Wilson-Raybould reportedly advised RCMP to widen scope of SNC-Lavalin probe

The RCMP was urged in a confidential interview with former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould to widen their probe into the SNC-Lavalin scandal, according to Blacklock’s Reporter.

The details came from access-to-information files that were released Tuesday by the group Democracy Watch, which said Wilson-Raybould’s advice was ignored.

How one family became the ultimate symbol of Hamas barbarity

Crowds lined the roads in Israel this morning to pay a final tribute to Shiri Bibas and her boys, Ariel and Kfir, who were just four and nine months when captured – along with peace activist Oded Lifshitz, who was 83. A sea of Israeli and yellow flags lined pockets along the 73-mile route from the Kerem Shalom Crossing on the Gaza border to the military forensic lab in Tel Aviv, ushering the hostages along on their final journey. Crowds stood in silence, save the sombre rhythm of clapping as the convoy passed by. The journey by road, instead of helicopter, was an important opportunity for Israelis to mark this poignant moment and say their goodbyes to a mother and her children who have come to represent so much. While Yarden Bibas, who was released from Hamas captivity last week, will now be able to grieve for his wife and children, a nation will be grieving too.

Violent extremists are using antisemitism to recruit in Canada: CSIS report

…While the report says it is difficult to measure the precise level of antisemitism in Canada, it says the number of hate-motivated incidents directed at the Jewish and Arab/Muslim communities reported to police since Oct 7, 2023, have risen.

CBC had to reach back to 2017 for this pic of a demo which likely had nothing to do with antisemitism.

You mean it’s been white supremacists marching in our streets since Oct 7! Gosh!

From Murdered White Farmers to ‘Racially Disfavored Landowners’: Why Trump and Musk Are Targeting South Africa

In October 2016, heavily pregnant Mariandra Heunis was putting her youngest to bed in their remote South African farmhouse when she heard the chilling sound of a gun cocking. Turning around, she saw two intruders standing before her.

“They started shouting aggressively; my husband woke up. They demanded money, to which we, in turn, responded that we don’t have money and do not have money in the house, but they could take whatever they want if they just leave us unharmed,” Ms. Heunis, who, like the rest of her family, is white, told me when I interviewed her in 2018. “But he just started shooting. I was terrified. I couldn’t stop the bullets.”

Liberals getting money’s worth as media & pollsters release latest ginned up TDS poll

New poll says 27% of Canadians view the United States as an ‘enemy’ country

OTTAWA — A new poll suggests that more than a quarter of Canadians — 27 per cent — now see the United States as an “enemy” country, while another 30 per cent still say they consider the U.S. an ally.

Another 27 per cent of respondents to the Leger survey said they consider the United States to be a “neutral” country.

The poll comes as U.S. President Donald Trump threatens to impose economically devastating tariffs on Canada and has repeatedly pushed the idea that Canada should become a U.S. state.

Have some more gin.

Two Texas teenage girls arrested for ‘mass casualty attack’ plot

Two teenage girls in the US state of Texas have been arrested for plotting a “mass casualty attack” with pipe bombs and guns, police say.

The girls, ages 15 and 16, were planning an attack at Memorial High School in a suburb of Houston, police told KHOU, an affiliate of the BBC’s US partner CBS News.

The plot – which was shared on social media – was detailed enough that officials deemed it to be credible, CBS reported.

John Robson: Crass anti-Americanism will get us nowhere

Washington, we have a problem. The United States appears to be retreating into isolationism in ways not seen in a century and a half, with potentially appalling consequences. And we couldn’t be handling it worse if we were Kremlin plants.

If you value the Pax Americana, and you should, we must find some way of persuading our neighbours and long-time protectors not to lay their burden down. Childish abuse won’t get it done. Calling Donald Trump a pro-Russian tyrant will certainly not persuade him or his MAGA supporters to reengage with the world on our terms.

Nasa upgrades risk of ‘city-killer’ asteroid hitting Earth in 2032

Nasa has upgraded the risk of a potential “city-killer” asteroid colliding with the Earth to 3.1 per cent — the highest level calculated for a collision.

Scientists have warned that a direct hit, which could occur on December 22, 2032, has the potential to release nearly 8 megatons of energy — enough to devastate a city, with the blast radius of about 30 miles.

The object, called 2024 YR4, is estimated to be about 40 to 90 metres wide and is hurtling through space at about 38,000mph. The impact would occur somewhere along a path that extends across the eastern Pacific Ocean, northern South America, the Atlantic Ocean, Africa, the Arabian Sea and southern Asia.

Just nudge it to Toronto.

Poilievre’s ‘Canada First’ rally cry is a defining moment for Canadian conservatism

OTTAWA—Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre proved one thing over the weekend: he won’t be defined by anyone’s narrative but his own.

For weeks, a debate has been swirling in Ottawa. Fuelled by media, pundits, and unnamed sources, questions have been asked about the need for a so-called “pivot” away from core issues, like axing the carbon tax, and toward a narrative that more directly confronts the existential threat American President Donald Trump poses to the Canada-United States relationship.

Kristie Higgs: ‘I’m not a bigot – I’m just an ordinary person fighting to tell the truth’

In a triumph for free speech, judges have ruled in favour of a Christian woman dismissed from her job at a school over her religious beliefs

What does a free speech campaigner look like in 2025? Militant, obviously. A bit shouty and emphatic, definitely. Willing to take on all-comers, shielded by an air of supreme self-belief? Incontrovertibly.

How about a shy, slender mother of two with an infectious smile, whose brown eyes film over with tears as she recounts the seven years of hell she has just endured? And who has just celebrated a milestone judgment in the Court of Appeal – but wants nothing more than to disappear from the spotlight?

An Islamic State-linked graphic is circulating on social media, calling on Jihadists in major European cities to drive into large crowds, as if to emulate the recent actions of an Afghan asylum seeker in Germany. The campaign asks:

What are you waiting for? The streets are full of targets. Run them over!!
