Inside Amazon’s Plans to Replace Workers With Robots

Internal documents show the company that changed how people shop has a far-reaching plan to automate 75 percent of its operations.

Over the past two decades, no company has done more to shape the American workplace than Amazon. In its ascent to become the nation’s second-largest employer, it has hired hundreds of thousands of warehouse workers, built an army of contract drivers and pioneered using technology to hire, monitor and manage employees.

Now, interviews and a cache of internal strategy documents viewed by The New York Times reveal that Amazon executives believe the company is on the cusp of its next big workplace shift: replacing more than half a million jobs with robots.

Is Pierre Poilievre okay?

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s recent behaviour doesn’t quite meet the threshold of an all-out spiral. He hasn’t shaved his head like Britney, or started running through the street naked like that guy who created the “Kony 2012” campaign.

But look: When you’re supposed to be the solemn voice for the Official Opposition and yet you’re posting on X about how the Nazis were socialists (but it’s right there in their name!), and trying to rewrite the history of the Freedom Convoy (he referred to the three-week occupation, which effectively shut down Ottawa’s downtown core in 2022, as a “peaceful” protest), and talking about how former prime minister Justin Trudeau should have been arrested for actions he took while in office, you start to look a little unhinged.

The anti-Poilievre faction in the CPC is pushing out the attack articles.

The main sites at the center include a towering grey monolith-like museum building, the forum auditorium, a branch of the Chicago public library, a garden pavilion and the home court – an NBA-size basketball court.

Trump can send troops to Portland, appeals court says

A federal appeals court on Monday said that it would allow President Donald Trump to deploy the National Guard to Portland, Oregon, blocking a judge’s ruling that forbade his administration from sending troops into the city.

The decision from a panel with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit authorizes, for now, Trump’s efforts to place the military in Oregon’s largest city, one of several places where he has sent troops or vowed to do so, including Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Chicago.

Poilievre demands federal government release its contracts with Stellantis

The Conservative Party of Canada is calling on the federal government to publicly release its contracts with Stellantis following the company’s announcement Tuesday that it is scrapping plans to produce the Jeep Compass in Brampton, Ont., and going with a U.S. plant instead.

The demand was made in a letter sent on Friday to Prime Minister Mark Carney by the leader of the official opposition, Pierre Poilievre.

“You claimed yesterday that Stellantis is obligated to keep jobs in Brampton, yet auto workers have been left in the dark about what Canadians got for the $10 billion your government promised to that company,” Poilievre wrote in the letter.

Syrians Still Reluctant To Leave Germany Despite Regime Change

Following the overthrow of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad in December 2024, only a small number of Syrians have left Germany. According to a report from the Federal Ministry of the Interior, released in response to a parliamentary question by Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) MP Stephan Brandner, authorities recorded just 4,633 departures of Syrian nationals by the end of August 2025.

Why go back when they have the opportunity to make Germany a shithole too?
