ISLAMABAD (AP) — The Taliban on Saturday ruled out cooperation with the United States to contain extremist groups in Afghanistan, staking out an uncompromising position on a key issue ahead of the first direct talks between the former foes since America withdrew from the country in August.

Senior Taliban officials and U.S. representatives are to meet Saturday and Sunday in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Officials from both sides have said issues include reining in extremist groups and the evacuation of foreign citizens and Afghans from the country. The Taliban have signaled flexibility on evacuations.

Looks like he OD’d

OTTAWA — Conservative MP Michael Chong says the party is still studying the government’s new mandatory vaccine policy before taking a position on the issue.

Court declines to set out sentencing framework for mitigation of anti-Black racism

“… The Appeal Court said that courts should give a “generous gateway” for admitting evidence about the effect of anti-Black racism on an offender, but the specific sentencing framework for Indigenous offenders does not apply to Black offenders.

Evidence about “social context” such as experiences with anti-Black racism doesn’t impact the seriousness of an offence, but a “generous gateway” should be provided for using it to mitigate personal responsibility, the court said.”

This is Dindunuffin as “social context”

Defeated Tory MP says review of Conservatives’ election loss will examine O’Toole’s performance

The defeated Conservative MP now tasked with determining where his party’s federal election campaign went wrong says he intends to “hit the ground running” within the week — and his work will include a review of leader Erin O’Toole’s campaign performance.

“I’ve already reached out to people within the party, outside the party. I’ve already started to arrange some interviews for next week and I intend to start travelling within the next couple of weeks,” James Cumming told CBC’s The House this week.

No question, the sphincter relaxant was the campaign’s salvation.

Erin O’Toole will reliably renounce, walk back, toss under a bus any policy or person as deemed necessary. That’s consistency you can count on.

“Burlington man”, who made up a tale about being an Islamic State executioner, sees terrorism-hoax charges dropped

What has the world come to when even the New York Times can’t be trusted!

A Burlington man, who made up a story about being an Islamic State executioner, has seen the rare terrorism-hoax charges he faced dropped, after his stories became the focus of major media reports, capturing worldwide attention and creating a political storm in Canada.

Justice Donald McLeod accepted the Crown’s decision to withdraw terrorism-hoax charges laid against 26-year-old Shehroze Chaudhry in a Brampton court Friday.

The charges were withdrawn after it was found the accused had made up claims to have fought for Islamic State and he posed little threat to the public.
