NBA stars and mafia among dozens arrested in illegal gambling crackdown

An NBA player and coach are among dozens of people arrested as part of a sweeping FBI investigation into illegal sports betting and rigged, mafia-linked poker games.

Miami Heat player Terry Rozier and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups were named by federal prosecutors in two separate indictments on Thursday.

Rozier, 31, is among six people arrested over alleged betting irregularities, including other NBA players who may have faked injuries to influence gambling markets.

In Islamized Europe, even Jewish films are banned

To quote Malmö’s imam Basem Mahmoud, “whether Swedes like it or not, in ten or fifteen years, Sweden will be ours.”

The cinemas in Malmö refused to host the Jewish Film Festival.

Out of seven cinema chains, not one theater in Sweden’s third-largest city had the courage to host an innocent Jewish film festival. No more “Fiddler on the Roof”.

From shtetl to casbah.

Galloping Islamization in Britain and America

In Britain and the United States, there are signs that creeping Islamization has now accelerated to a gallop.

Until recently, America viewed the erosion of Western norms by Islam as a British and European problem from which America was largely immune. That is now far from the case.

Last week, the 34-year-old Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani, the New York state assemblyman who is the runaway favorite to become mayor of New York City in next month’s election, posted pictures of himself at Masjid At-Taqwa mosque in Brooklyn, N.Y., with its imam, Siraj Wahhaj, who he described as one of the nation’s foremost Muslim leaders.

America’s Progressive Descent Into Psychosis

Is there a cure for the civilization-ending woke mind virus?

I was all set to write a column weighing in on the excellent Helen Andrews piece at Compact about the feminization of our institutions and the damage that’s done — though what I would say is that Alla Margolina did an excellent job expounding on that subject in a post we picked up at RVIVR.

And then something else came up, which really deserves a bit of treatment.

GOLDSTEIN: EV subsidies albatross around necks of Canadian taxpayers

With Canada’s auto sector already under assault from U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs, the $52.5 billion the federal and provincial governments have earmarked to create a domestic electric vehicle supply chain industry in Canada have become an albatross around taxpayers’ necks.

Mamdani’s 9/11 Moment of Truth

If Zohran Mamdani is elected the next mayor of New York City, he will face the next anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on America as either an undisguised hypocrite or honest enough to reveal his expansive contempt for a nation that remains the beacon of freedom around the world.

Try as he might, on that solemn day of remembrance, Mamdani will not be able to have it both ways.

GUNTER: B.C. land claim court ruling muddies reconciliation waters

This week, about 150 homeowners in the Vancouver suburb of Richmond received letters from the city’s mayor, Malcolm Broday, advising them that an August B.C. Supreme Court ruling “may compromise the status and validity of your ownership.”

That’s an understatement. The ruling, if it survives an appeal by the city and the province, could extinguish the homeowners’ titles to the properties they have owned and occupied for decades.

Vatican’s Secretary of State under fire for describing Islamic attacks against Christians in Nigeria as a ‘social conflict.’

Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin is under fire for remarks that downplay the terror attacks that Christians in Nigeria have been suffering at the hands of Islamic extremists for decades.

Parolin was the keynote speaker for an event held at the Vatican on Tuesday. The gathering focused on the recently released 2025 Religious Freedom Report published by Aid to the Church in Need (ACN).

ACN surveyed 196 countries for its report. It found that just under two-thirds of the world’s population live in countries with “serious or very serious violations of religious freedom.” Twenty-four countries, including Nigeria, received the “worst” category in its report: persecution.

OTTAWA – Just three years after Canada called China a “disruptive global power,” Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand says Canada now views Beijing as a strategic partner in a dangerous world.

Anand told The Canadian Press on Monday that a strategic partnership with China means going beyond allowing individual irritants to strain the entire relationship and permitting Canada to advance its economic and security interests.
