‘Terrible judgment’: Liberals slam obstacles to voting in leadership race

OTTAWA — Liberal supporters and former MPs say they party’s voter verification system is not working well and could prevent people from casting their ballots in the race to replace Justin Trudeau.

Bob Delaney, who was a Liberal MPP at Queen’s Park from 2003 to 2018, said he was blocked from getting verified to vote because he wasn’t registered with the party under his full legal name: Robert Patrick Delaney.

The party is using Canada Post’s Identity+ app to verify the identities of party members before they cast ballots in the leadership race. Liberals can use the app or visit a local post office to be verified.

In other words it’s working as planned for the Carney Coronation.

‘We need to keep children safe’: How US-style terror drills came to Britain’s schools

School pupils have long been drilled in what to do in the event of a fire. Lining up in the playground while heads are counted is a routine part of school life.

Now, another type of drill appears to be increasingly common in British classrooms: the US-style lockdown, where children are prepared for the grim possibility of a violent attack on site.

More than a quarter (26 per cent) of primary school teachers have carried out such a drill since September, and 36 per cent of secondary school teachers, according to a recent survey by Teacher Tapp. Some primaries are reportedly also spending thousands of pounds on security systems to alert staff to intruders

Carney says he resigned from ‘all’ his roles to run for Liberal leadership. Turns out he hasn’t

OTTAWA — Liberal leadership candidate Mark Carney has not yet resigned from his multiple international board positions, despite claiming this week that he had stepped down from all his roles to be “all in” on his bid to become Canada’s next prime minister.

National Post contacted nearly two dozen organizations that Carney had public links to until recently. While he resigned from most of them around the time he launched his leadership bid in January, he remains connected to at least five.

Donald Trump has some thoughts about Canada’s upcoming election

U.S. President Donald Trump often talks about Canada. Frequently disparagingly, and lately menacingly. But it’s not often he opines on the country’s internal politics.

He broke from that pattern in a just-published interview with a U.S. conservative writer who asked him about the country’s upcoming election.

In that interview with The Spectator, Trump is asked whether Canada’s Conservatives can still pull off a win in the next election, despite the tightening polls.

Tears and shock in Ukraine and Europe after heated Zelensky-Trump meeting

KYIV — A confrontational White House meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and President Donald Trump drew exasperated and fearful reactions from European and Ukrainian observers, as Kyiv’s hopes of aligning Trump’s view of the war with its own dwindled with each heated exchange.

“I’m just crying because of what I hear,” a Ukrainian lawmaker said of the meeting, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation.

Just the word “wow” is how Oleksandr, 40, a Ukrainian military officer fighting in Russia’s Kursk region, responded to the footage of the argument.

McMILLAN: Get radical… do unto Trudeau what Trudeau does unto us

‘Looks like Trudeau is using the old, ‘rules for radicals’ playbook against Canadians. Canadians can also do that against this Liberal government.’

Would you look at them running around? Half of Canadians think they are in danger from a president south of the border and half of them think they should separate. None of them, however, can even agree on what a Canadian is.

Does a Canadian “boo” the American anthem at a hockey game or does a Canadian drive a truck to Ottawa in protest of lockdowns? Is a Canadian friendly or a genocidal colonialist? Are Canadians innovators with the world’s richest reserves of natural resources or are they climate change saviours by leveraging taxation? How many genders is a Canadian?

‘The West is empowering radical Islam’

Islamic blasphemy laws have arrived in Europe. Two men in Britain have been arrested in the space of month for allegedly burning the Koran. Both were apparently acting in solidarity with Salwan Momika, an Iraqi refugee and outspoken atheist, who was murdered last month in Sweden while burning the Muslim holy book. Had the Islamist mob not got to him first, he would have stood trial for his supposed blasphemy. Either way, he would have been silenced.

Canada is a Liability

I’m no fan of Michael Moore’s politics or his propaganda films sold as “documentaries,” but there is one entry on his résumé that I thoroughly enjoy: Canadian Bacon, featuring the great John Candy in his final film. Moore wrote and directed this comedic gem about an American president starting a war with Canada in order to gain traction in the polls. Candy, one of Canada’s most beloved entertainers, plays a hilariously anti-Canadian American sheriff who is thrilled about taking up arms against our northern neighbors. The whole thing is top-notch farce earning a funny disclaimer in the final credits: “No Canadians were harmed during this production.” Strangely, it’s Moore’s only non-documentary effort in three decades.

Zelensky claims ‘not sure that we did something bad’ after Trump Oval Office blowup — but ‘of course’ can fix bond

WASHINGTON — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denied wrongdoing Friday night in his first public remarks since a major Oval Office argument with President Trump that upended talks to end his country’s war with Russia.

“I’m not sure that we did something bad,” Zelensky told Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier when asked if he owed Trump an apology — before saying moments later that “of course” the relationship between the men can be mended.”I respect the president and I respect the American people,” the 47-year-old leader said in the interview, without admitting fault for clashing with Trump and Vice President JD Vance earlier in the day.

Geoff Russ: When it comes to energy, Carney is the wrong man at the worst time

Even if only for a matter of weeks, Mark Carney is likely to become prime minister of Canada when this Liberal leadership race concludes. His vision for the country is rife with climate strategies and schemes belonging to a world most can remember, but that no longer exists.

The world has moved on. International accords such as the 2015 Paris Agreement, cooperation between financial institutions on climate goals, and more carbon pricing are no longer priorities for Canada in 2025. Canada is not a superpower, no serious person would say differently, and we have to swim in the global current of change.

Greedy Rachel Maddow paints herself into a corner after ranting about ‘racist’ Joy Reid firing

Rachel Maddow’s rant at her MSNBC bosses about firing Joy Reid and other non-white hosts has backfired… with her fellow liberals now calling on her to resign in solidarity.

The $25 million a year host took her bosses to task live on air this week saying it was ‘disturbing’ that ‘nonwhite hosts in primetime were losing their shows.’

But Bluesky users were quick to call on the greedy Maddow to put her money where her mouth is and resign, or risk looking like a hypocrite spouting hot air.

Can Europe deter Russia in Ukraine without US military?

Donald Trump appears to have more confidence in the capabilities of Britain’s armed forces than some of his own generals – or, for that matter, many of Britain’s retired military top brass.

When asked at his news conference with the UK prime minister about US security guarantees for Ukraine, Trump said: “The British have incredible soldiers, incredible military and they can take care of themselves.”

However, the US president did leave the question hanging in the air as to whether the UK military could take on Russia.

Liberal Health Minister Mark Holland has taken to social media to boast that Manitoba has become the first province to be signed onto the federal “pharmacare” plan which provides “free” contraceptives, including abortifacients, as well as “hormone replacement therapy” to those in the province.

“Today, we announced the first national pharmacare agreement with Manitoba,” wrote Health Minister Mark Holland on X Thursday.

Zelensky’s Tweet After Disastrous White House Visit Is What You Post When You’ve Been Totally Defeated

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had a disastrous visit at the White House today. President Trump slapped the man around. It was a brutal five-minute exchange which led to Zelensky being kicked out of the building. The lunch was canceled, with the joint presser scrapped.
