Canadians are increasingly backing the Energy East and Northern Gateway pipeline initiatives as well as the expansion of domestic energy infrastructure in response to a looming threat of a trade war with the United States, a new survey suggests.
Two-thirds of Canadians are now in favour of the Energy East pipeline, a poll released Feb. 10 by the Angus Reid Institute found. Sixty-five percent of respondents currently support the oil pipeline project compared to 58 percent in 2019. Nineteen percent of respondents oppose the initiative and 16 percent are unsure.

The Department of Homeland Security is going to take action against staffers at the Federal Emergency Management Administration accused of spending $59 million last week to house illegal immigrants in violation of the law.
“As Secretary Noem said yesterday, we must get rid of FEMA the way it exists today. This is yet another egregious example. Individuals who circumvented leadership and unilaterally made this payment will be fired and held accountable,” a DHS official told National Review Monday.
What sort of monsters would lavish tax dollars on illegal aliens and leave their fellow citizens who have lost everything to fend for themselves in the aftermath of natural disasters?

OTTAWA—Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said Monday that he would massively cut foreign aid to pay for a new military base in the Arctic, two new heavy icebreakers and double the number of Canadian Rangers who patrol the north where China and Russia are seen as a growing strategic threat.
The promises were part of a new plan to bolster Canada’s military presence in the Arctic, which Poilievre pledged to pay for through deep — but unspecified — cuts to the current Liberal government’s foreign assistance budget.
“We’ve got enough problems at home. We’ve got our own backyard to protect. We can’t be sending billions of dollars to other places, often … much of it is wasted, and stolen and swallowed up by bureaucracies that act against our interests,” Poilievre told reporters in Iqaluit.

President Trump announced sweeping tariffs on foreign steel and aluminum on Monday, re-upping a policy from his first term that pleased domestic metal makers, but hurt other American industries and ignited trade wars with allies on multiple fronts.
The president signed two official proclamations Monday evening that would impose a 25 percent tariff on steel and aluminum from all countries globally. A White House official said in a call with reporters that there would be no exclusions offered, and that the president was directing customs officials to dramatically increase their oversight over such imports.
The measures will be welcomed by domestic steelmakers, who argue they are struggling to compete against cheap foreign metals. As they did during Mr. Trump’s first term, U.S. metal makers have been lobbying the administration for protection, and Trump officials agree that a strong domestic metal sector is essential for U.S. national security.
Justice Minister Arif Virani and International Trade Minister Mary Ng will not be running in the next federal election, they announced in separate statements on Monday.
They are the fifth and sixth ministers in Justin Trudeau’s cabinet to announce they’re not running for re-election since the prime minister shuffled his cabinet in December. That number is seven if you include Trudeau himself.
There are a lot of scammy polls out there hailing a Liberal rebound under the globalist Carney. He may enjoy some local success in traditionally stupid areas of the country like Toronto but it won’t be enough, especially after he is made the focus of hate for the LPC. That Liberals continue to flee like rats may indicate internal polling is also predicting disaster.

A ‘Palestinian state’ is no longer feasible and Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and Iran want nothing to do with displaced Gazans.
President Trump likes to keep everyone — enemies and friends alike — off balance. He is, as is often said, The Great Disruptor.
Trump’s announcement Tuesday evening that we should take over the Gaza Strip and rebuild it into another Riviera — complete with a Trump Hotel and Casino, I’m sure — not only kept everybody off balance but it made several nations admit things they really didn’t want to.
The big problem with Trump’s plan is that about 2.2 million Gaza residents would have to emigrate — albeit temporarily as Trump indicated Wednesday — to other countries. But nobody wants the residents of Gaza, especially Israel’s Arab neighbors.

Donald Trump has said that his plan to “take over Gaza” would not include a right of return for the more than 2 million Palestinians that he has said have “no alternative” but to leave because of the destruction left by Israel’s military campaign.
The remarks are the latest effective endorsement of ethnic cleansing by the US president, who announced his plan last week during a summit with the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to the outrage of the Arab world and the surprise of even his closest aides.
In the interview with Fox’s Bret Baier, Trump said that he would “own” the Gaza Strip and declared it would be a “real estate development for the future”.

In the weeks after Russia invaded Ukraine, the head of St. Petersburg’s prisons delivered a direct message to an elite unit of guards tasked with overseeing the influx of prisoners from the war: “Be cruel, don’t pity them.”
Maj. Gen. Igor Potapenko had gathered his service’s special forces at the regional headquarters to tell them about a new system that had been designed for captured Ukrainians.
Normal rules wouldn’t apply, he told them. There would be no restrictions against violence. The body cameras that were mandatory elsewhere in Russia’s prison system would be gone.
The guards would rotate through Russia’s prison system, serving a month at a time in prisons before other teams took their place. Across the country, other units—from Buryatia, Moscow, Pskov and elsewhere—received similar instructions.

Rhodesia was known as being “more British than Britain” and was a thriving state amidst a continent of failed nations; it had a highly developed economy, and citizens enjoyed a very high standard of living. But, that all changed when the black majority wrested political control from the white minority, seized white-owned property (specifically the farms), and Rhodesia became Zimbabwe—it’s been a third world hell-hole with “severe food insecurity” and high levels of violence ever since.
The Cold War-era agency has long been at the vanguard of American imperialism.
The very future of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) is now in doubt.
At the request of US president Donald Trump, Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have been through USAID’s books. There they claim to have found an organisation funding myriad dubious campaigns and groups around the world. Among many other activities, it’s been backing drag shows in Ecuador and transgender operas in Colombia. It’s dished out $84million to Chelsea Clinton through the Clinton Foundation. It also gave $54million to the controversial NGO, the EcoHealth Alliance, which collaborated with the notorious Wuhan Institute of Virology in ‘gain of function’ experiments that are alleged to have made Covid-19 more transmissible.

OTTAWA — The deal that was supposed to delay a Canada-U.S. trade war appeared to be cracking on Monday, as officials watched to see whether President Donald Trump would be making good on his threat of imposing 25 per cent tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.
While aboard Air Force One on his way to Sunday’s Super Bowl, Trump announced he would be unveiling the trade levies Monday and they would include steel and aluminum imports coming from Canada and Mexico.

The radical accused of stabbing author Salman Rushdie blurted “Free Palestine” as he walked into the courtroom on Monday.
Hati Matar, the 26-year-old New Jersey man who tried to kill the writer in upstate New York in 2022, made the statement as he walked by reporters at the Chautauqua County Courthouse in Mayville, New York — but otherwise remained quiet.

” TDS is just a giant excuse not to look in the mirror. This is the only way for Canadians to keep their sanctimonious moral superiority intact.”
Suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) may not be a requirement to appear among the pseudo-patriots on the Laurentian media, but it surely helps. Led by the premier of Ontario, our new Captain Canada, the amount of defamatory rubbish hurled in the direction of Donald J. Trump and his administration was exceeded only by the venomous criticism of anyone, especially if Canadian, who tried to understand (and not necessarily to defend) the Americans’ perspective on Canada.
