Ron DeSantis suspends campaign for president

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Donald Trump.

The surprise video announcement comes ahead of this week’s New Hampshire Republican primary, where Mr DeSantis was polling in the single digits.

The conservative lawmaker said that he didn’t “have a clear path to victory” when announcing the end of his campaign.

His departure leaves Nikki Haley as Mr Trump’s only significant rival.

I like Desantis but Trump is a hard man to beat.

Number of international students now exceeds one million, official figures show

Vicious idiots run Canada

The number of international students in Canada now exceeds one million, according to official figures that show an increase that has escalated far faster than the government’s own internal forecasts.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada told The Globe and Mail that at the end of December, there were 1,028,850 study permit holders, with just over half of them in Ontario.

Don’t be like Germany …

Muslim religious leaders trained in Germany

Osman Soyer is a religious affairs officer who was sworn into office this month in the Sehitlik Mosque in Berlin’s Neukölln district. He is one of 28 young men and women who have been trained as “religious representatives” by DITIB, Germany’s largest Islamic organization. They are involved in a variety of pastoral duties; this can also include acting as imams, but the job description is broader.

Soyer has been working as an Islamic religious representative in Alfter, a town near Bonn in western Germany, for a few months now. Community outreach, he says, is his top priority. It includes a wide range of activities: “I teach pupils, I’m a prayer leader, preacher and pastor. We also go to weddings, I do funerals.”

The German left is so terrified of the AfD’s rise that there are calls to ban the party much like Hitler banned the opposition because it’s the AfD who are the fascists and these are entirely spontaneous demonstrations.

Germany sees second day of large anti far-right protests

After two days of mass protests, tens of thousands of people took to the streets of German cities on Sunday to demonstrate against the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and its anti-immigration agenda.

From Friday through the weekend, demonstrations were called in about 100 locations across Germany. On Sunday, rallies were held in major cities such as Cologne, Munich and Berlin. Several other German cities, including Cottbus, Dresden and Chemnitz in the east, also planned to hold demonstrations.

Police in Munich said that some 80,000 people participated in the march, while organizers put the figure at 200,000. The march had to be called off due to overcrowding.

Trudeau threatens to pull support for a Jewish state

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Israel’s “short-term” actions could result in the withdrawal of “support for a Jewish state” from Canada and other allied nations.

Trudeau’s Liberal government voted in favour of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, an Islamic extremist terrorist group leading the Palestinian government that holds the doctrine all Jews must be destroyed.

Police charge 2 Hamas supporters in connection with December demonstration inside Eaton Centre

Toronto police have arrested and charged two men in connection with a pro-Palestinian demonstration inside a mall in downtown Toronto last month.

On Dec. 17, an estimated 150 people participated in a demonstration in front of the Toronto Eaton Centre Zara location. A week earlier, Zara, a multinational clothing retailer, pulled an advertising campaign that some said bore a resemblance to imagery of the Israel-Hamas war.

Investigators with Toronto police allege that during the demonstration, the two men blocked the entrance of the store, preventing the employees from closing.

Trudeau government’s policies are undercutting Canada’s economy, business group charges

OTTAWA — One of Canada’s leading business groups has accused the federal government of eroding the country’s economic standing through its failure to constrain spending and more quickly adopt policies to cash in on the global transition away from fossil fuels.

The Business Council of Canada, a lobby group based in Ottawa, sent that message in a letter addressed to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday.

In the letter, which the group provided to the Star, council president and chief executive Goldy Hyder warned that government inaction in areas like spending restraint and reforms to the process to approve major projects is undercutting the Canadian economy.

Recognize this: This article is written to suggest the “Business Council of Canada” representing Canada’s corporate welfare class gives a damn about the so called transition away from fossil fuels and supports Trudeau’s lunatic climate policies.

In fact the BCC only want Trudeau to make it easier for them to cash in on his Net Zero fraud before the public kicks that nonsense to curb.

The BCC in their insatiable greed heartily supports Trudeau’s destructive mass immigration scam. They do not hold your best interests at heart.

The Legal Question at the Center of the Alec Baldwin Criminal Case

Now that a grand jury has indicted Alec Baldwin on a charge of involuntary manslaughter for the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the film “Rust” in New Mexico in 2021, the contours of the looming legal battle are coming into focus.

If the case reaches trial, the challenge prosecutors face will be convincing a jury that Mr. Baldwin was guilty of either the negligent use of a firearm or of acting with “total disregard or indifference for the safety of others” — even though investigators found he was told on the day of the shooting that the gun he was rehearsing with contained no live rounds, and even though the film set was not supposed to have any live ammunition at all.

THOMSON: Bernier was right on immigration, wasn’t he?

Finally.

In the lead up to the 2019 federal election, People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier was uncannily prophetic on immigration.

Right now immigration, and its impact on housing, jobs and affordability becomes a successively bigger topic each week.

More and more columnists, journalists, economists and politicians are talking about it. Yet none of them has given even a grudging acknowledgement to Maxime Bernier’s 2019 platform on this issue.

UK: Climate chiefs admitted net zero plan’s controversial claims based on single year of data, leading physicist says

Key committee only looked at ‘a single year of data’ when making controversial green energy claims

Britain’s climate watchdog has privately admitted that a number of its key net zero recommendations may have relied on insufficient data, it has been claimed.

Sir Chris Llewellyn Smith, who led a recent Royal Society study on future energy supply, said that the Climate Change Committee only “looked at a single year” of data showing the number of windy days in a year when it made pronouncements on the extent to which the UK could rely on wind and solar farms to meet net zero.

“They have conceded privately that that was a mistake,” Sir Chris said in a presentation seen by this newspaper. In contrast, the Royal Society review examined 37 years worth of weather data.

Trudeau careening out of control on a Kathleen Wynne like trajectory to oblivion

Mad at Justin Trudeau? Tuning him out? The prime minister says he hears you — and he gets it

Justin Trudeau gets a lot of advice. It goes with the job of being prime minister.
But who does Trudeau seek out when times get tough, as they have so often over the past year?

“Define ‘tough times,’ because that sounds like Monday to me,” Trudeau said when he sat down with me for a wide-ranging, one-on-one interview last week. “Every day is tough. We’re running a country in a really, really complex time.”

Only Blackie’s Star has the gall to paint the public’s intense and growing disdain for Trudeau as if it were a mere glitch quickly remedied by a selfie or special socks.

During Wynne’s last run for office it became evident that not only the public but the media had tuned her out. I suspect Wynne tuned Wynne out.

She became an afterthought and deservedly so. People were interested in one thing – seeing the back of her.

Trudeau and his ministers desperately hope to reverse his faded fortunes and are spinning tall tales about how they’re solving the housing, affordability and mass immigration crisis while building a fabulous economic future under their lunatic Net-Zero tyranny.

But it’s all lies these problems were inflicted upon us through the malevolent incompetence of Trudeau’s Liberals. Canadians know that.

Our nation’s social and economic security has been deeply harmed by Trudeau’s policies and it will take years to fix the mess Junior created.

It is the common people who are suffering from his incompetence not Junior’s insulated Liberal cabal and the most vulnerable will continue to bear the brunt of Trudeau’s malfeasance for years to come.

Besides our new status as a naturally wealthy nation made deliberately poor Canada’s other claim to fame is as a World Class Laughing Stock. Thank Trudeau for that. I bet his cronies steal the tampons from Parliament’s men’s washrooms.

No amount of spin will lie the Liberals out of that legacy.

Is Israel about to break with America?

Yesterday, Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he had told US diplomats of his opposition to the creation of a Palestinian state after the present war in Gaza. The Israeli Prime Minister said that “in any future arrangement […] Israel needs security control over all territory west of the River Jordan. This collides with the idea of [Palestinian] sovereignty.” He added that the Americans were aware of his view, and that “the Prime Minister needs to be capable of saying no to our friends.”

They have to wipe out Hamas. I wouldn’t listen to anything Dotey Joe has to say on the matter.

Ukraine is looking for more than bland security ‘assurances’ in talks with Canada, expert says

A significant, even far-reaching event would have slipped almost silently under the radar in Ottawa this week, had it not been for Ukrainian news media.

The Liberal government quietly (perhaps deliberately so) handed over a draft of its proposed security assurances plan for Ukraine to officials in President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office.

The milestone was acknowledged by Canada’s Ambassador to Ukraine Natalka Cmoc, who was widely quoted by several media outlets in Kyiv.

Good luck.
