Most of the Arabs who are now condemning Israel for its military strikes against the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist group in the Gaza Strip have never uttered a word against Hamas’s rocket attacks on Israel. These Arabs, who are now weeping over the plight of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, chose to turn a blind eye to Hamas’s repressive measures against the residents of the Gaza Strip. They also chose to look the other way as Hamas accumulated an arsenal of weapons and built dozens of offensive tunnels along the border with Israel. Incredibly, most of these Arabs still have not denounced Hamas for initiating the war on October 7, when hundreds of its heavily armed members crossed into Israel and massacred more than 1,400 Israelis, wounded thousands more, and abducted more than 200 hostages who were taken to Gaza.

While it’s hard to imagine in today’s context — the fifth and bloodiest Gaza war between Israel and Hamas in the past four decades — Israel actually encouraged the creation of Hamas, leading up to its founding in 1987.

Canadians were horrified as the carnage and bloodshed were unfolding in Israel during the unprecedented terrorist attack by Hamas was unfolding. The horror turned to outrage for many when the social media account for the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) local 3906 cheered on the attack, saying “Palestine is rising, long live the resistance!”

CUPE 3906 represents staff and faculty members at McMaster University. The university quickly released a statement distancing itself from its own union.

It was supposed to be a landmark visit, featuring a politically seasoned US president arriving in an active war zone to hold talks with representatives on both sides of a longstanding conflict that had reached a crisis point.

US President Joe Biden’s Mideast visit was meant to mark America’s return to a geopolitical zone after a “pivot” in recent years, but where Washington still has the clout to bring aggrieved regional players together.

I cannot believe it. How can we wake up every morning since Oct. 7 knowing that young kids are being imprisoned in dungeons simply because they are Jewish and not speak out? How can we accept a world in which young women are sexually enslaved, while others are being tortured, because they were visiting Israel? At least 174 people were arrested and 65 police officers were injured at unauthorized pro-Palestinian demonstrations in Berlin on Wednesday night, according to a police spokesperson.

Authorities had banned such protests, which have been called in response to the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the militant group which killed around 1,400 Israelis in a terrorist attack two weeks ago.

Clashes broke out in the district of Neukölln between police and protesters who did not comply with orders to disperse.

Federal government isn’t saying who it thinks was behind Gaza hospital blast

The federal Liberal government dodged questions Wednesday about who Ottawa believes is responsible for the Gaza hospital blast that may have killed or maimed hundreds of people in the Palestinian territory.

Hamas has blamed an Israeli airstrike for the blast at the Ahli Arab Hospital, an Anglican Church-run facility in Gaza City.

The Israeli military has said a misfired rocket launched by other Palestinian militants was behind the explosion.
