Starmer met Mr Trump at the White House, delivering a handwritten invitation from the King.

COOPER: Needed, a Canadian Elon and some Musk-rats

The New Deal of R.B. Bennett during the late 1930s expanded the purpose of the federal government in Canada. The expansion continued during the war under William Lyon Mackenzie King, and afterwards as well, now justified by Keynesian economic intervention. For more than half a century the public service in Ottawa grew and grew.

The Americans followed a similar trajectory and added the Great Society program of President Johnson in the mid-1960s. In Canada a few years later the impact of Pierre Trudeau’s “Just Society” proposals had less of an impact, but the centralization and triumph of expert bureaucratic control of the daily life of Canadians was, if anything, greater than it was in the States.

How the Trump, Zelensky meeting went off the rails

Efforts to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine were left in tatters following President Trump’s confrontational White House meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which erupted into one of the most remarkable Oval Office scenes in years.

Zelensky arrived at the White House on Friday with the hopes of signing a critical minerals deal with the U.S. and securing assurances from Trump as he seeks to broker peace between Kyiv and Moscow. But negotiations ended shortly after they started, with Trump calling Zelensky “disrespectful” and saying he was “not ready for peace.”

Alex Marlow: JD Vance Busted Zelensky for Campaigning with Democrats to Keep the Gravy Train Flowing

Media silent went Biden got into shouting match with ungrateful Zelenskyy in 2022

AI but fun!

Zelensky was always prone to grandstanding, an actor he sought time on Hollywood award shows to win the hearts and minds of I don’t know who Rap singers I presume.

But campaigning for the Democrats was the worst role he ever undertook.

Starmer provokes diplomatic row by refusing to back Canada against Trump’s 51st state plan

A diplomatic row has exploded after Sir Keir Starmer declined to back Canada against Donald Trump’s ambitions to turn it into the 51st state of the USA.

A Conservative MP in Canada and a former ambassador are among those to criticise the UK prime minister for failing to stand up for their country.

Mr Trump has made repeatedly made calls for Canada to become America’s 51st state in recent months, including a claim that without a massive subsidy from the US “Canada ceases to exist as a viable country”.

The backlash followed The Independent’s White House correspondent Andrew Feinberg challenging Sir Keir on his position on Canada during a press conference after the meeting between the US president and prime minister.

Trump to order English as official US language

Donald Trump will sign an executive order on Friday making English the official language of the United States, according to White House officials, and scrapping requirements that federal agencies provide language services to non-English speakers.

The US has never had an official language in the nearly 250 years since the country was founded.

The order is intended to improve government efficiency and promote national unity, according to White House officials.
