NHS calls in exorcist over fears of ghost of girl in red dress

Perhaps she was a patient at the children’s hospital in the 1970s. Or a lost little girl whose fate we will never know.

Either way, staff at the hospice in Norwich feared her presence still haunted the wards, in the ghostly form of a small child in a red dress.

To address their concerns about “paranormal incidents”, an NHS chaplain called in deliverance ministers – commonly known as exorcists – to carry out a religious service using holy oil.

Pro-Caliphate Group in Canada Holds Annual Conference Under the Radar

The Canadian branch of Hizb ut-Tahrir, a global Islamist group, recently convened its annual conference, promoting a political project that sought the destruction of Western democracies and their replacement with a transnational Islamic caliphate. Themed “Khilafah Is Imminent: What Have You Prepared For It?,” the January 17, 2026, event was conducted online in a likely attempt to minimize scrutiny.

Larry Maher: Weak leadership and lax immigration policy is tearing the fabric of Canadian society

Canada is undergoing a quiet but profound erosion of national cohesion, authority and cultural confidence. At every level of government, political leadership has increasingly substituted ideological appeasement for the basic responsibilities of maintaining social order, enforcing the law and protecting the integrity of Canadian citizenship.

For much of the 20th century, Canada’s immigration model was focused on bringing in the skilled workers and families who wanted to come to build a better life. Newcomers were expected to join a shared national project, not to import unresolved conflicts or establish parallel political identities. Yet over the last decade, that balance has shifted dramatically.

Ontario PCs bar reporters from policy convention

Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives will not allow reporters to attend their annual gathering in Toronto this weekend, a move critics say projects an appearance of “weakness” and breaks from political norms.

The party’s director of communication says the event at the Toronto Congress Centre will be for party members only. The response comes after days of inquiries by CBC News to secure accreditation to the event.

“The Ontario PC Party Convention is a closed event and will not be open to media attendance,” spokesperson Peter Turkington said in a brief message to CBC News.

Immigration Figures: Why the Invasion of France Isn’t a Fantasy

The 2025 immigration figures for France have just been published, and, unsurprisingly, they paint a catastrophic picture, with a constant and sustained increase in arrivals on French territory. However, these figures only cover legal immigration: if we add estimates of illegal arrivals, it becomes clear that the feeling of being overwhelmed by an invasion experienced by many French people is not just a figment of their imagination.

France issued 384,230 first residence permits—valid for up to 12 months—last year, an increase of 11.2% over the previous year. This figure is essential because it is the ultimate indicator for measuring legal immigration, as Nicolas Pouvreau-Monti, director of the Observatory of Immigration and Demography, points out in an interview for Atlantico. It does not include renewals of residence permits, European foreigners, or minors, which means that it is actually a low estimate of the number of arrivals.

Dr. Oz Provides Update on California’s Healthcare Fraud

Last week, Dr. Oz, head of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, said there was significant Medicare/Medicaid fraud in California related to hospice services. We’re not really surprised to find massive fraud happening under Gavin Newsom’s watch. The guy was given tens of millions of dollars to end homelessness in the state. That money is gone, but homelessness has gotten worse, and we can connect those dots.

Geoff Russ: Poilievre rebuilt the Conservatives with populism. The party must not reject it

As the Conservatives prepare for their annual convention in Calgary this weekend, hostile voices are trying to undermine them. They are being told to be less hard-edged, to reject populism, to be respectable “team players.”

Yet rejecting populism would be a disaster, one that would destroy all the rebuilding accomplished by the party since 2022. Roughly four in 10 Canadians back the party, and the base itself is strongly supportive of leader Pierre Poilievre.

John Ivison: Sources say Ottawa considering Swedish jets over F-35s for half of fleet

The petulance displayed by the U.S. ambassador to Canada is exactly what you might expect from Pete Hoekstra if he had just been informed that Canada intends to spend half the money earmarked for new F-35 fighter jets on the rival Swedish Gripen.

Hoekstra apparently skipped the class on diplomacy being about saying the nastiest thing in the nicest way. Instead, he threatened that there would be consequences for the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD), if Canada did not buy 88 F-35A fighter jets, as the Trudeau government said it would in December 2022 (after initially cancelling the project in 2015).
