Trump Wants the U.S. to Control Gaza. So, Who Owns It Anyway?

President Trump wants the U.S. to control the Gaza Strip, but it isn’t even clear who owns it.

Determining the ownership and control of Gaza might be among the most complicated territorial questions on Earth.

The Palestinian enclave has an almost unique status, as well as a long history of changing hands, making figuring out who ultimately owns the tiny territory a matter of unpacking overlapping land laws laid down over centuries.

Trump’s FBI Reforms Need To Include Ending Its Data Distortions On Crime

There is a lot of attention on the Trump administration removing dozens of Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI officials involved in charging 1,500 Jan. 6 defendants, but one area of politicization in the FBI and DOJ that isn’t getting attention: crime data.

The ability to manipulate and distort crime data allows those distorting the data to control the political debate.

Civil War Comes to the West

From the article – Civil War Comes to the West

… What might be described as ‘intertribal conflict’ is by no means confined to the virtual spaces of the Internet; rather, it manifests also in physical fighting in a self-reinforcing feedback cycle. Many examples of this from recent headlines might be given. A good one though, is the city of Leicester in Britain, which over the last year has witnessed recurring violence between the local Hindu and Muslim populations, both sides animated by intercommunal tensions in distant south Asia. A Hindu mob marched through the Muslim part of town chanting ‘Death to Pakistan’.[xii]

What this reflects above all is the considerable irrelevance of Britishness as an aspect of the pre-political loyalty of significant fraction of two of the largest minorities in Britain. Who wants to fight whom and over what? The answer in this case to this good strategic question has very little to do with the nominal nationality of the people who have observably already begun to fight.

The Munich attack reveals a terrorised Germany

No nation should be expected to put up with this. The Munich attack yesterday, in which a Mini Cooper ploughed into a trade-union march, injuring nearly 40 people, was the fifth time in nine months that Germans flicked open social media or turned on the TV to learn that some disturbed or terroristic scumbag had slashed or rammed his way through their fellow citizens.

Our elites are leading us down the identical path of Germany, the UK, France etc. We need a Trump.

Stupid Shit Andrew Coyne Says …

The democratic world will have to get along without America. It may even have to defend itself from it

I wonder if we have underestimated the gravity of the situation the democratic world faces.

Even now, as the United States hurtles toward autocracy – the petty grotesqueries perhaps tell the story better than anything else: a reporter barred from the White House for not using the name “Gulf of America,” President Donald Trump naming himself chair of the Kennedy Center by a “unanimous” vote of its board – the tendency is still to describe events in relatively conventional terms. For example, the “mistakes” that Mr. Trump is said to have made in his dealings with Vladimir Putin, of the United States as an “unreliable ally” under Mr. Trump, and so forth.

Any questions?

Zimbabwean paedophile allowed to stay in UK because he would face ‘hostility’ back home

A convicted Zimbabwean paedophile was allowed to stay in Britain because he would face “hostility” if he was deported back to his home country.

An immigration tribunal judge blocked his deportation to Zimbabwe by the Home Office because it would breach his rights under Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) which prohibits torture, inhuman treatment and degrading punishment.

Muslim terrorist who plotted attack on VIA Rail convinces judge to delay deportation decision due to mental health concerns

Chiheb Esseghaier Muslim Terrorist

A Tunisian man serving a life sentence in Canada for plotting to kill passengers by derailing a VIA Rail train has convinced a Federal Court judge to delay immigration authorities from deciding if he’s allowed to stay here because it could harm his mental health.

The proceeding at issue was an admissibility hearing for Chiheb Esseghaier before the Immigration and Refugee Board. Because of his 2015 convictions, the likely result would have been an automatic deportation order.

‘RACIST, PORNOGRAPHIC NIGHTMARE’: Pickering councillor slams city for wild public forum

A Pickering politician ripped into city officials after a meeting that was open to all residents was exposed to racial slurs, swastikas and pornography.

“Last night’s City of Pickering virtual Open House was horrifying!” Councillor Lisa Robinson shared on her social media pages.

“What was meant to be a public forum spiralled into a display of hate speech, swastikas, and explicit pornography – with no intervention from staff. This negligence allowed a traumatic event to unfold. I will never be able to erase what I saw.”

Trump takes fresh shot at ‘Governor Trudeau,’ says Canada ‘serious contender’ to be 51st state

U.S. President Donald Trump says Canada is a “serious contender” to become America’s 51st state as he launched into a fresh round of digs aimed at outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

… Trump then floated the possibility that the U.S. could withhold military protection for Canada.

“They don’t have any military protection,” the president told reporters. “You take a look at what’s going on out there. You have Russian ships, you have China ships, you have Chinese ships. You have lot of ships out there. People are in danger. This is a different world today. It’s a different world, but they need our protection.”

JD Vance is right: the anti-democratic West is no longer worth defending

Yesterday a car was deliberately driven into a crowd of bystanders, injuring 30. Attacks of this nature – violent, random, nihilistic – have become commonplace, even mundane, in Europe; the identity of the alleged perpetrator (reported as a Afghan failed asylum seeker) grimly predictable even as the motive remains obscure.

That this particular attack received so much coverage reflected less the scale of the violence and more the location and timing: in the centre of Munich, a day before the Security Conference.

Perhaps it may have given some pause to the delegates of the liberal Western order, travelling to the city to discuss Europe’s external security threats, to be reminded in such a brutal fashion that the greatest danger to our civilisation operates within our borders. Or perhaps not: much easier to offer thoughts and prayers, and turn our eyes to the undoubtedly urgent questions of the future of Ukraine and Nato.

Conservatives launch partisan attacks on Liberal leadership front-runner Mark Carney

Conservatives MPs are targeting Liberal leadership front-runner Mark Carney, accusing the former central banker of being an elitist who is out of touch with the concerns of working Canadians.

Heading into a caucus meeting Friday, the MPs took aim at Mr. Carney, seeking to link him to unpopular Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“He lives in a completely different world. He doesn’t buy groceries in tough neighbourhoods or take public transit,” Conservative House Leader Andrew Scheer told reporters.

Patriotism, a big rally and, of course, new slogans: Inside Pierre Poilievre’s Trump-induced strategy shift

OTTAWA — “Canada First” is Pierre Poilievre’s new pitch to Canadians. But it also represents the firsts the Conservative leader himself has been navigating in the past few weeks.

It’s the first time as leader that he has faced off against the Liberals without Prime Minister Justin Trudeau planning to run in the next election.
