Sen. Rand Paul Goes After Fauci: Has Self-Interest in Hiding Any Responsibility for ‘Anything Done in the Wuhan Lab’

As most people know by now Senator Rand Paul and Dr. Anthony Fauci got into a heated exchange yesterday in which Fauci called Rand Paul a “liar” for claiming the NIH funded gain of function experiments at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Paul then said he sent a letter to the DOJ asking for a criminal referral against Fauci for contempt of Congress.

The reaction to Fauci’s outburst and Paul’s subsequent referral to the DOJ is pretty much as you would expect. Mainstream media outlets praise Fauci for standing up to Paul, while conservative news outlets express outrage that Fauci would call a sitting US Senator who was also a medical doctor a “liar.”

While progressives tweeted, churches serving indigenous communities burned

It’s strange that Canada, one of the most privileged countries in the world, is home to people who repeatedly insist that it is the worst. This month, in a classic move, activists commemorated Canada Day by trying to cancel it. The trigger was the discovery of hundreds of unmarked graves on sites that had been church-run schools for indigenous children. There was no mention of the fact that celebration and consideration are not mutually exclusive.

When Jen “Circleback Girl” Psaki announced, to the astonishment of half the country, that the White House was going to flag social media posts for deletion based on whether or not those posts fit the official COVID narrative, on its face the statement was objectionable enough.

One can conjure countless scenarios of Sarah Sanders or Kayleigh McEnany doing the same thing, and the country erupting in outrage. They never did, and still their critics on the left called the Trump administration “authoritarian.”

Odious speech is ‘the price we pay for our freedom,’ B.C. Supreme Court says in ruling

A city violated the free expression of a church when it cancelled an event because of the participation of an anti-LGBTQ activist, according to a decision by the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

In a ruling that came down in support of free speech, Justice Maria Morellato said, “In a free and democratic society, the exchange and expression of diverse and often controversial or unpopular ideas may cause discomfort. It is, in a sense, the price we pay for our freedom.”

Pretty shocking, for Canada.

CDC whistleblower claims vaccine death toll far greater than VAERS is reporting, says attorney filing federal lawsuit

Thomas Renz, an Ohio-based attorney, said at a conference in California last weekend that he is filing a federal lawsuit on behalf of a whistleblower from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) who is claiming there are at least 45,000 deaths from one of multiple reporting systems that report to the Vaccine Adverse Effect Reporting System (VAERS), which is maintained by the CDC.

But it is another sign that high-end spy techniques, which used to be the exclusive preserve of a few states, are now spreading more widely and challenging the way we think about privacy and security in an online world.

In the not-too-distant past, if a security service wanted to find out what you were up to, it took a fair degree of effort. They might get a warrant to wiretap your phone. Or plant a bug in your house. Or send a surveillance team to follow you.

Arabs Warn Biden: The War on Terrorism is not Over

As the United States prepares to complete its withdrawal from Afghanistan by August 31, 2021, a growing number of Arabs are worried that the American move will not only bring the Taliban back to power there, but also lead to the re-emergence of other Islamist terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda and Islamic State (ISIS).

The Arabs are saying that the Americans are mistaken if they think that the war on terrorism will end with the withdrawal of the US troops from Afghanistan.

They are warning the US that it will pay a heavy price for allowing Afghanistan to fall into the hands of terrorist groups. They are also saying that they see no difference between the Taliban, Al-Qaeda and ISIS, and how these groups openly cooperate with each other.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) added her voice to a group of Democratic lawmakers Tuesday calling on Secretary of State Antony Blinken to appoint a special U.S. international envoy tasked with ending “Islamophobia” wherever it is found.

Omar and two dozen other political allies pointed to what they called the “persecution of Muslims manifesting itself around the world” as reason for the appointment.

The Chinese foreign ministry has backed calls for an investigation into the Fort Detrick biolab as an origin of the Covid-19 pandemic after 4.7 million Chinese petitioned the WHO to send experts to the Maryland facility.

Speaking on Wednesday, foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said that the Chinese people had delivered a clear message in signing a petition, created by state-run news agency The Global Times, calling for a World Health Organization (WHO) investigation into the Fort Detrick biolab.

Death of 13-year-old girl sparks calls for action on FGM in Somalia

A 13-year-old girl has died after undergoing female genital mutilation (FGM) in Somalia, as activists report a rise in the practice during the pandemic.

Fartun Hassan Ahmed, the daughter of nomadic pastoralists, bled to death after being cut earlier this month in the village of Jeerinle in the state of Galmudug, her mother said.

Activists believe it is the first reported case of an FGM fatality in Somalia since the death of 10-year-old Deeqa Dahir Nuur in 2018. With one of the highest rates of cutting in the world, the east African country has no national law against the practice.

Quebec nixes LNG plant that would have carried Western Canadian natural gas to overseas markets

The Quebec government has refused to approve construction of a natural gas facility in the Saguenay, north of Quebec City, following years of opposition from citizens, Indigenous communities and environmental experts.

The decision, announced today by Environment Minister Benoit Charette, is all but certain to halt a $14-billion project that would have carried natural gas from Western Canada across Quebec to the Saguenay port, and then shipped it to markets overseas.

Premier François Legault’s government had initially been a proponent of the project.

Citizen-made database of local businesses with vaccinated staff shuts down after online hate and harassment

A database of local businesses in Ontario that had clear vaccine policies and chose to make public the vaccination status about their staff has been shut down after the businesses were flooded with hateful responses and negative reviews online.

There was just something so “Shitty-assed Toronto” about this idea.
