The Degree Divide: Why University Graduates Are Falling Behind in Canada’s Job Market

Young adults graduating with a bachelor’s degree or higher are facing an increasingly bleak job market in Canada, even more so than many other demographics.

There were 493,000 unemployed individuals holding a bachelor’s degree or higher in the third quarter of 2025 but only 80,600 estimated job vacancies to demand such qualifications, according to Statistics Canada.

What are the reasons for this disparity and what actions can be taken to better the prospects for post-secondary degree holders in Canada?

Experts interviewed by the Epoch Times say the difficulty faced by credentialed young adults is primarily due to a mismatch between the kinds of degrees being obtained and the jobs being created, as well as the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), and overall economic decline.

Museums hide naked male sculptures because they ‘must not be seen by men’

Museums have hidden sculptures of naked males because they were designed for women’s eyes only.

Manchester Museum has ensured carved figures and other objects remain in storage and out of respect for African cultural taboos.

Part of the University of Manchester, the museum keeps wooden sculptures from public view because in their original cultural context, they were only intended to be viewed by women.

Trump’s foreign policy shows what the U.S. is really thinking. Canada must respond

We now have a written copy of the Donroe Doctrine, and it makes for some unnerving reading.

The National Security Strategy serves as America’s written foreign policy, laying out priorities and concerns and revealing how the United States intends to both co-operate with its allies and compete with its adversaries. The first such document of Donald Trump’s second presidency dropped in early December, and it’s a salmagundi of a thing, inscrutable and contradictory.

Growing number of California sheriffs no longer respond to mental health calls

In the past year, a handful of sheriff’s departments in California have started refusing to respond to 911 calls that involve a mental health crisis, but where no crime has been reported.

In February, the Sacramento sheriff, Jim Cooper, announced that his deputies would only respond to mental health crises if a crime had been committed or was in process, or if someone other than the person in crisis was in imminent danger. Down in San Diego county, the police chief for the city of El Cajon, Jeremiah Larson, made a similar policy decision in May.

Canadian politics in 2026: Two fault lines that could alter the landscape

The year-in-review phase is over. It’s time to look ahead.

In Canadian politics, 2025 will be remembered as the year of Trump. In 2026, I regret to predict, very little will change. In my last column, I argued that the U.S. midterms — and President

Donald Trump’s rhetoric in the lead-up — will turn Canada into an increasingly convenient political target, spelling trouble for our economy and particularly for the looming CUSMA renegotiations.

That is a seismic risk. But it is far from the only political story Canadians should be watching in the year ahead.

Somali Immigrant Welfare Scams Uncovered in Minnesota–and Sweden

More than one billion Swedish kronor (€92.4 million) in taxpayer funds intended for preschools and schools have been siphoned off through an Islamist-affiliated welfare fraud network in Sweden. A recent probe found that funds meant to support Sweden’s education system were diverted through a network of independent schools allegedly linked to radical Islamist activity.

The findings followed a police raid on an apartment in Gävle, north of Stockholm, where several individuals connected to a radical and violent Islamist extremist group were staying. Police were searching for Rabie Karam, described as “one of the main actors” in a network of schools accused of recruiting and spreading radical Islam.

Ontario judge reluctantly accedes to ‘very lenient’ sentence for drug dealer who terrorized two women

A recent court decision out of Ontario reveals how judges’ hands are tied when it comes to sentencing hard-core criminals.

Justice Craig Brannagan was sentencing Justin Anderson for repeatedly flashing a handgun at a woman he forcibly confined for a week the spring of 2024 while he travelled through the province selling drugs, and for later terrorizing another woman at gunpoint he believed to be an informant. Both the Crown and defence lawyers in Anderson’s case had recommended he be sentenced to 10 and a half years in prison. The judge dubbed their position “very lenient,” but he went along with it, anyway.

A scientific study written by a MAID lobby group may be attempting to sway policy

A medical assistance in dying (MAID) study exposes how MAID lobby groups may be attempting to influence policy in Canada — through the publication of medical studies.

A study on patients who were forced to transfer out of faith-based hospitals to receive medical assistance in dying (MAID) claims this caused “unnecessary suffering” for those who had to be transfered.

We Still Don’t Know the Enemy: “It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated.”

Sun Tzu in The Art of War wrote, “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat.” This lesson has often been ignored by the West when confronting Islamic jihadism. Religion in general has not been taken seriously by our technocratic, materialist, secularist world view.

The dark comedy of the Islamo-left alliance

The 7 October 2023 pogrom in southern Israel, when several thousand Hamas militants set out to kill and rape as many Jews as possible, seemed to energise bourgeois leftists across the West. They seemed thrilled by what they eagerly portrayed as an act of ‘resistance’. Excited by what they conceived as a righteous uprising by Palestinians against ‘settler-colonial’ Israelis. Charged by what they painted as a radical blow against an outpost of Western imperialism.

It proved to be a pivotal moment. The left had long flirted with anti-Semitic Islamists and other Islamic activists, but 7 October truly solidified it. Since then, this grim Islamo-leftist coupling has become a prominent feature of the Western political landscape.
