Trudeau government’s policies to blame for out-of-control inflation

As we sit and watch the Bank of Canada do its thing, the loudest conversations I seem to be hearing surround the impact this is having on the housing market.

If you’re a buyer who threw every penny the bank would give you at the prospect of homeownership over the past two-and-a-half years, you’re probably consumed by such chatter yourself; after all, as rates go up, prices come down. We know this.

Former Alberta Human Rights Commission chief to sue province over dismissal

Alberta’s former Human Rights Commission chief will be taking legal action for what his lawyer says was an “unjust” termination.

On Thursday, the province rescinded the appointment of Collin May as head of the commission through a cabinet order after pressure from the Muslim community over a book review he published that’s been called Islamophobic.

… May reviewed Israeli-British historian Efraim Karsh’s book “Islamic Imperialism: A History,” where he claimed Islam was “one of the most militaristic religions known to man.”

I can do better! Islam is a militaristic murder cult of goat shaggers.

Portland mom finds homeless person in her child’s BED and calls cops – but woke DA lets intruder go with bail set at $0

A Portland, Oregon mother who found a homeless woman in her son’s bed was blindsided a second time when the city’s woke district attorney let the intruder go within 24 hours.

Kelsey Smith, from Northeast Portland, first knew something was amiss when she heard her dogs barking in a bedroom and went to investigate. She initially thought her husband was playing a prank on her, but within moments quickly realized someone had broken into her home to hide out.

After backing out of the room and calling for help, Smith was bum rushed by the intruder, who had picked up an ottoman and threw it at her before leaving the home.

‘Never sleeps, never even blinks’: the hi-tech Anduril towers spreading along the US border

On a hot May afternoon in southern California, near the border with Mexico, white-and-green border vehicles patrol the two-lane highway, black helicopters glide across the sky – and their latest companions, autonomous surveillance towers built by the tech defence company Anduril, peek over the ridges.

One Anduril tower, perched on a hill, has a clear view over the rusty brown border wall and into the Mexican town of Tecate. From here, it can detect people who climb over the wall and walk across the rugged landscape on the US side. Approach the hill and the camera atop the tower swivels toward you.

Pawnbrokers, winners of Germany’s growing economic crisis

German Commies Protest Cost Of Living

Anybody who wants to know how the Germany economy is running need only count the number of customers Nikolaus Bode has.

The formula for working this out is fairly simple. If the pawnbroker in the small western city of Siegburg is not very busy, the whole country is doing well. But if people are breaking down his doors, that indicates some kind of crisis.

In September this year, Bode is so busy he can hardly think. That means Germany’s in a mess. “A pawnbroker is an indicator,” Bode told DW. “People come here when there is a lot of unemployment or severe economic problems.”

Police By Another Name

Demand for private security is booming in Minneapolis.

In June 2020, the Minneapolis city council famously vowed to defund the police department. Though their plans fell through, the fully funded MPD is nonetheless struggling. More than 250 officers have resigned or retired since then. Earlier this year, the Minneapolis supreme court ruled that the city has a duty to staff the MPD with a minimum of 731 sworn officers, but the department is at least 100 officers short of that target. Meantime, crime has spiked, with 96 homicides in 2021—doubling the number in 2019 and tying a 1995 record.

Ukraine war: Russian retreat exposes military weaknesses

“You have no idea how tired I am to say hello to someone in the morning and then have to identify his remains later the same day,” one Russian officer serving as a marine in Ukraine reportedly confided over the phone to a former colleague back home, who published it on his Telegram channel.

“Just yesterday two of my sniper groups were destroyed by a tank. Three men died instantly, the fourth one fought for his life for an hour and a half, another one in critical condition was taken to hospital. We have hardly any men left and we are holding a front line dozens of kilometres long.”

Harry and Meghan ‘uninvited to state reception at Buckingham Palace on Sunday which is for working royals only’

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were ‘uninvited’ to a state reception for world leaders and foreign royals tomorrow evening, it was reported last night.

It is thought the couple received an invitation to the event, hosted by King Charles and the Queen Consort, earlier in the week.

But Prince Harry and his wife Meghan are now unlikely to attend after officials at Buckingham Palace insisted the reception was for working royals only, it is understood.

The making of Pierre Poilievre, conservative proselytizer

At a lunchtime campaign stop in the town of Fergus, Ont., in April, the lineup to see Pierre Poilievre wound around the hallways of a recreation centre.

Two nights earlier, his downtown Toronto rally finished with hundreds standing in a serpentine line for 90 minutes, waiting to take a picture with him. Many hadn’t been to a political event before.

It’s a scene replicated in towns and cities across the country, with a cross-section of traditional conservatives, trucker-convoy fans and 30-somethings worried about home prices coming out in droves to see Mr. Poilievre.

Migrants’ arrival sets off a white liberal meltdown in Martha’s Vineyard

‘We have talked to a number of people who’ve asked, ‘Where am I?’ And then I was trying to explain where Martha’s Vineyard is,” said befuddled Edgartown, Mass., Police Chief Bruce McNamee of the 50 illegal immigrants who landed on two charter flights at the island’s only airport Wednesday.

According to local reports, the airport officials believed the planes were delivering corporate guys on a late-season golf retreat, before suffering the crushing disappointment that the arriving passengers were, in fact, poor people of color.

Looks like we’re stuck with Charlie …

So you want Canada to abolish the monarchy? Here’s why that’s basically impossible

So you want to get rid of the monarchy in Canada?

Legal and constitutional experts agree: It’s practically impossible.

In the wake of the death of Queen Elizabeth II — whose 70-year reign was the longest in Canadian history — Canadians are again questioning whether it makes sense for the country’s head of state to be a hereditary monarch who lives in the United Kingdom. The Queen’s eldest son, King Charles III, automatically became Canada’s head of state upon his mother’s death.
