The Martyrdom of Marine Le Pen

A French criminal court’s disqualification of Marine Le Pen, the leader of the French populist party, the Rassemblement National, from running for office for five years, along with a sentence of four years’ imprisonment—meaning two years under effective house arrest—and a fine of $110,000 has, not surprisingly, acted like a stick poked into a hornet’s nest. The disqualification means that Le Pen will not be able to run for the presidency, which she had a reasonable chance of winning, in 2027.

Canada Is Losing the Battle for Its Own Sovereignty: Garry Clement

Elite Capture, Foreign Interference, and Crime: Canada Must Confront the Threat Within

Canada’s political landscape has long been characterized by a balance between geopolitical alliances and domestic priorities. But in recent years, this balance has been upended by our country’s failure to respond decisively to China’s expanding political interference, the rise of foreign-influenced elites, and the unchecked growth of transnational organized crime. What’s at stake is nothing less than our national sovereignty—and a growing perception that, through complacency, Canada is not only eroding its own democratic foundations but playing directly into the hands of U.S. strategic interests.

Jihad Rising in Africa While the West Averts its Eyes

Jihadists are murdering, raping, torturing, kidnapping, enslaving, and, in some instances, burning people alive — across Africa, and now in Syria. Recent videos posted on X show that Syrian Islamists are doing to Alawites what Hamas did to Jews living near Gaza. Christians, Druze and Yazidis in Syria — like their non-Muslim or non-Arabized counterparts in Africa— fear they may be next.

CHARLEBOIS: Make no mistake, Canada still at war with world’s largest markets

Canada may still be reeling from a bout of political and diplomatic shock—call it Post-Disruption Stress Disorder (PDSD)—following the April 2 announcement in the Rose Garden by President Trump.

But for both Canada and Mexico, the news was less damaging than feared. Despite the sweeping “Liberation Day” tariffs unveiled that day, our two nations were spared. So were American grocery shoppers.

Minnesota Teen’s Arrest Shatters Gun Control Myths

Age limits for gun purchases are very popular with anti-gunners. They love the federal age limits on handguns and they want the same limits on at least some long guns.

They’ll tell you that these age limits keep guns out of the hands of dangerous people who are young enough that their brains haven’t fully developed and can’t be trusted to be rational while owning guns.

A third defendant pleads guilty to juror bribery in massive Minnesota food fraud case

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A third defendant pleaded guilty Wednesday for his role in an attempt to bribe a juror with a bag of $120,000 in cash in exchange for acquittals in a massive COVID-19-related fraud case in Minnesota.

Abdulkarim Shafii Farah pleaded guilty to one count of bribery of a juror. He was the third of five defendants to admit to federal charges arising from the bribery case, which broke last year during the first trial of people charged in the Feeding Our Future scandal. Two of the seven defendants in that trial were Farah’s brothers.

Ilhan Omar was likely married to all of these guys at one point.

The 51st state panic was a hoax played on Canadians by our politicians and the press

Yes, poor gullible, fearful Canada. You were played.

Not by U.S. President Donald Trump. You were played by power-seeking politicians in this country. You were played by many in the press in this country.

Reality came to call one day after the date set aside for playing jokes on people.

Chicken Little was wrong. The sky isn’t falling. Canada’s end times are not upon us.

Poilievre’s agenda is radically different than Carney’s and it’s frightening says woman who thought Hugo Chavez was the Cat’s Pajamas

A deeply flawed argument has slipped into the national election conversation.

It goes like this: there isn’t much policy difference between front-runners Mark Carney and Pierre Poilievre, so it really comes down to who can best handle Donald Trump.

True, handling the U.S. president is job one and polls show Carney more trusted on this file. But the first part of the argument — that the two men have similar policies — is fundamentally wrong and dangerously misleading.

It’s true what they say about progressives every accusation is a confession.
