Most Canadians believe China did try to interfere in elections: poll

A majority of Canadians believe China attempted to interfere in recent federal elections and want to see stronger measures to prevent foreign meddling, a new poll suggests, adding to the growing calls for Ottawa to take action.

The new poll from the Angus Reid Institute, released Wednesday, also found 53 per cent of those surveyed believe the Liberal government has not been strong enough in responding to China’s alleged interference attempts, and even more (64 per cent) want more focus on national security and defence.

‘It’s a hollowed out shell’: Portland business owners say they’re fleeing crime-ridden Dem-led city en masse

Business owners are fleeing Portland in droves amid a pronounced rise in crime and homelessness, officials in the Democratic stronghold have revealed.

Public data shows that since the pandemic, more than 2,600 downtown businesses have filed changes of address with the U.S. Postal Service to leave their downtown ZIP codes.

Several big-name employers, from Unitus Community Credit Union to Umpqua Bank, have been among the mass exodus, carried out by owners who have taken issue with the rising crime levels and homelessness – and the city’s failure to address it.

NPR Promotes ‘The Communist Manifesto’ in 2023

It’s entirely predictable, even inevitable, that public broadcasting would favor socialism in all its programming. But it’s a little more surprising when it openly touts The Communist Manifesto.

Since I’m a conservative glutton for punishment, I was driving on the highway on Sunday morning listening to the NPR-distributed program On The Media with host Brooke Gladstone, a longtime fixture on NPR. It was predictable when she chatted with socialist Naomi Oreskes about their mutual loathing of “free-market fundamentalism.” But the next segment was even worse. My jaw dropped.

Germany: How does its Kazakh oil deal benefit Russia?

This week, Kazakhstan shipped the first batch of crude to Germany through the Druzhba pipeline system as the German government looks to shore up supplies for a key refinery in Eastern Germany that until the turn of the year was fed almost exclusively by Russian oil.

The shipment of 20,000 tons, or about 145,000 barrels, is part of Germany’s broader plan to cut its dependency on Russian oil. Europe’s largest economy stopped buying oil from Russia this year even as pipeline crude oil remains exempt from a European Union embargo on Russian oil prompted by Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

Chinese embassy decries ‘baseless and defamatory’ interference claims

OTTAWA – China’s embassy in Ottawa is denying reports of attempted election interference in Canada, saying the claims are “baseless and defamatory” and harm diplomatic relations.

The Liberal government has come under pressure in recent weeks to explain what Canada is doing about allegations of Chinese meddling in the last two federal elections, after they were spelled out in anonymous leaks to the media from security sources.

“China has always been firmly against any attempts to interfere in other countries’ domestic affairs,” reads a statement the embassy emailed to The Canadian Press.

FBI chief Christopher Wray says China lab leak most likely

FBI Director Christopher Wray has said that the bureau believes Covid-19 most likely originated in a Chinese government-controlled lab.

“The FBI has for quite some time now assessed that the origins of the pandemic are most likely a potential lab incident,” he told Fox News.

It is the first public confirmation of the FBI’s classified judgement of how the pandemic virus emerged.

Not an accident.

Chinese donors who funded Trudeau Foundation wanted statue of Mao in Montreal

The politically connected Chinese donors who pledged $1-million to the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation and the University of Montreal did not only want to build a statue of the former prime minister.

They also sought to erect a statue at the university’s law school of chairman Mao Zedong, the Chinese leader who brought his country under Communist control and, in his decades as the Great Helmsman, oversaw policies that led to huge numbers of deaths from famine and violence.

“They suggested one of Trudeau and Mao together,” Geneviève O’Meara, a spokesperson for the University of Montreal, confirmed to The Globe and Mail.

Lunatic Guilbeault Vows To Go Full Climate Totalitarian On Business … is he marching to Xi’s tune?

Oilpatch emissions will fall ‘because we’re going to force them,’ environment minister says

When it comes to cutting carbon emissions, regular Canadians are doing their part.

Emissions from heating homes, driving cars, flying and even garbage are all down from 2005 levels.

But this progress on the path to net zero is being cancelled out by significant rises in emissions from big business and industry.

Recent revelations that the CCP has thoroughly infiltrated the Liberal Party makes me suspect that China dictates our so-called climate change policy.

Christian girls basketball team backs out of tournament due to male on opposing squad

A Christian high school withdrew from a state basketball tournament rather than face a team with a transgender player.

The Mid Vermont Christian School Eagles (MVCS) girls basketball team pulled out of the Vermont Division IV state tournament on February 21 after learning that their opponents’ team would include a biological male. The head of the school, Vicky Fogg, said in a statement regarding the decision to forfeit that including men in women’s sports was a bad sign for the future of women’s sports.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago Loses Her Bid for Re-election

CHICAGO — Mayor Lori Lightfoot of Chicago lost her bid for a second term on Tuesday, The Associated Press said, a resounding defeat that reflected widespread dissatisfaction from voters over her handling of crime and policing in the nation’s third-largest city.

Four years ago, Ms. Lightfoot made history as the first Black woman to be elected mayor of Chicago when she swept all 50 of the city’s wards. But she saw her popularity plunge during the coronavirus pandemic as Chicago suffered a spike in violent crime, with looting and destruction on its famed Magnificent Mile in 2020.

I’m gonna miss you.
