Conservative party internal data shows extent of Poilievre leadership victory

OTTAWA — Pierre Poilievre began putting his mark on the Conservative party Sunday after a stunning victory in the leadership race which put to bed all questions about how big a mandate he’d get from the membership.

Poilievre swept 300 of the 338 available ridings, analysis of Saturday night’s results shows.

Among them: those represented in the House of Commons by two of the other candidates in the contest, Scott Aitchison and Leslyn Lewis, and the riding of York Centre, which another candidate, Roman Baber, once represented provincially in Ontario.

Russian soldiers ‘literally running’ for their lives as chain of command collapses

Panicked Russian soldiers are abandoning their tanks, weapons and even clothes as they “literally run from their positions” in the face of a shock Ukrainian offensive, soldiers have told The Telegraph.

A Ukrainian intelligence unit on the front line said the Russian chain of command was broken and soldiers were fleeing without putting up a fight, many of them changing into civilian clothes to avoid detection.

The Conservative Party knows what it wants to be, and it wants to be like Pierre Poilievre

That couldn’t be clearer.

The Conservative Party has decided what it wants to be, and what it wants to be is Pierre Poilievre’s party.

The rank and file, and the hundreds of thousands who joined the rank and file, from convoy supporters to frustrated suburbanites, have decided they want the party to be an unabashed, never-apologize movement, and they wanted someone just like that to lead them. Those folks were always drawing a picture of Mr. Poilievre in their minds and eventually they sketched it onto leadership ballots.

Trudeau will not leave Canada in Poilievre’s hands

MONTREAL—As of now, all is in place for an electoral duel between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre. The only unknown is when what is lining up to be an epic battle will take place.

Provided the Liberal/NDP pact holds, Canada will not be going to the polls this fall and perhaps not until 2025. Even if Trudeau wanted to call a snap election to try to get an edge on a rookie leader, his own party is anything but on a solid electoral footing.

A journalist is murdered, a Democrat pol is charged, and a local reporter finds a way to blame Trump

Murder is staring journalists in the face, now that a veteran investigative journalist, Jeff German of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, has been stabbed and killed in cold blood, allegedly by a Democrat politician.

But does that make an impression on the local talent in the press pool? Not to at least one of them.

Sabrina Maddeaux: Conservatives are all Poilievers now, can they persuade the Poili-curious?

Pierre Poilievre’s victory to win the Conservative Party of Canada leadership comes as no surprise, but now begins the hard part.

At a subdued convention, which nixed $8,000 worth of confetti cannons out of respect for Queen Elizabeth II and began with a melancholic jazz rendition of God Save the King, Poilievre won on the first ballot with 68.15 per cent of points and 330 ridings under his belt. Jean Charest, with 16.07 per cent, wasn’t even close.

We’re heading for Net Zero ruin because our politicians are science dunces

LIZ Truss has inherited a raft of problems as she takes over in Downing Street. One website lists 16. Of these, at least five need scientific understanding – cyber crime, Covid, global warming, energy, plus how to deal with the growing clamour from climate protest groups.

The only Prime Minister in the last 200 years to have had a science degree was Margaret Thatcher. The last five, Blair, Brown, Cameron, May and Johnson, respectively held degrees in Law, History, PPE (philosophy, politics and economics), Geography and Classics. Liz Truss has the standard PPE qualification.

The Biden Administration Is Engaged in a Massive Censorship Campaign

In a federal lawsuit, discovery reveals a multi-agency effort to censor and suppress voices that disagree with administration policies.

The bedrock of American democracy, the First Amendment, prohibits Congress from making laws “abridging the freedom of speech.” The Supreme Court has repeatedly applied this prohibition to executive actions, as well.

Threat From Above: Drones Are Dropping Grenades on Russian Tanks

Enterprising Ukrainian soldiers are using modified World War II-era hand grenades dropped from mini-drones, an innovative tactic that is reportedly damaging and destroying advancing Russian armored vehicles.

Interestingly, the grenades themselves were originally made in the Soviet Union to use against German tanks toward the end of World War II.

“The Russians invented a hand grenade. It was a shaped hand grenade that you could throw at a tank. And if you hit it, you could knock a tank out. And that was a result of them not being able to knock out German tanks with the stuff they had,” Mike Mears, former director of human capital at the CIA, told The National Interest in an interview.

‘These Attacks Have Racist, Religious Motives’: The Persecution of Christians, July 2022

“The scale of killings, displacement and wanton destruction of property by these Fulani jihadist militia only buttresses the now revealed agenda to depopulate Christian communities in Nigeria and take over lands. Tellingly, the government in power in Nigeria at the moment continues to do nothing about these persistent attacks, save to give laughable reasons like ‘climate change’ or that some Muslims too are sometimes killed in attacks by so-called bandits.” — Bishop Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe, Independent Catholic News, July 19, 2022, Nigeria.

Texas teacher on pedophiles: ‘Don’t judge people just because they want to have sex with a 5-year-old’

A Texas high school teacher’s apparent defense of the feelings of pedophiles blew up big time after a video of her instructing students to refer to depraved sexual degenerates as “Minor Attracted Persons” was posted to social media where it went viral, resulting in a predictable firestorm of outrage that may have burned her career to a cinder.

The woman – identified as Amber Parker – who teaches English at Franklin High School in El Paso has been placed on administrative leave and is facing termination for her remarks during a lesson, admonishing a student who did not use the “woke” left’s preferred descriptive term for criminal perverts who prey on underaged victims.

Librarians go radical as new woke policies take over: experts

Marian the Librarian, the prim, bespectacled love interest of con artist Harold Hill in the classic musical, “The Music Man,” wouldn’t recognize her profession today.

Libraries, for decades the ultimate safe spaces, have become ground zero in the ongoing culture wars, with battles over banned books, drag queen story hours and free access to porn raging all over the country — from Louisiana to Idaho to Washington State as well as cities like New York and LA.

Putin and Xi welcome Iran to anti-West ‘dictators’ club’

The Shanghai Co-Operation Organisation was once a small, obscure list of autocrats that posed no real threat. Not any more, writes Matthew Campbell

Authoritarian world leaders including President Putin of Russia and President Xi of China will gather this week in Central Asia for the annual summit of an obscure organisation which has attracted little global attention since its founding in 1996.

That is about to change, for the Shanghai Co-Operation Organisation (SCO) is poised to take a bold step. In a development certain to irritate Washington, it is granting membership to Iran, a country regarded in America as a state sponsor of terrorism.
