The State Of The Canadian Gun Ban/Buyback

What’s going on in the Canadian gun world these days? Same as always—more legal wrangling back-and-forth between shooters and the government. But there have been some relatively major recent developments with the federal government’s so-called buyback. The feds are steaming full speed ahead, or trying to, while an increasingly large number of partners are telling the government, “We’re not helping.”

How Ukraine’s war effort against Russia has evolved

Soldiers spend weeks or even months in a cramped shelter in a so-called “kill zone,” a stretch as long as 20 kilometers (12 miles) that is largely controlled by enemy drones. There is no way to reach a position by vehicle or evacuate the wounded. Ammunition and food supplies are constantly interrupted.

All of this has become everyday life along the front line during four years of Russia’s full‑scale war against Ukraine. Ukrainian military personnel tell DW how the war has changed.

When soldiers think back to the start of the invasion, they remember the many volunteers and long lines at recruitment offices. That seems unimaginable today.

Pentagon reveals plan to disclose all UFO files as Pete Hegseth insists he doesn’t know if aliens exist

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth has finally addressed the president’s announcement to release all government files related to UFOs and aliens.

Speaking at an event for the Department of War’s ‘Arsenal of Freedom’ tour on Monday, Hegseth, 45, said he intends to find out if aliens really exist, and the American people will learn the truth at the same time.

Although he admitted he never envisioned being the person put in charge of potentially revealing alien life to the world, Hegseth declared that the Department of War would fully comply with the president’s orders.

Tasha Kheiriddin: Pierre Poilievre’s deportation gamble

This week, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre released a video about the preferential treatment of asylum seekers in Canada. In it, he states that six million Canadians can’t get access to a family doctor and specialist wait times average 30 weeks. Then, he drops the kicker: rejected asylum claimants, who have never paid taxes, get free “deluxe supplementary heath care” such as physiotherapy, dental and eyecare that Canadian citizens have to pay for out of pocket.

Man accidentally gains control of 7,000 robot vacuums

A software engineer’s earnest effort to steer his new DJI robot vacuum with a video game controller inadvertently granted him a sneak peak into thousands of people’s homes.

While building his own remote-control app, Sammy Azdoufal reportedly used an AI coding assistant to help reverse-engineer how the robot communicated with DJI’s remote cloud servers. But he soon discovered that the same credentials that allowed him to see and control his own device also provided access to live camera feeds, microphone audio, maps, and status data from nearly 7,000 other vacuums across 24 countries. The backend security bug effectively exposed an army of internet-connected robots that, in the wrong hands, could have turned into surveillance tools, all without their owners ever knowing.

Oops! Spoke too soon! Attack is back. (Attack By Forces Of Evil On BCF Foiled Again!)

Sad to report the attack is back.

Some of you were experiencing this screen (Below).

It has been determined that a significant DDOS attack coupled with a new to me type of chicanery (Cache poisoning) is the cause of the “Too many redirects” error messages.

Hopefully matters have been resolved and a shout out to our Tech support for isolating and defanging the attack.

What have I your mild mannered blogger done to attract such determined enemies of freedom?

No fear! We shall endeavor to persevere against all odds!

Let me know in the comments if you have run into issues.

Thank you for your patience.

A further 154 people had their lives ended the day after their request was made.
