Employers worry about cheap foreign labour shortages after Ford government cuts sketchy immigrant work program

Employers of immigrant skilled trades workers are concerned for their businesses after the Ford government cut part of an immigrant work program over fraud concerns.

Nasir Ali, owner of Insultech Ltd: Mechanical Insulation and Firestopping and Arafco Mechanical Services Ltd — located in Brampton and Mississauga — believes “the main issue is not for these workers, the issue is for the business owners.”

“I had 47 guys, now I have only 32 guys, so how can we manage the jobs,” said Ali. “I have a chance to get more projects, but I refuse it because we don’t have enough manpower.”

Everywhere you look we’re being scammed by foreigners.

US engaging in ‘extreme rightwing tropes’ reminiscent of 1930s, British MPs warn

The US is engaging in “extreme rightwing tropes” with echoes of the 1930s and threatening “chilling” interference in European democracies, British MPs warned ministers on Thursday.

The House of Commons rounded on Donald Trump’s national security strategy, which stated that Europe was facing “civilisational erasure” and vowed to help the continent “correct its current trajectory and promote patriotic European parties”.

Matt Western, a Labour MP and chair of parliament’s joint committee on the UK government’s national security strategy, warned: “The United States consensus that has led the western world since the second world war appears shattered.”

LILLEY: Carney looks to tap friend and fundraiser for Washington

Opposition parties howled with anger over reports that Prime Minister Mark Carney will appoint his friend and fundraiser Mark Wiseman as Canada’s next ambassador to Washington. Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre called Wiseman a “corporate crony” and an “elite” — two things that actually might help him in Washington and with the Trump administration.

He’s one of the scumsucking slimeballs behind the Century 100 initiative.

‘Jingle Bells’ is racist, claims video shared by Joy Reid — sparking Christmas culture war

Fired MSNBC host Joy Reid played Grinch on social media this week, sharing a video claiming beloved Christmas anthem “Jingle Bells” was written “to make fun of black people.”

Trump’s point man on trade floats separate deals with Canada and Mexico

U.S. President Donald Trump’s lead trade negotiator says the administration is considering breaking up the three-way free trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, moving toward separate deals instead.

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said Wednesday that the Trump administration is keeping all options on the table for the future of the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) as it comes up for renewal in 2026.

But Greer, who plays a key role in all trade negotiations, including the looming review of CUSMA, is laying out a strong case for separate bilateral deals with the country’s northern and southern neighbours — a move that would end 30 years of North America having a unified free trade agreement.

Nothing new really the US and Mexico nearly shut Canada out the last go round thanks to Freeland.

Trump is right. Europe is a weak and declining continent

The ‘coalition of the willing’ can barely defend itself, let alone protect Ukraine from Russian aggression

Sir Keir Starmer’s blatant attempt to undermine the Trump administration’s Herculean effort to end the Ukraine conflict would be a great deal more credible if he and his European chums had the military clout to back their alternative diplomatic offering.

While leaders of Starmer’s so-called “coalition of the willing” were at pains not to criticise US president Donald Trump directly, their unstated intention during their Downing Street summit this week was to encourage Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to resist Trump’s land for peace proposal.

None of England, France or Germany can control the Muslim invaders within their borders, Russia can’t be too worried about them.

Michael Higgins: In Olivia Chow’s Toronto, Jew hatred is relentless

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow professes herself perplexed as to the motivation behind a petty, mean, cowardly thief stealing sacred scrolls from the doors of Jewish seniors.

Is Chow so arrogant that she fails to recognize it is because of her, and politicians like her, that this kind of antisemitic criminality happens?

I hate Chow.

Furious Erika Kirk slams ‘evil’ claims about Charlie Kirk’s assassination as she warns Candace Owens: ‘Stop’

Erika Kirk has furiously slammed ‘evil’ conspiracy theorists for making revolting claims linking Turning Point (TPUSA) staff to Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

The chief executive of the non-profit organization, who stepped into the role after her husband’s murder, warned that she would not allow her colleagues to be targeted by online trolls.

Inflammatory claims by provocateurs, including Candace Owens, have led to threats against TPUSA staff.

Who won this week’s parliamentary pipeline game? Maybe no one

When the Conservatives tabled a motion asking the House of Commons to “take note” of the memorandum of understanding signed between the federal and Alberta governments and express its support for the construction of a pipeline, the Official Opposition presumably hoped, one way or another, to make trouble for the Liberal government.

According to the logic of these things, the Liberals only had two bad options.

If Mark Carney and his cabinet decided to vote in support of the motion, they no doubt risked highlighting dissent about a pipeline among Liberal backbenchers. At the very least, it is hard to imagine how Steven Guilbeault could have supported the Conservative motion.

Canada’s plan to expel those behind B.C.’s extortion epidemic has hit a roadblock after every single suspect sent for a deportation hearing claimed refugee status.

The foreign nationals were identified by B.C.’s Extortion Task Force, but once the Canada Border Services Agency began investigating them, all claimed to be refugees.

China will destroy US military in fight over Taiwan, top secret document warns

China would defeat the US military in a war over Taiwan, according to a top-secret US government assessment.

US reliance on costly, sophisticated weapons leaves it exposed to China’s ability to mass-produce cheaper systems in overwhelming numbers, the highly classified ‘Overmatch Brief’ warns.

A national security official under Joe Biden who reviewed the document is said to have turned pale on realising Beijing had “redundancy after redundancy” for “every trick we had up our sleeve”, The New York Times reported.
