Marc Polymeropoulos woke up in his hotel room with his head spinning and ears ringing. “I felt like I was going to vomit. I couldn’t stand up. I was falling over,” he recalls. “I have been shot at numerous times and this was the most terrifying experience in my life.”
Polymeropoulos had spent years in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan as a senior officer of the CIA fighting America’s war on terrorism. But that night in Moscow he believes he was targeted by a secret, microwave weapon.
MONTREAL — Steven Guilbeault, the minister of Canadian Heritage, doesn’t like Facebook much. The blue-hued social media platform is mentioned 34 times, almost always negatively, in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Guilbeault’s 2019 treatise on artificial intelligence. To wit: when it isn’t Hoovering data, helping elect the likes of Donald Trump or otherwise destroying humanity’s social fabric, Guilbeault says Facebook is busy hooking users on its product much as heroin ropes in addicts.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today is expected to announce the makings of an agreement to produce COVID-19 vaccines within Canada.
Industry Minister Francois-Phillipe Champagne tells The Canadian Press the government is moving quickly to start making COVID-19 vaccines itself, instead of being entirely reliant on foreign production for the most sought-after product in the world.
A bold strategy, lets see if it pays off. The ROC will just love that Quebec benefits.
Scammers are producing and selling fake negative coronavirus test certificates in airports, stations and online around Europe in the latest example of opportunistic coronavirus-related crime, the EU’s law enforcement agency has said.
“As long as travel restrictions remain in place due to the Covid-19 situation, it is highly likely that production and sales of fake test certificates will prevail,” Europol, the bloc’s police cooperation and coordination agency, said on Monday.
Please note that Toronto Public Health has now migrated all of their data to the provincial data system, CCM. This migration has impacted today’s daily counts, resulting in an underestimation of cases. We anticipate fluctuations in case numbers over the next few days.

The Campaign Research survey suggests 52 per cent believed it was Ottawa’s fault that supplies are low while 15 per cent pointed the finger at the provincial government with one per cent citing municipalities and 32 per cent unsure.
“Ontarians are very clear about who they blame for this,” Campaign Research principal Nick Kouvalis said Monday.

At what point will Canadians stand up and say “enough is enough” with hypocritical politicians endlessly expanding their power as a substitute for their errors?
‘I don’t know many poor, or working class, or female, or struggling-to-be-taken-seriously folk who would show up at the inauguration of our 46th president dressed like Bernie. Unless those same folk had privilege. Which they don’t.’
The deaths, reported by the vaccine injury tracking system for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, mostly occurred within 48 hours of the vaccine being administered.
As expected, the government will claim they are ‘protecting Canadians,’ while actually seeking to protect government from the criticism that is necessary in a free society.
In prior times, children who wanted to enjoy the wintry weather would flock to the west front of the U.S. Capitol Building, whose gentle slopes make for some of the best sledding or snow tubing in greater Washington. The event has become so commonplace that four years ago the Architect of the Capitol (the real “AOC”) published guidance and tips for anyone wishing to partake in this winter tradition.
The politicians and political staffers who came up with the idea to stick air travelers in quarantine hotels for COVID-19 testing and “isolation sites” for positive cases, seemed at first to be just extremely bureaucratic with their unreasonable measures, but through the implementation of the isolation policies, they have become downright authoritarian.

Not The Onion: Academic Media Censorship Conference Censored By YouTube
The entire video record of the conference — estimated at around 24 hours of material — was mysteriously disappeared from YouTube say conference organizers. An academic critical media literacy conference warning of the dangers of media censorship has, ironically, been censored by YouTube. The Critical Media Literacy Conference of the Americas 2020 took place without incident online over two days in October and featured a number of esteemed speakers and panels discussing issues concerning modern media studies.

Canadian Politics Has An Authoritarianism Problem
When out of power, Opposition parties say all the right things about respecting individual freedom. But once in office, they allow the temptation of power and centralized control to take over.

“Canada is two million doses short of vaccines this week. Will those who are vaccinated be exempt from the Liberals’ too-late travel restrictions?” Rempel Garner asked.
“We still don’t have information about the effect of the vaccine on transmissibility therefore all Canadians will be subject to these measures,” Alghabra replied.
