OTTAWA—The federal government considered a number of security upgrades — and completed at least one — to the home provided for Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre and his family, after the official in charge of protecting the property raised “significant concerns” that he said needed to be addressed internally documents show.

Zekveld: Canada will never be ready to expand assisted death to those with mental illness

Early in 2023, the federal government introduced legislation to delay the expansion of MAiD for mental illness by one year, to March 17, 2024. Then, recently, the Special Joint Committee on Medical Assistance in Dying recently tabled its report, MAID and Mental Disorders: The Road Ahead. Instead of a delay of one or even two years, the majority of the committee recommended an indefinite delay, until the ministers of health and justice are satisfied “that it can be safely and adequately provided.”

Jamie Sarkonak: Turns out, open hostility to white men isn’t great for military recruitment

Like every army ever, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) have always been predominantly male. And, as a country with a majority of the population being of European descent, its members have been predominantly white. These facts should be uncontroversial.

But unlike every army ever, the CAF is using the identities of its historic membership to promote an ethos of guilt and shame within the institution. This isn’t fixing the present recruitment crisis and it’s doubtful that it ever will — but this approach has the firm support of scholarly military voices, the latest example coming to us from Paul Mitchell, a defence studies professor at the Canadian Forces College.

Does Canada Exist?

“An evil man will burn his own nation to the ground to rule over the ashes.” —Sun Tsu

Major Russ Cooper, CEO of Canadian Citizens for Charter Rights and Freedoms, puts the question succinctly. “How could it be that the country that once called itself ‘strong and free’ could have fallen so far from grace? The fact that it has done so is evidenced by a plethora of instances that have put a new national coarseness and vacuity on display.”

The West hasn’t grasped the scale of the disaster facing China

Our treasured illusions about how Xi will react to his country sinking are about to unravel

China’s Spring Festival has huge demographic and political significance.

It’s the last surviving relic of a past world, where extended families gathered at their home villages to share respectful greetings to the old, wishes for prosperity (“Gong xi fa cai” in Mandarin) among the younger generation, and joy at the births of new heirs and descendants.

Nearly 40 years of the coercive One Child Policy, not to speak of uncounted deaths from Covid-19 among the elderly last Spring Festival, has taken an irreversible demographic toll on festival jollity.

There’s no bigger hypocrite than a Left-wing ‘anti-racist’

Why is it that the loudest anti-racism campaigners often seem to have a blind spot when it comes to Jews?

If there’s one thing Jenny Leong can’t stand, it’s racism. The Australian Greens MP proudly describes herself as “a committed anti-racism advocate”. On her Twitter/X page, she says: “If you’re sick of us talking about racism, imagine how sick we are of being subjected to it.” And in her profile, she offers a helpful word of advice to other users. “Remember, don’t be a racist.”

Brown University students still not dead after eighth day of hunger strike over Israel-Gaza

A group of Brown University students have entered the eighth day of a hunger strike to pressure their school to divest from businesses they say benefit from Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories.

The 19 students began their protests on 2 February.

They said they will continue until Brown officials consider divesting.

It is likely the longest hunger strike in the US since the beginning of the ongoing Israel-Gaza war.

The Dangerous Global Order with a Nuclear Armed Iran

As Iran is on the verge of achieving a significant milestone in obtaining nuclear weapons, concerns are mounting over the Biden administration’s lack of a coherent strategy to prevent Iran from going nuclear. Since the Biden administration took office, Iran has been rapidly advancing its uranium enrichment, approaching levels of 83.7% close to the 90% needed for nuclear weapons capability.

Media Lied for YEARS About Biden’s Mental Fitness; We Brought the Receipts

Hell has frozen over, and some in the left-wing corporate media have finally begun to entertain the notion that our 81-year-old President might, in fact, have some cognitive issues. Now is as good a time as any to remind everyone of how desperate these same journalists were to dismiss that idea as a “right-wing” conspiracy theory cooked up by cynical Republicans and “Russian television,” until ten seconds ago.

NYC art professor who held machete to Post reporter’s throat burns American flag at July 4 pro-Palestinian rally: video

Disgraced, machete-wielding professor Shellyne Rodriguez burned an American flag at a pro-Palestinian rally in Brooklyn on the Fourth of July, a disturbing resurfaced video shows.

Rodriguez, 47, who was recently axed from Cooper Union for anti-Israel statements, is seen in the clip from 2021 tossing Old Glory into a heap of already-burning Israeli flags.

The crowd cheers louder as the stars and stripes ignite and chants, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” a rallying cry that calls for the eradication of Israel.
