Foppish, homoerotic – then homeless: the real story of Hitler’s youth

In Vienna, the teenage dilettante failed at everything from painting to architecture – and seems to have been drawn to his roommate

On January 3 1903, in the Austrian town of Leonding, 65-year-old Alois Hitler was drinking red wine in a tavern when he suffered a lung haemorrhage, collapsed and died. He was buried in a local cemetery. Soon after, his widow Klara sold the large family house and bought an apartment in the city of Linz, around 30 miles away, to which she moved with their teenage son, Adolf.

Net Zero is condemning more Brits to energy poverty

Here’s another great idea from the net zero establishment: only heat your home when it is warm and sunny outdoors. In its Sixth Carbon Budget paper, the government’s Climate Change Committee advises homeowners to turn their heating on in the afternoon, so that they can turn it off again during the evening when demand for electricity is higher. ‘Where homes are sufficiently well-insulated,’ it says, ‘it is possible to pre-heat ahead of peak times, enabling access to cheaper tariffs which reflect the reduced costs associated with running networks and producing power during off-peak times.’ In other words, boil yourself when the outdoor temperature is relatively warm, and with any luck you might still be tolerably warm when it is freezing outdoors at eight in the evening.

The green war on animals

Cattle, sheep and even pets are now in the sights of deranged eco-warriors.

One of the more disappointing developments in British politics over the past two decades – apart from the strange desire of most parties to pander to the tiny transvestite vote, never seen as vital in the past – has been the decline of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party, after the death of its founder, Screaming Lord Sutch, in 1999. Still, with the Greens behaving in an increasingly unhinged manner, maybe they might merge? Green is such a lovely colour – not a bit descriptive of a party which seems, like the nature it worships, increasingly red in tooth and claw. The late lord’s party’s handle seems far more appropriate.

Indian Tribal Cops in Nevada Have No Patience for Climate Protesters

Sometimes a video is worth a thousand words.

Eco-fascists decided to transplant their militant activist tactics from Europe to the United States. That includes vandalizing art and blocking streets. But while America is not in great shape, it’s not Europe.

Britain has learnt nothing from the Leicester riots

Ethnic tensions could become more widespread across the country

With today marking the one-year anniversary of the beginning of the ethnically and religiously-motivated Leicester disorder, it is worth asking what we have learnt from this watershed moment in British community relations.

It was on 28 August 2022 that there was a mass brawl in the Belgrave area of Leicester following an Asia Cup cricket match between India and Pakistan. The civil unrest came to a head with large-scale rioting on 17 September last year — primarily between Muslim and Hindu youths of South Asian origin in eastern parts of the city.

Black students told at segregated assembly their grades were a ‘problem’

Some parents claim children were warned that those who underperformed had a higher chance of going to jail, being shot or killed

Black students at a Florida primary school were pulled out of class and told their test results were a “problem” during a segregated assembly.

The children, aged between 9 and 11, were singled out for a presentation on how black students had underperformed on standardised tests over the past three years.

Students at Bunnell Elementary School were selected to attend based on their race, and students who had passing grades were also made to attend.

John Robson: On Claims of Residential School Mass Graves, We Need Solid Evidence, Not Narratives

Lying Hypocrite

Remember the big fad a few years back for “evidence-based decision-making”? It always made me wonder what other basis might exist. And mutter, “Many talk of Robin Hood who never pulled his bow” because people fond of intoning it often seemed to use it as a substitute for rigorously checking their opinions against facts not a pointed reminder to do so. For instance in the vexed issue in Canada of all those unmarked graves of aboriginal kids who died, or maybe even were killed, in residential schools.

“Babylon fell, Rome fell. Hindhead’s turn will come”

And Islam will take over. We are experiencing the biggest demographic change since the Anglo-Saxon invasions of the 5th century.

Imagine if a conservative white mayor of London had posted on his website, ‘They don’t represent Londoners’, with a photo of a brown-skinned, Muslim family. He would have resigned in two hours. But this has been done, in reverse, by Mayor Sadiq Khan.

Netflix’s Bridgerton star Adjoa Andoh called the appearance of the British royal family from Buckingham Palace after the coronation of Charles III “terribly white”. Khan and Andoh are so true that now one of the major British demographers explains that whites are condemned to become a minority in their own country which they have inhabited for two thousand years and that this reversal will take place within a single generation.

Trudeau says you should live in crappy boxes stacked high

Trudeau says ‘densification’ is key to fix housing crisis. Is it enough?

When Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his cabinet went into a huddle at this year’s cabinet retreat in Charlottetown, it was clear that housing was top of mind. When Trudeau emerged from the retreat last week, he told reporters some of the measures Canada most needs.

Among those was the need for densification, a growing topic dominating conversations at the municipal, provincial and federal levels.

Is the game up for Justin Trudeau?

In the dog days of summer, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government are skating on thin ice once more.

An August 18-23 national survey by Abacus Data of 2,189 adults revealed that 56 per cent of respondents believed he ‘should step down’ rather than run again for re-election. Only 27 per cent felt he should stay, and 17 per cent were unsure.

This number is in line with recent polling data in Canada. Pierre Poilievre and the opposition Conservatives have led in almost every opinion poll conducted since he became party leader on September 10, 2022. Moreover, the federal government has largely slipped into the 26-29 per cent range in national popularity – and, in several cases, is behind by either close to or above double digits. In the most recent example, the Conservatives lead the Liberals by 38-26 per cent in an August 23 poll by Abacus Data.

Beware of Falling BRICS

With the BRICS Summit coming to a close, it is unclear what has been accomplished.

As Russia continues to press forward with its doomed war in Ukraine and China watches its economic miracle erode, the leaders of both countries are in desperate need of allies. This is what made the BRICS summit, a meeting of the off-and-on alliance between Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, an appealing venue for the increasingly isolated regimes to exert influence and find friends on the global stage.

How robotaxis are dividing San Francisco

My heartbeat quickens just a little as the cab approaches. It’s a bizarre sight, one that I thought I wouldn’t see in my lifetime.

The cab has no driver. It stops in front of me and invites me to unlock its door with my phone – before whisking me into the night.

But as I am about to get in, a passer-by approaches.

“They’re unsafe,” he tells me. He says he saw someone nearly get run over by a robotaxi – and warns me to be careful.

No Masks, Please, We’re Rational

Maskaholics are incorrigible. The rest of us should pay them no heed.

Unfazed by data, scientific research, or common sense, the maskaholics are back. In response to an uptick in Covid cases, they’ve begun reinstating mask mandates. So far, it’s just a few places—a college in Atlanta, a Hollywood studio, two hospitals in Syracuse—but the mainstream media and their favorite “experts” are working hard to scare the rest of us into masking up yet again.
