The minority government of Saxony, led by Minister-President Michael Kretschmer (CDU), has enacted a new code of conduct designed to ensure the constitutional loyalty of the state’s public workforce.
Following the Saxony intelligence agency’s classification of the local chapter of Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) as “confirmed right-wing extremist,” the regional interior ministry is mandating heightened scrutiny for civil servants and public employees who maintain ties to the party.
