Sounds like the Libs were happy to let Ukraine’s promised AA system rot in bureaucratic hell

Feds say Canada’s air defence donation to Ukraine has final hurdle to clear from U.S.

The Department of National Defence says Canada’s donation of an air-defence system to Ukraine is in the midst of clearing one final administrative hurdle with the U.S. government.

A spokesperson says Ukraine and the U.S. are finalizing a letter of acceptance that will confirm delivery timelines for a surface-to-air missile system Canada pledged to pay for more than a year ago.

… It took more than a week to get the response from the Defence Department, which sought information from the U.S. government.

The department spokesperson also says Defence Minister Bill Blair met with U.S. ambassador David Cohen Thursday to ask for an expedited timeline.

Seriously? You spend 500 million and don’t check up on delivery? I watch a pack of socks from Amazon closer.

What a Report on South Korea’s Dog-Eating Ban Teaches Us About PBS

The Public Broadcasting System is often exposed for what it is: a publicly-funded hotbed of progressive propaganda disguised as news. Left-wing biases hard-baked into its editorial lines and delivered with calm tones. But if you look hard enough, from time to time you’ll find a report that exemplifies what news delivery should be.

Our own media rises to the occasion from time to time.

4 arrests made at Avenue Road bridge demonstrations

Toronto police say they have arrested four people and removed them from the Avenue Road bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Police posted on X just before 4:00 p.m. that the arrests had been made due to Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw announcing a ban on demonstrations and congregations at the bridge, which has been shut down to pedestrian and motor traffic on at least three previous occasions.

Short and sweet.

High Drama!

Nothing a couple of wind turbines or solar panels couldn’t fix I’m sure

The alert was issued at 4:16 p.m.

McMaster University apologizes for ‘grave oversight’ of noting Sir John A. Macdonald Day

The inclusion of Sir John A. Macdonald Day on a McMaster University calendar has led to an apology to students for the “grave oversight.”

“We inadvertently included the mention of Sir John A. Macdonald day, which is a day that commemorates a person who was responsible for the genocide and oppression of Indigenous peoples in Canada,” the email, sent to medical students at the Hamilton, Ont., university, said. “We are committed to creating a culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect in our department, and we recognize that our calendars should reflect the values and identities of our members and the communities we serve.”

A lot of our institutions of higher woke should be allowed to go bankrupt.

Biden’s Latest ‘Gaffe’ Is Something Much More Serious Than That

Old Joe Biden’s advanced age is an “asset,” Jill Biden assured the world on Thursday, and who could be more honest than Jill Biden? On Friday, however, the alleged commander-in-chief displayed this wonderful asset yet again, and raised new doubts not only about his viability as a candidate for reelection this November, but upon his fitness even to pretend to be president at this very moment.

LILLEY: Trudeau’s cowardly compromise on South Africa accusing Israel of genocide

The Trudeau government’s ongoing craven attempts to play both sides in the Israel-Hamas war truly knows no end.

After Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made vague comments early Friday that would seem to suggest Canada opposed South Africa’s charge of genocide, the full statement came out later in the day.

German ‘remigration’ debate fuels push to ban far-right AfD

On January 10, the investigative journalism group Correctiv reported on a meeting of politicians from the Alternative for Germany (AfD) and neo-Nazis in a hotel in Potsdam in November.

The meeting focused on a topic that the participants referred to as “remigration.” The term stands for the return, forced or otherwise, of “migrants” to their place of origin — regardless of their citizenship status.

Right-populist and extreme-right groups use that term to refer to mass deportations and expulsions of migrants and their descendants. According to Correctiv, the invitation for the meeting in Potsdam mentioned that an “overall concept, in the sense of a master plan” was on the agenda.

One day we will have this discussion in Canada without fear in a free and unfettered manner.

Bear in Mind that DW is one of about 30 different state funded media outlets in Germany.

They will preach the establishment line no matter what.

On the rare occasion DW has opened comments on an article the ratio has been through the roof.

Ottawa’s inaction is fraying the consensus on immigration

It’s a stunning, yet entirely predictable, turnaround in public opinion.

Less than a year ago, polling by Nanos Research showed 61 per cent of Canadians thought that immigration levels should either be increased or stay the same, in keeping with a decades-old consensus that welcomes newcomers to this country.

Public opinion has inverted, according to Nanos. In December, 61 per cent of Canadians said immigration levels should be reduced, with just 34 per cent still believing that Canada should maintain or increase the number of newcomers.

I think the alleged concensus around immigration was fraying far earlier especially among urban dwellers.

The myth was propped up by the fact that until recently merely raising the topic of immigration policy was to risk being labeled a racist by the political and chattering classes.

This was done at the behest of the corporate class who to this day dictate Canada’s immigration policy to the detriment of everyone save themselves and their political minions.

The stopper on immigration discussion was only removed in the past year as the ruling class no doubt sensed an imminent explosion.

It’s a start that ideally will result in the will of citizens being made paramount in designing immigration policy.

Our politicians have proven they cannot be trusted to act in our best interests.

One aspect of mass immigration the MSM refuses to address is the impact on society caused by the introduction of incompatible cultures.

Our MSM won’t touch Islam’s clash with western culture despite vast numbers of marauding Hamas supporters in the streets of every major western city.

Despite decades of living under the constant threat of Islamist terrorism and the encroachment of sharia law in society.

Islam’s harmful presence has been an exercise in the tolerance of the intolerant made possible by the elite’s embrace of racist doctrines such as DEI and CRT and the dissent crushing cancel culture bludgeons of official multiculturalism and diversity.

Not all cultures are equal and that is indisputable.

No wave of immigration has cost societies across the west more than Islam.

The dollars spent on domestic policing to keep the Hamas mobs in check is likely already in the millions in Canada alone.

The kowtowing of our political class to ethnic strongmen is a shameless insult to Canada and emboldens groups to import their pet hatreds and battle it out in our streets.

But no longer.

The sacred cows too long off limits in the polite society of our (Often government subsidized) betters are being slaughtered one by one.

Pity the MSM and our mainstream political parties remain behind the curve.

Burchett: Classified UFO briefing ‘energized’ Congress on issue, more hearings expected

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) said the classified briefing around unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), more commonly known as UFOs, may have only moved the needle a little bit, but it “energized” the House on the issue.

“I’d say on a scale of one to ten, I’d give it a four. I’d say the needle moved … it was bipartisan,” Burchett told NewsNation host Chris Cuomo in an interview Friday, when asked about how the hearing went.

He noted that “the whole gang” was in the room, pointing out Reps. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.), Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-N.Y.) and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.).

John Ivison: Canada left sending moral support and maple syrup in strikes against Houthi lawlessness

The Trudeau government should be commended for backing the airstrikes on Houthi rebels who are attacking ships in the Red Sea.

But the admission that Canada did not take on an operational role shows how impotent our military has become: we are limited to sending moral support and maple syrup.

Justin Trudeau was clearly rattled when a reporter asked him why Canada did not contribute more.

Barbra Streisand’s film company pocketed $200K in small business pandemic cash — and paid gardener at her $20M mansion

Barbra Streisand’s film company, which pays the groundskeeper at her $20 million mansion, got $200,000 in PPP money intended to help small businesses make payroll written off, The Post has learned.

The multimillionaire star’s Barwood Films Ltd. received loans from the Paycheck Protection Program in 2020 and 2021 — then had them written off by the federal government.

Understandable, she’s a wealthy Hollywood Democrat party donor so it’s natural she feels entitled to tax payer money.

Peter Menzies: Thanks to Freedom of Expression, Protesters’ True Colours Are Revealed

There are a lot of us who want people in the Islamist-leftist coalitions parading through our cities to be shut up, but where oh where would we be without their freedom of expression?

Without it, the population at large might still be thinking kindly of certain union leaders, MPPs, MLAs, mayors, city councillors, human rights commissioners, journalists, theatre companies, activists, academics, medical doctors, law students, and MPs. Canadians might still be thinking of them—as they have worked so hard to be portrayed—as people dedicated to making the world a happier, more prosperous place in which to live.

I admit I prefer when my enemies tell me exactly who they are.

German Farmers Warn Government: “No Scope” for Any More Cuts

SDP Chancellor Olaf Scholz found himself the subject of a lively farmers’ picket on Thursday afternoon as the embattled German premier cold-shouldered local agricultural organisations pressuring him to speak directly to protestors.

Security was heightened ahead of Scholz’s scheduled visit to Cottbus—in a region known to be a hotbed of agrarian discontent. A police cordon prevented direct confrontation between Scholz and the farmers as hundreds lined the streets to protest the hapless chancellor, who was there to launch a new railway components factory. Convoys of tractors attempted to encircle the northeastern German town.
