France’s churches are burning – and no one seems to care

Church Arson France – Parish of St. Paul in Corbeil-Essonnes

France’s churches are under attack, yet the media and political establishment are pretending not to notice. Last year, we saw blazes at historic churches in Rouen, Saint-Omer and Poitiers – each one another grim statistic in an escalating crisis. For years, we’ve seen Christian places of worship targeted in acts of arson and vandalism. Yet, until now, official confirmation of the scale of the problem has been curiously absent. That has changed. The French territorial intelligence service has reported a 30 per cent increase in criminal church fires in 2024. That’s not a handful of isolated incidents – it’s a surge. And a deeply troubling one at that.

Gen. Mark Milley: A Case for Treason?

Treason is the one exception to a presidential pardon.

Legend divulged that the cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean at Okinawa, Japan’s Camp Courtney, the headquarters of the commanding general of the Third Marine Division, was where Japanese soldiers committed harakiri rather than be taken prisoner during World War II.

You could say the view was to die for.

It was also my introduction to the palatial digs of Major Gen. Steven Olmstead, as the food delivery detail I was assigned to made it obvious this wasn’t your typical stopover on mess duty.

How is Canada tackling the cross-border smuggling crisis? An analyst weighs in on concerns

The shared U.S.-Canadian border has been a growing battleground in the midst of U.S. President Donald Trump’s border demands and tariff talks.

Recent data from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) have revealed a trend – based on weight, Canadian border agents have seized significantly more illicit drugs coming from the U.S. than those heading south.

In 2024, border agents intercepted almost 8.3 million grams of illegal drugs coming from the U.S. – a 118 per cent increase from 2022, according to the CBSA.

Myths about Dresden 1945 victim numbers debunked

Eighty years ago, Allied bombers destroyed huge parts of Dresden, killing thousands. Those exploiting the attacks for political ends often give casualty figures vastly higher than is historically certified. A fact check.

In the late evening of February 13, 1945, British and US bomber squadrons began devastating air raids on Dresden. By midday on February 15, large-scale fires had spread, killing thousands of people and almost completely reducing the historic city center to rubble.

After the air raids the survivors piled up the dead bodies, burning them to prevent the spread of disease. The pictures taken by photographer Walter Hahn are etched in the memories of many Germans.

Brookfield’s NYC Move Becomes Political Attack Line on Carney

Brookfield Asset Management Ltd.’s decision to shift its head office to New York from Toronto is featured in a new attack ad against Mark Carney, who’s running to become Canadian prime minister.

Carney is one of the leading candidates to replace Justin Trudeau as Liberal Party leader and assume Canada’s highest political office. He had been Brookfield’s chair and head of transition investing until January, when he resigned to launch his campaign.

In a video released Friday, the Conservative Party took aim at Carney’s views on the economy and at Brookfield’s relocation. “Trudeau and Carney sold out Canada with job-killing taxes that push jobs south,” the narrator of the video says. “Carney even moved his company’s headquarters to New York.”

In D.C. Visit, Canadian Leaders Face Trump’s Tariff Hawks .

Canada’s premiers visited Washington this week to make the case for open trade, but influential figures in the president’s circle see tariffs as the path to prosperity.

Another week, and another round of tariff threats and annexation suggestions from President Trump.

It began with the announcement of a policy imposing 25 percent tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports. In Canada’s case, those tariffs would be stacked on top of the previously introduced 25 percent tariffs on most Canadian exports, which are in a 30-day holding period. If Mr. Trump follows through on both, the rate on steel and aluminum will be a staggering 50 percent.

Joy Behar Claims Trump Is Threatening to Kill the Families of GOP Lawmakers

The confirmations of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to HHS and Tulsi Gabbard to DNI sent ABC News’s Joy Behar over the edge during Friday’s edition of The View. She became so unhinged that she cooked up an unfounded conspiracy theory that the reason so many GOP lawmakers had voted to confirm President Trump’s nominees was because he was threatening to kill their them and their families. And she was serious about it.

Canada’s ‘Freedom Convoy’ supporters have plenty to cheer about these days

Three years ago this week, Canada’s capital was in the midst of an occupation by the so-called “Freedom Convoy,” prompting Justin Trudeau to declare a state of emergency on Valentine’s Day, 2022.

February has never been one of Trudeau’s greatest months — the prime minister may even be secretly grateful this is his last one in power.

But three years later, a hard reality may be sinking in for Trudeau and all those who were alarmed by the convoy. The convoy is long gone, but the forces that fed it are on the ascent.

Is Mark Carney the frontrunner for the Liberal leadership? Conservatives are acting like he is

OTTAWA — The federal Conservatives are amping up criticism of Mark Carney, the Liberal leadership contender they appear to assume will replace Justin Trudeau as their chief opponent in the next federal election.

The criticism comes as the party stages a “Canada First” rally in Ottawa on Saturday, aimed at pitching Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre as the best answer to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff threats.

Ukraine end game: What each side wants from a peace deal

Ukraine’s future is the focus of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), just days after a shock phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in which they agreed to begin negotiations to end the Ukraine war.

Describing the call earlier this week as “great”, Trump said there was a “good possibility of ending that horrible, very bloody war”.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that his country must not be left out of any peace talks.
