Hosting six World Cup soccer games in Toronto is already $350 million over budget.
Given those kinds of overruns, city hall should look for savings. Instead, municipal bureaucrats blew big money on soccer-themed sex supplies.

Rhetoric versus reality, plainly illustrated.
If you read or watch the news, you see constant marches and riots over the enforcement of immigration laws. Activists chase ICE and Border Patrol personnel in the streets, screaming insults and blowing whistles to alert others to the presence of Trump’s mean immigration cops. High school students storm out of their classes (behind their activist teachers, following authority as they protest against government) to “march against hate,” attacking people who disagree with them.

A Lebanese immigrant ordered deported in December 2019 after he was convicted for possession of fentanyl and hydromorphone for the purposes of trafficking has won another chance to stay in Canada.
Mohamad Kassar, who arrived in Canada as a permanent resident about 35 years ago, was scheduled to be removed to Lebanon on Feb. 13. Instead, Federal Court Justice Angus Grant stayed his removal because Kassar has a preliminary diagnosis suggesting he might have a lung tumour.

The difference between history’s winners and losers obviously depends on the criteria we adopt to discriminate between success and failure at the level of nation, culture, and civilization. For the purposes of this article, I will leave the display of military splendor and the creation of great art out of the equation. Neither military parades in a public square nor architectural wonders constitute a boon for ordinary people, even if they produce a feeling of national pride. Rather, I define success as a function of three complementary factors: the ability to survive intact for extended periods; the achievement of approximate prosperity in a largely impoverished world; and the fostering of a relatively free, confident, and vigorous citizenry. (Jeremy Bentham’s utilitarian calculus developed in his A Fragment on Government, based on “the greatest happiness of the greatest number,” plainly does not consort with these observations, since happiness is both an ambiguous concept and a non-measurable “quantity.”)

CALGARY — A former Ontario man who opened his barbecue restaurant back in 2020 despite lockdown rules and was arrested and fined because of it — is finally getting his day in court.
Adam Skelly, whose barbecue joint, Adamson Barbecue, in the Etobicoke area of the GTA, is now permanently closed due to the financial strains Skelly experienced thanks to multiple charges brought against him.

Councilwoman Tania Fernandes Anderson made history by becoming the first illegal alien Muslim councilwoman in Boston history. Then she made history again by marrying a convicted murderer serving life in prison with no parole. Then she made history yet again by becoming the first illegal alien Muslim councilwoman married to a lifer serving on the Boston city council while under indictment when she was charged in an illegal kickback scheme involving fraud and theft.

Lionel Shriver on the West’s porous borders, the corrosion of citizenship and how the debate turned ‘radioactive’.

The Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc investigation at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School has ruled out some areas on the grounds as areas where potential unmarked graves may be, while data from multiple surveys has identified other areas that “should now be the primary focus” of the search.
It’s been almost five years since the First Nation shared that preliminary findings from a ground-penetrating radar survey found some 200 potential unmarked graves on the grounds of the former residential school.
Nothing but theft.

A police worker who claimed her colleagues were members of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) has lost her race discrimination case.
Neelam Puri, 59, who is from an Indian-Asian background, sued the Scottish Police Authority at an employment tribunal after making the ‘ludicrous’ suggestion that members of the police force were part of the white supremacist group.
Mrs Puri raised concerns after she heard co-workers having a discussion about how ‘the KKK had Scottish roots’, which made her feel ‘unsafe’.

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre overwhelmingly won his leadership review in January with 87.4 per cent support of the vote. He will be the party leader for the foreseeable future and into the next federal election.
While most Conservatives are hopeful that Poilievre will become prime minister, there are contenders waiting in the wings if he’s unsuccessful. Ontario Premier Doug Ford may be one of them.

Across Europe, the public celebration of Ramadan has become a focal point for cultural and political tension. From Belgium to Germany, the increasing visibility of Islamic rituals in public spaces, supported by municipal authorities, has led to a series of confrontations.
In Zele, Belgium, the Eyyüp El-Ensari Mosque initiated the hanging of festive Ramadan lights in Zwaanstraat with the approval of the municipality. According to the mosque board, the lighting provides extra connection during Ramadan. The mosque plans to expand the project even further next year.

Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux is joining the Liberal caucus, according to a social media post by Prime Minister Mark Carney.
“Building a stronger, more resilient, and more independent country will require ambition, collaboration, and occasionally, sacrifice,” Carney wrote. “I am grateful to Matt and his family that he will continue his service as a strong voice for Edmonton Riverbend in Parliament.”

Leave it to the Democrats and their regime media flunkies to take the 1 percent side of a 99 percent to 1 percent issue, but a whole bunch of them, including Gavin Hairstyle and Jake Tapper, got into a high dudgeon the other day because normal Americans rejected the demand of radical Muslims to give up our puppies. Given the choice between Fido and Muslims who hate canines, the American people came down four-square in favor of Lassie. This is why you don’t ask a question if you don’t want to hear the answer.

OTTAWA — The diaspora organization that backed Conservative-turned-Liberal MP Michael Ma — and counts him as a former director — is now explicitly named in a landmark new study as part of the Chinese Communist Party’s overseas United Front influence network. The same association orchestrated pressure campaigns to oust two successive Conservative leaders over their stances toward Beijing, and its associates appear in Ma’s own campaign finance filings. The finding raises urgent new questions about one of the most consequential floor crossings in recent Canadian parliamentary history.
