CBC head Catherine Tait tells MPs it’s not her decision if she gets ‘a bonus or not’

OTTAWA – Millions in bonuses have still not been ruled out for CBC/Radio-Canada’s executives despite hundreds of job cuts planned in the English and French services.

The head of the public broadcaster, Catherine Tait, told a parliamentary committee on Tuesday that the board of directors will rule by the end of the fiscal year, on March 31, whether executives will receive compensation which she called “performance pay.”

Nolte: Atlantic Contributor Wants Taxpayers to Save Media from ‘Extinction Level Event‘

The far-left Atlantic’s Paul Farhi is calling on taxpayers to save the corporate media from an “extinction-level event.”

Farhi was once the left-wing media reporter for the disgraced Washington Post. During a recent round of layoffs at the failing Post, Farhi accepted a buyout. Now he believes that the same people the corporate media insult, demean, and misinform (you and I) should bail out this fascist institution…

Justin Trudeau’s government may rebrand its carbon pricing program. But is it too late?

OTTAWA — The federal government’s discussions around rebranding the rebate program for its carbon pricing system are aimed at ensuring Canadians are aware of what their rebates are for, Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson said Tuesday.

The first public acknowledgment of a potential rebrand of the government’s flagship climate policy comes as the Conservatives immediately dismissed the idea, and experts and political insiders raised questions on whether a rebrand would boost perceptions of the carbon price.

Belgian port blockaded as farmer protests spread across Europe

The Belgian port of Zeebrugge was blockaded on Tuesday, causing gridlock on surrounding roads as a wave of farmer protests spread across Europe.

Authorities at the North Sea port, one of the biggest in Europe, said all access roads were blocked by 5pm (1600 GMT) on Tuesday, in a demonstration that will hit commercial trade, including imports and exports of food to and from the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia.

“Every single road into and out of the port is blocked. No trucks can get in, cars are being let in and police and the harbour master are trying to find a safe way for these trucks to wait on the side of the road,” said a spokesperson for the port authority for Antwerp-Zeebrugge.

Jesse Kline: The UNRWA teachers who slaughtered Jews and the Canadian profs who admire them

The Israel-Hamas war has exposed an education system that promotes hate and glorifies violence — not only in the Palestinian territories, but right here in Canada.

On Friday, UNRWA, the United Nations agency responsible for ensuring Palestinians remain in a perpetual state of refugeehood, announced that it had fired several staff members after Israel provided credible evidence that they had participated in the Oct. 7 massacre. This prompted numerous countries, including Canada, to pause funding to the agency.

German Antifa Extremist Jailed for Brutal Attacks in Budapest

The man was part of a group who attacked random people for “looking like” neo-Nazis.

A German left-wing extremist has been sentenced to three years in prison in Hungary, while two of his Antifa accomplices, an Italian and a German woman will be summoned to a Budapest court in May for taking part in violent attacks last year. The case has caused a diplomatic spat, with Italy complaining about the conditions of the prison where the Italian woman is being held, and demanding her extradition by Hungary.

A fresh wave of Muslim militancy is looming

These are frazzled times. Farmers gumming up European roads, striking transport workers, ugly election campaigns, climate clamour and multiple wars, of course, straddling the globe. In London, shrill Palestinian sympathisers swollen with righteous fury are turning from mass rallies to guerrilla protests against companies deemed too close to Israel. Victoria’s Secret, Pizza Hut, Burger King: all apparently legitimate targets of disruption.

This public disorder blinds us to something deeper: a spreading sense of grievance in the Muslim world that could yet congeal into a threatening new militancy. The bombardment of Gaza is the catalyst but there are discontents on every continent.

Canada Should Exit CCP Leader Xi’s Imperial Bank

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in 2017 ignored multiple warnings and committed Canada to membership in Xi Jinping’s pet project—an infrastructure bank that finances Beijing’s Belt and Road Initiative and furthers China’s bid to become an imperial power.

The bank, known as the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), pretends to be benign—just another multilateral development bank, such as the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank—but its corporate structure belies such “business-as-usual” claims.

Elon Musk cannot keep Tesla pay package worth more than $55 billion, judge rules

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Elon Musk is not entitled to landmark compensation package awarded by Tesla’s board of directors that is potentially worth more than $55 billion, a Delaware judge ruled Tuesday.

The ruling by Chancellor Kathaleen St. Jude McCormick comes more than five years after a shareholder lawsuit targeted Tesla CEO Musk and directors of the company. They were accused of breaching their duties to the maker of electric vehicles and solar panels, resulting in a waste of corporate assets and unjust enrichment for Musk.

Frank Stronach: Canada starting to look neo-feudal as rich-poor gulf widens

The rich get richer and the poor get poorer goes the old saying. But is it true? It certainly seems to be the case in Canada.

A new report published by Statistics Canada last week showed that the wealth gap in our country continues to widen. According to the report, the richest 20 per cent of Canadians accounted for nearly 70 per cent of the country’s total wealth in the third quarter of 2023, while the bottom 40 per cent of Canadians represented a meagre three per cent of Canada’s wealth in that time. The wealth gap between these two groups rose by 0.2 per cent from 2022 to 2023.

Tom Mulcair: Weak communications are the Trudeau Liberals’ Achilles heel

In political communications, “too much” is sometimes worse than “not enough”.

It’s understandable that the Liberals, frustrated at the success of Pierre Polievre’s freewheeling demagoguery, would be tempted to go into overdrive on the message front.

On Monday, the day of Parliament’s return, we saw a case of overdrive becoming overkill.

WARMINGTON: Security threat against Trudeau all of Canada’s concern

It’s just not acceptable to see Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as vulnerable as he was on Monday when an angry mob of protesters descended on his vehicle.

It was a serious security incident caught on camera that once again raises concerns about the safety of Canada’s prime minister while illustrating a vitriolic mood among some Canadians.

I dunno. I mean it’s Trudeau.

Why hasn’t the CDC warned about all the diseases that could be brought in because of Joe Biden’s open borders?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is supposed to be an independent agency looking out for the health of the American people.

So why hasn’t it protested the endless stream of illegals pouring across the northern and southern borders, all of whom are allowed to enter without being checked for disease or illness? Are these bureaucrats more interested in protecting their jobs and going along with the political agenda of Joe Biden instead of protecting public health?
