Parliament spent nearly $600,000 on luxury hotel rooms it never used

Parliament spent nearly $600,000 on luxury hotel rooms it didn’t use when nearly half of the listed delegates for a conference of European parliamentarians it hosted either didn’t show up or chose less expensive hotels.

Parliament expected 700 delegates to attend the annual meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly, which took place in Vancouver from June 30 to July 4. The conference is usually held in Europe, where most of its members are based.

Only 365 delegates ended up attending, and not all of them stayed at the hotels the government selected. That left taxpayers on the hook for 1,400 overnight stays worth $596,000 in total — an average of $425 a night.

Couldn’t they have RSVP’d delegates?

Canadians push back against media’s false narrative that Canada and white people are racist.

Check out the comments on Twitter, the ratio is overwhelming.

After the exposure of the anti-white hate underlying BLM/DEI/CRT etc. few will tolerate the false MSM narrative that Canada and white people are racist.

But hey if you want to self flagellate in an anti-white struggle session be my guest.

Looks like Africa and the Muslim world had better step up their game!

Update – talk about fake news

New Jersey-based smuggling gang run by illegal aliens has helped dozens sneak into US from CANADA for $6,000 a head

As the migrant crisis reaches boiling point and divides cities and states, DailyMail.com can reveal another border scandal occurring right under Americans’ noses.

These are the faces of a prolific people smuggling gang run by undocumented migrants who started sneaking into the US illegally in 2019 and are now offering passage to others by bringing them in from Canada for $6,000-a-head.

Several have been running the gang from New Jersey, where they settled after being released by ICE.

NDP MLAs banned from some B.C. mosques after ‘crappy’ land comment from minister

Representatives from more than a dozen British Columbia mosques and Islamic associations have sent a letter to Premier David Eby calling for the minister of post-secondary education to be removed from her role.

They say no NDP MLA or candidate for the next election is welcome in their sacred spaces until the premier takes action against Selina Robinson.

She has faced heavy criticism and calls to resign for days after saying Israel was founded on a “crappy piece of land.”

US says strikes on Iran-linked sites in Iraq and Syria just ‘the beginning’

The White House has warned that its air strikes on Iran-backed targets in Iraq and Syria are just “the beginning, not the end” of its response to Iran.

National security adviser Jake Sullivan told US media on Sunday “there will be more steps”.

The US is responding to the deaths of three soldiers in an enemy drone attack on a military base in Jordan last week.

Though Iran denies involvement, its affiliate the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has claimed responsibility.

Trudeau’s Canada: Hong Kong asylum applicants now shun Canada

Pillar of shame

Thousands of people from Hong Kong fled to Canada after China cracked down on dissent and free speech in the former British colony by imposing the national security law in 2020. Since then, many pro-democracy activists have been silenced, civil society groups have been shut down and outspoken media outlets have been closed.

However, a tough job market for new immigrants, housing challenges, competition from the UK and Taiwan, as well as a downturn in the Hong Kong economy could all be behind the sudden slowdown in asylum applications to Canada, according to expert opinion.

BBC editor ‘helped Somali criminals fight deportation’

A BBC editor has been hired as an expert witness to help at least 15 Somalian criminals including rapists fight their deportation.

Mary Harper, Africa editor for the World Service, has been criticised by judges over the objectivity and accuracy of her evidence in some of the cases.

Harper has given evidence in asylum cases dating back to 2013. Seven of the known cases resulted in the refugee being permitted to remain in the UK. Expert witnesses can be paid up to £2,500 for producing a report in cases funded by legal aid. Judges twice questioned Harper’s objectivity and in a third case described her evidence as “speculative”.

Two-thirds of Canadian and American renters are in unaffordable housing situations

Even as housing markets cool in some areas, housing affordability in Canada is the worst in over four decades due, in part, to sustained post-pandemic inflation and comparatively higher interest rates.

According to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation — the federal Crown corporation responsible for administering Canada’s National Housing Act — affordability is defined as mortgage or rent payments that do not exceed more than 30 per cent of a household’s gross monthly income.

If a family makes $50,000 per year before taxes, for instance, anything more than $15,000 per year (or $1,250 per month) spent on rent would put them in an unaffordable situation.

Architects’ Fees Totalled Nearly $500K for Rideau Hall ‘Barn’: Federal Records

Barn raising in Lansing, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

The federal government’s “first zero-carbon building” in the National Capital Region, which was built at Rideau Hall and cost Canadian taxpayers over $8 million, had nearly half a million dollars spent on architects’ fees, records indicate.

An Inquiry of Ministry document tabled in Parliament on Jan. 29 showed that 86 separate contracts were issued over 10 years for the construction of the solar-powered warehouse, also known as “the barn,” at the national historic site and the official residence and office of the Governor General.

Canada has reached the “Loot the treasury” phase of its descent into a 3rd World shitbox country.

Biden’s Telling Retreat

Biden is in charge of tapioca

Joe Biden is in retreat.

Not literally this time, as we witnessed in Afghanistan in 2021, but from his ideologically driven reversal of a host of Trump policies upon taking office in January 2021.

In what might be called the Great Reversal, President Biden rolled back Trump policies as a matter of course and on principle, assuming that anything his predecessor was responsible for must be immoral or ineffectual.

Alternative Energy’s Era of Reality Checks

Taxpayers and utility customers naturally expect to pay heavily for wind and solar power. After all, if such projects made economic sense, there would be no need for governments to subsidize and mandate them. But even beyond the costs of inefficient power production, there’s a question of whether alternative-energy cheerleaders yet have a handle on the environmental impact of their projects. It seems that there is still no free lunch and that every method of producing electricity carries costs and benefits.

Israel’s Long War for the West

On January 17, 2024, the Council for a Secure America (CSA) released the latest update to its “Israel-Hamas War” report, marking 100 days since the start of the war. The update is the third in a series following CSA’s 50- and 70-day war reports. From the outset of these reports, the real question was how long they would need to be issued.

Historically, wars involving Israel have been relatively short. The “Six Day War” in 1967 derived its name from the length of the war that saw Israel defeat the combined forces of Egypt, Jordan and Syria in that time. The Yom Kippur War of 1973, which started with a surprise attack on Israel led by Syria and Egypt, lasted just short of three weeks before an Israeli victory. In between, there have been continual attacks, to which Israel has responded by “cleaning up” the immediate sources of the attacks, which the Israelis dryly called “mowing the lawn.”
